It wasnt working, so I began my search for a clock repair service with a good reputation. I read the reviews for About Time, took a leap of faith and scheduled a home service call. The repairman came to the house, took the face off the clock and looked over the guts. He said It was quite old and he needed to take the guts to the shop for repair. A few weeks later he came back with the repaired part and put the clock back together. He wound it for me, made sure it was working and went on his way with my $200 payment. Two weeks later the clock stopped and couldn't be wound. So, I called the shop and scheduled another service call. The repairman came back, took apart the clock and took the guts with him for a second time. That was TWO YEARS AGO! Since then I have been in contact with the owner of the shop every couple of months to check on the progress of my repair. Mind you, he has never once called me to give me an update. Each time I call I am told he is working on it. He has told me he has rebuilt the part twice, but that didnt work. He has told me he sent it to Germany for repair, but no luck. A few months ago he said he sent it to California for repair, but that didn't work either. It seems my clock can't be fixed, which is truly heartbreaking. My great grandfather built that clock and it's been passed down from generation to generation. My complaint is this, if he couldn't fix it, why not tell me so I could try another place? Why make me wait two years for my beloved clock that I am obviously never going to have working again? Why not return the part, give me a least some of my money back, and an apology for poor customer service? The owner may be very good at what he does, but my experience has been anything but positive. I really wish I had chosen someone else to trust with my clock repair.
