I have generally had good re news EXCEPT for when I boarded to Atlanta, Delta terminal, for a flight leaving at 6:09 a.m., on MAY 29TH. That's person at the terminal was HIGHLY rude to me for no good reason. I was checked in by a male from the back, when the woman whonwas assigned was held up with an older couple, searching their bag. The gentleman feeling in told me to get my ticket "around the corner" where I assumed was the terminal. I happened upon the terminal as they were boarding, calmly waited until the zone was complements enquire about the ticket I purchased, with chosen seat. She told me I had no seat and that I would be last and to sit down. It was so off putting and she had a sheriff deputy standing there with her. So she felt protected. She had the audacity to try to humiliate me by asking whether a man or woman checked me in, I SAID MAN. SHE rudely said we dont have a man there today, so I told her the situation the woman assigned to that position was assisting other customers where I witnessed her call the man up to check us in. It was so humiliating. This needs to be addressed. People should talent everyone with respect. Thankfully, I maintained composure and my cool bc if I had a liken to, I would have given her my thoughts in a not so pleasant way. The officer said nothing though he witnessed it. It was abuse imo. Absolutely horrible airport, avoid at all costs. Serious lack of airline employees. The few employees they do have, are usually not helpful due to their poor attitudes and lack of knowledge in their field of work. Seriously, avoid this airport like the plague. read more

While it is very clean and a nice facility... my flight has never left on time, security measures vary greatly depending on how busy the airport is. In slow times you will get patted down every time, in busy times you won't be checked at all. There are often not staff available at the bag check stations. Other than one of the TSA ladies the staff is generally not friendly or professional. Flights have been delayed for things like staffing shortages for TSA and general check in and the airport does not open early enough to accommodate for this. Other times it is things like the plane has too much weight and "they need to do math". It's rarely weather or anything logical. Just poor planning. I hope the city makes efforts to improve this to not further prevent tourism in this slowly shrinking city. read more

Hands down one of the shittiest little airports in the continental US. Inept and sketchy employees with terrible attitudes, and very questionable processes. Searched my golf bag behind closed doors and took clubs out, stole things, and didn't fasten the bag back in the travel case. Reported to National TSA. Called the "Administration Office" at MLU and always rolled to voicemail. Avoid this place AT ALL COSTS! read more

So happy my home airport is such a nice one. I am a flight attendant that commutes from Ruston to Dallas at least 2 times a week and back for 2 years now so I would say I come here a lot haha. The staff treat me like family and are so kind and welcoming. It is the nicest airport so clean and modern. Has 5 gates but only 2 are used on an everyday basis. They are adding more options to the airport like a little restaurant spot, gift shop, and bar. It's truly such a nice and easy accommodation to Monroe! read more

It's been a number of years since I've had the pleasure to travel in and out of a micro airport. Monroe Regional Airport is a beautiful little airport since under going a complete renovation. I can't imagine what the ROI is but I'd say with the amount of traffic here it must be at least a century or more so thank you to the citizens of Monroe, Louisiana and the surround parishes, this is truly your tax dollars at work for the benefit of the traveling public. This is not a place you need to or would ever want to arrive 2 hours early, it literally took two minutes for me to clear security with TSA Pre-check I think it's probably less than five minutes if you don't have pre-check so don't rush to get behind security unless you're looking to take a nap in the Bayou Lounge or YELP or something else to occupy your mind. There are plenty of friendly folks working here it's seems everyone one is happy to be employed here, there may be times when you think you're the only one in the entire airport. Outside security you'll find a bar, a museum and that's about it once you cross over you'll find solitude and once in awhile you may hear an announcement but on this day even the United Agent at the gate made his announcements without the aid of an intercom, he simply spoke in a normal tone and the dozen or so us behind security could hear him quite well. Waiting on maintenance because these idiots wait until the plane is loaded with passengers to do the walk around for checking the plane. They find some "minor" things not logged. So now we wait on maintenance, seriously, how long does it take for maintenance to arrive! It isn't like there are alot of planes ready to take off here. Woohoo! The time has come...MLU has 6 new terminals! The newly renovated airport is very nice and I am impressed! There's even restrooms in the waiting area after passing through security. McCallister's is the new eatery here. Did I forget to mention free wi-fi...triple yay! All of these improvements give me more reasons to love flying out of here- friendly staff, quick security check-in and nicer facilities! read more

