They sent us loads of information (this was before most of this was available online) and we set up days and times with them to view various properties in the area. Since we had to look for a few different times over a period of 3 months, we had different people show us the places we chose to check out in person. All staff we dealt with either in person or on the phone were professional, friendly and knowledgable and never were pushy or obnoxious. Only once were we steered to look at a house not in our specs and this wasn't repeated again. If we ever decide to see our home in the future, we will more than likely go to Besley Hill.

I've rarely had to wait very long (extremely rare for a Barclays), the interior is pleasant, there is a free filtered water dispenser and the staff are extremely polite and friendly. In fact, after my 21st birthday I was looking to put some savings away and whilst I don't want to get their staff into trouble, the advisor who served me suggested that the money could perform better elsewhere! Astonishing honesty, that really took me by surprise at a time of recession when everyone wants to blame 'the evil money grabbing bankers' for the worldwide financial crisis!

I think its charm may come from the fact it's in such a beautiful building on this picturesque parks, which is home to no other banks and indeed, to find one here is slightly unexpected. They serve the local business and office community primarily, and as such are in prime position. There are two ladies on the counter usually, and both are very helpful and will soon learn to know your face and have a chat with you. It's never been unpleasantly busy, and it's really the kind of bank I'd expect to find in a quiet village rather than in the heart of Bristol city centre. A total thumbs up.

We're talking so narrow that you may not get up there if you were to go after Christmas! No, I'm sure it'll be alright. Once upstairs it's nice and straightforward with counter services and some personal banking services. As much as I claim to be anti-capitalist, there's no avoiding the need for financial institutions and I've always founf Barclays to be one of the better banks. There is also a cash point conveniently placed to on the side wall opposite Joe Publics, which is probably the reason it can be empty on a Sunday evening.

This branch is a good example of a decent Barclays branch. There is usually a nice girl who at the customer service counter who greets you and tries to solve your problems. Sometimes this is merely pointing you in the direction of counter services up the stairs, to the nearby cash point or deposit drop or to the newly added and amazingly helpful self service station where you can print out your statements, amend or cancel standing orders and transfer money. There's also one of those phone points where you can call up customers services for your Barclaycard or get an insurance quote from Barclays. And of course there are half a dozen personal banker desks to help you with more complex queries. Judging by the signs outside at the moment though, they are soon to move to a new 'flagship' store elsewhere in Broadmead.
