If you're staying In the centre of Madrid, then this is a little walk out of town, bit of you do decide to meander this way, there is also a beautiful park to walk around right next to it. It doesn't have the same feel as the likes of Toma coffee, but instead it is spacious, and whilst I visited, not absolutely rammed. I like it. I like the slightly too loud music that plays relaxing and acoustic beats that allow you to get lost in conversation/ a book/ a help review whilst also tapping your feet. I like the friendly baristas that helped me with my dreadful Spanish and filled in the obvious gaps in my order. I like the industrial metal and bare wood that are sympathetic to the unit and accentuate the wrought iron window guards. I like the coffee. And really, that's what it's all about, isn't it? That's right, I'm bananas about Monkee Koffee!

Honestly one of my favorite places to get coffee in the city. The coffee is delicious and the oatmeal honey cookie is delicious. The workers are super friendly, and speak English and Spanish. People from all over come and frequently there are people practicing speaking English. The music is fitting and the decor is straight out of Portland or San Francisco. Once you come, you'll always come back.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while now. For anyone that knows me or at least follows me on snapchat, you would know that I spent an insane amount of time and money at this particular coffee shop while I was living in Madrid. I spent nearly every other day (occasionally sneaking in multiple visits per day) for hours at a time here, either studying, reading, or journaling. For starters the food and coffee here is nothing short of heavenly. I came here so often that nearly all of the workers and employees knew me by my name and order upon walking up to the register. I had also filled 3 full stamp cards in a 2 month time frame. Haha. While I never ordered something I regretted from their menu, my personal favorites are their lattes, carrot cake, banana smoothie, tomato toast, apple salad, and yogurt with fruits (especially when they add persimmon to it!!!). The employees were always so friendly and always attempted to help me with my Spanish. Sometimes they would joke around with me about how often I was there. The owner visits the place often and you could tell he takes great pride in his business, the ambience of the place and the food is always spot on! For many of my friends and especially myself, this place had become somewhat of a second home. It was a really great place for me to work and get great food and drinks and reminded me of home while I was abroad. This place was easily one of my favorite parts of living in Madrid and i'm counting down the days until I could visit again and enjoy my afternoon cafe con leche and carrot cake.

My girlfriend and I had already decided to do the brunch for 14€ and were promptly seated. The brunch begins with either coffee/tea and a orange juice or you can add mimosas or other alcoholic options for an extra charge. I thought the freshly squeezed orange juice was one of the best parts of the meal! I went for a pancake with PB&J for the first course and my girlfriend got a fruit bowl. I thought the pancake was very filling, but the peanut butter tasted like it was from a jar of Jiffy. Next we both decided to get the breakfast burrito for the second course. Again, I thought the food was very filling, and I'm sure it's hard to come by a breakfast burrito in Madrid, but it just didn't wow me. Overall, I think the portions and amount of food you get for 14€ is very good, especially that orange juice! As far as the taste, it is good, but not great. This restaurant is definitely filling a small niche in Madrid and has some hard to come by "American" food, so if you're craving that, this could be your place.

I had a brunch menu with French toast, breakfast burrito, orange juice, latte and a Bloody Mary... it was bloody good! The service was great, the location cosy... I definitely recommend this lovely venue.