Wowza - is this a REAL airport? LOL I can't judge and while I'm tempted to give less stars, I do understand that it isn't their fault the town is so small and what can they do? This is all that is necessary for Monroe.... But literally, you walk in this airport - and sit down and wait for your plane at one of the 3 gates total. Woah - so not used to that. While it was slightly confusing and I was looking around wondering where the rest of the airport was... it sure is convenient to not have to lug around my stuff for miles. And its kinda neat to have to go outside to the terminal to actually walk up the stairs to the plane, in a way I've never experienced before. But something about the hours of these flights needs to change. I know that it isn't in high demand to leave and arrive at Monroe, Lousiana I suppose, but is it necessary to have the only flights out at 6am or midnight? Sheesh.... Plus they are in need of MEGA- renovation, it kinda looks like nothings been changed since the year 1965. Oh well, slim pickings, there ain't nothing else so I guess you can't really complain. read more

Gotta love the Monroe, La. airport A.K.A. MLU. It has a total of 2 gates, which makes it super easy for you to find your way around. Your family or friends dropping you off at the airport will be able to stay with you and hang out until your flight leaves, because you can easily see your gate and go when you really have to get going. It's awesome. They have a small little cafe that's been there forever and they rarely have long lines when you're checking your luggage in. Landing is a blast too. They haven't updated their runway since 1975. This used to be the Delta Headquarters... just a little trivia for y'all. read more

Remember the good ole days when you could pull up to the curb and wait for your passenger to come out and get in the car, without having to drive around in a circle for 30 minutes, burning fuel and destroying the ozone layer? They still exist at Monroe Regional Airport! Granted when you land, you will ask yourself, "am I going to have to ride a cow to the gate?" but it's actually a great little airport! Really clean and just underwent a renovation. I don't think there was much in the way of food, but who eats airport food anyway if they can avoid it! Oh, I couldn't get the wifi to work here on my mac. That was a bummer. read more

TSA must not feel that Monroe is a terror threat. They didn't waste taxpayer dollars on a microwave to irradiate the passengers. I was able to quickly get through security and to the gate without any hassle which most small airports provide. read more

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to use this airport. I'd put it into the tiny category. If you're finding yourself traveling to Atlanta, Houston or Dallas a lot, this place is so nice you should consider moving to Monroe and commuting. Super clean and great friendly people. I imagine it's pretty quiet most of the time, and your not going to have a whole bunch of good options, but there's a little breakfast/lunch counter. Parking and rental cars are right outside the door. TSA folks do there job well but in a friendly way. No pre-check, but you don't need it. It just doesn't get much easier. read more

It's kind of like having your own private airport. Easy in, easy out. Usually they are blasting Pat Benatar or Hall & Oates on the radio. Southern Girls Saloon is a good stop before security if you have time. TSA people are super nice and helpful. Free coffee in the little lounge. Free wifi. The one missing thing here is an upstairs bar where you can sip a cold beverage in full view of the runway. There is some space on the second floor that I hope they repurpose for this reason! read more

Long overdue review. Very small airport. Nice and clean. I think there was one restaurant and it was closed when we landed. The airport is clean however watch your electronics. One of mine was missing after an additional security check of my purse where I had all of my items. Unfortunately we were already on the plane when I noticed it was missing. When my husband went back to check before boarding no one knew anything, We wanted to leave the plane to check again however the captain (Delta) was awesome and did a check and lo and behold returned with our item. Guess we were fortunate that it was a small airport and a small plane. Not sure if we would've had the same luck at a busy major hub. I'm not going to speculate but just pay attention and make sure you have all your electronic items before you board your flight! Especially if they do an "extra check" of your items! Watch closely and check before boarding the flight. read more

