It has a nice outer crunch and is well seasoned but not overwhelming with it. You can see the cracked pepper on the skin. It's juicy and cooked well. I do prefer a more cruncher skin however, but this is preference. Chicken alone is a 9/10. This may be controversial but Cole slaw is FIRE to me lol. I consider myself a slaw connoisseur. I enjoy it with numerous meals and meats. The slaw here is yummy. Nice crunch of cabbage and carrot. Mayo base and the perfect ratio of mayo and cabbage 10/10. Every group has a weak link and that is the fries. They were hard. They are shoestring fries and it can be easy to over cook this style of fry. Next time I will opt for another side option 1/10. The cornbread was ok but flavor wise was different and delicious. When I took a bite of this cornbread, my whole mouth dried. It literally sucked all the moisture from me . However, the flavor is vanilla cake like and just delicious 4/10. I also ordered a beverage called Morir Sonando. This is a Dominican beverage that typically consists of oranges, sugar, milk and ice. A beverage I am a fan of. For those foreign to Morir Sonando, it is very reminiscent of Dairy Queen's orange julius, except way less sweet and less thick. This drink is no short of amazing 10/10. Refreshing. Beef empanadas. Delicious. Get them. Get a side of the sauce 11/10. Lastly, I ordered the tres leches cake (3 milk cake). Perfection at its finest. When you're craving tres leches cake, you want THIS. Upon walking in for pick up, Pica Pollo West was very clean. Which makes my likely hood of returning anywhere higher. The service was average. Nothing worth noting. I will return. I want to try their fish next!

For food, we shared two appetizers and honestly could have made a meal out of them. The Dominican Flag was incredible: crispy fried plantains, perfectly melty fried cheese, Dominican salami and smoky longaniza, all topped with pickled red onions that added the perfect zing. Every bite was packed with flavor and felt like true comfort food. We also loved the Loaded Yuca Balls; crispy golden yuca stuffed with cheese and topped with roasted pineapple, jalapeños, sour cream, and bacon. The combination of sweet, spicy, cheesy, and savory was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was great. We'll definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and did a great job throughout our meal. I ordered the Garlic Chimichurri Shrimp. While the shrimp was cooked well, it had a pretty fishy taste that just wasn't for me, and I wasn't a fan of the cilantro aioli. Several people in our group really liked the pineapple dressing, though, so I'd definitely give that a try if I went back. Next time, I'd order a different entrée because there were several other dishes that looked delicious. The only thing that felt a little off was when we first walked in. The gentleman at the front just stared at us without greeting or acknowledging us, which was a bit intimidating. It wasn't a huge deal, but a simple "Hi, we'll be with you in a moment" would have made for a warmer first impression. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd definitely return to try something different on the menu. I also had the flan, which was pretty good and the Tropical Bay House which was tasty! ,

This unassuming spot is positioned mostly for takeout, with few seats for those who choose to dine in, and offers a limited menu. Offers are made at the counter through a takeout window. I often gauge Caribbean or Jamaican restaurants by how well they prepare their oxtail stews. Unruly's stew had a little more heat than I anticipated ( guessing their recipe actually uses scotchbonnets vs. jalapenos), and it was delicious. The server even added in extra jus into my order ... As if she knew my heart. The portion was generous and reasonably priced. There also were bottles of fun, Jamaican sodas available for purchase. Overall, a good restaurant to satiate cravings. If this place were in Chicago, I'd frequent it often.

The location is a throwback of all the great "hole-in the-wall" spots but it's clean and bright! The food: First of all, I'm a foodie. This means I really enjoy every aspect of food. Presentation, taste, ambiance, music. Everything! During the pandemic, with dine-in options reduced significantly, we're all left wondering what food will taste like and if it loses any of its quality or flavor due to the delayed ability to enjoy it immediately. Well, this is not the case with this place. The jerk is spicy, flavorful and absolutely delicious. Be warned, food quantities are limited. So you'll need to get your order sooner than later. Interesting to know: this restaurant used to be located in the Buckeye neighborhood and recently relocated. I not only plan to attend but also recommend trying it for you

But I am no expert. I ordered a large portion of jerk chicken, rice and beans, and steamed cabbage. The large gives 3 chicken portions instead of 2. I am out of food at home since I am leaving to go out of the country for almost two weeks but still needed food for today and tomorrow so I got the large so I could have leftovers. The large was $17. My financial and calorie budgets didn't allow me to also get a patty but they did look delish! My to go order was ready for me 3 minutes after I ordered it so I left to eat half at home. My car started smelling a little like cigarettes with the food in the car, for some reason. As a non-smoker, I wasn't thrilled having that smell in my car for the 10 minute drive back home. Isn't take out food supposed to make your car smell enticing and wonderful? Well, hopefully the food tasted better than it smelled! And it did! I liked both the jerk chicken and the rice and beans better at Irie. The jerk chicken I had a month or so ago at Irie was life changing! This place puts way too much sauce on everything. And it was a little too spicy for me! However, the steamed cabbage better at Taste of Jamaica! The large portion did provide me with leftovers that I will eat for lunch tomorrow so I am happy for that! I enjoyed my food at Taste of Jamaica overall, but for a dollar or two more, I'll get my craving at Irie. But the food here is good though and made very quickly so don't be deterred if you intend on trying this place out!