Flew in for a July 4th family reunion. The trip ended up being a nightmare. I will never, ever fly into this little airport again. Due to an American Airlines 1st Ofcr calling out sick & AA couldn't find a sub, our family was put in a hotel, but they couldn't give us our bags; they went ahead to Monroe. AA switched our flight to United. On United,, our connecting flight was delayed. We got to Monroe & they ticketing & baggage area were CLOSED for the night. Again, no luggage! On the return, the only 3 departures were canceled w/ no flights going out on Sunday. All flights booked on Monday. We're stuck & can't fly out until Tues. (an extra 2 whole days). No hotel, food or car rental allowed this time because it's due to weather. Can't sleep in airport because they CLOSE. I had to cancel performances & a mandatory surgical procedure on Tues. After patiently (no one was rude to her) standing in line, waiting for over 1-hr for the ONLY 1 ticket agent to redirect our flights, there was NO apology made to my family from the ticket agent, at all! In fact, she had an beligerent attitude that we were inconveniencing her. I will NEVER, EVER fly into this little airport again! read more

Monroe Regional is a cozy little airport with limited flight options. Rental car companies are on premises and TSA screening only has one line. That's right, only one line! They don't have a separate line for those with TSA pre-check; everyone is required to remove their laptops and liquids from their bags so that slows down the process. Forget about zipping through security it took me 30 minutes to get through and this was at 6 am with less than 7 people ahead of me! Plan accordingly and allow for ample time. read more

I really like this little airport. At first I had to send a message to my friend to ask her where in the world she was sending me when I was told to fly into Monroe. It's a tiny little place, but even though it is tiny and in the middle of nowhere, it is an airport I will remember fondly. You can show up and get in line to go to your gate like 30 mins or so ahead of time, because there are like 4 or 5 gates only and security opens and closes as flights come and go. They also play the most odd and entertaining mix of 80's and 90's music you could imagine. read more

Back in college, I interned here. It was fun, even if it was the old building that was asbestos infected. It's much nicer now, and home of Delta airlines. Parking is easy, traffic is easy, I just wish all airports were as easily accessed. Oh! And you don't waste a tank full of gas when you have to pick someone up! MLU, I went from flying out of you, to flying into you. And you've come such a long way! read more

Monroe airport is super small, but easy to get in/out of. They have nothing to do after you get through security and nothing to eat. All staff seemed nice enough. Only issue is they don't have enough staff flights get delayed or cancel quickly. My tip is take early morning flight because it's delayed the least amount. read more

This is now my home airport and although I thoroughly enjoy the coziness of about 4 gates, the TSA component is awful. I believe they need to recalibrate their ProVision machine. As an experienced traveler, I never wear metal, have anything in my pockets, wear jewelry, etc and every time I go through the ProVision, a "female assist" is needed. I have traveled through and even had FLL as my home airport for years and not once have I been flagged but each and every time, an area becomes highlighted. I expect the yellow on my back due to my dreadlocs which is an entire different struggle but I get it, my hair is dense . However, I would think that as a TSA employee, they should see a pattern and an increased number of "alerts" on passengers. As I waited for my friend to clear her "alert," 7 other passengers passed through the ProVision and 100% required additional patting. Get it together MLU! read more

Although a new terminal is being built, this seems to be worsening the convenience of the airport. All of the close parking spaces are now rental cars, and the short term parking is completely gone. The prices for flights from Monroe are very expensive. In addition, the planes are getting older and slower. Only Delta seems to still be using commuter jets. Also, all the flights in the morning leave at the same time, so the baggage check gets overwhelmed and your bags are frequently lost. This is all unfortunate because this used to be a great and convenient airport, although the prices have always been high. read more

What observation deck??? An observation deck should offer magnificent views of many types of aircraft as they take off and land. This one offers a building blocking the view of the runway. Please find a new architect & builder that has knowledge of what needs to be done to rectify this mistake (maybe raise the observation deck another two floors or so),This mistake was made many years ago. It is past time for it to be corrected!!! I use this airport at least twice a year and always go upstairs to check the observation deck, hoping to see an improvement, There is none!! I understand there have been numerous complaints over this and many many unhappy people. If you are going to spend millions on an updated airport, why not include the observation deck in your project? We all want an airport we can be proud of and one everyone will comment on as beautiful!! We need panoramic views of the runway at Monroe Regional Airport!!! read more
