I love coming to events here because it's not nearly as overwhelming as the Pittsburgh convention center. I just attended Steel City Con last week and it was a great time. The layout was easy to follow and made sure you didn't miss anything. A couple things made the experience not ideal though. There was no service in the back rooms so you either had to walk outside or to the front vending area to use your phone. That could be from the mass amounts of people there though so I won't knock them for that. It was extremely hot inside though. It was an 85-90° weekend and people had to step outside to cool down. If they could find a way to get it cooler inside, this venue would be exceptional. read more

Attended the Totally Rad Vintage fest this weekend. My first time going to the center. Parking was a bit hard but was expected as we did think this was going to be a pretty busy event. What a blast!!! It had more vendors than I thought it would. Every booth was packed with some cool stuff. Lots to see. This was a great venue to have this at. Loved that they had the concessions open and a bar. read more

Second time here for a convention. What I will say in the positive is that the forklift staff is very helpful and friendly. However the convention owners are very very unflattering and unreasonable. Place inside is very nice, and again the staff like Phil are very helpful and take care of moving in items. read more

for many years, the SteelCityCon has been held at this venue. Every year it gets bigger and bigger and the venue is just too small. They expanded to the hotel, and everything is a cluster people barely get through you spend an excessive amount of money for a three day pass and then you could add on the standard VIP for an additional $150 or if you want a specific celebrity upwards of $500 if you choose not to spend the additional for the VIP the odds you meet your favorite celebrity are nil. cut off people who were waiting in line for five hours to meet somebody. This is not cool, not cool this venue is too small for the caliber in the amount of celebrities they get. this past convention was a nightmare. I waited in line for two hours. They cut me off so she could go to her Q&A. I did not get a number and my time was considered not valuable at all. I contacted them and they said they would forward my complaints and concerns to management, I am highly upset and will not be attending any future conventions as long as it's at this venue read more

Fun place to go for the Steel City Con...lots of great little setup vendors, food available that's not too bad, and the folks running around in costumes are an absolute hoot! The Con usually has a reasonable group of 'stars' you can see and pay for autographs. It's a fun day there...just take your wallet. Over 20 bucks to get in the door. You can negotiate any vendor purchases you've interest in. read more

This is a nice size convention center in front of the famous Monroeville "Dawn of the Dead" Mall. It is about as simple as it gets, traveling to this mall. There is not an overabundance of amenities. But, the bathrooms are typically clean. The staff has been very helpful and friendly, in my experience. Compared to the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philly, though, it pales. This one is very plain Jane. But location makes this place an attractive destination. read more

This is the third time I've been to the Convention Center for the Pittsburgh ComiCon with my husband who's a collector. I really do enjoy this location... The facility is very large and accommodates large events well. The restrooms are plentiful and there is a place for snacks. Parking is pretty good. Only negative I really have - smokers. You can't walk in or out of the place without having to deal with cigarette smoke blowing in your face. They should really have a designated area for smokers - AWAY from the main doors. read more

Decent convention center of a decent size. Usually only come out for conventions like Steel City Con; which is always fun and packed with fans, celebs and vendors. Great time to people watch. I'll say the staff at convention center handles for traffic and congestion well. Though it gets crowded it's an enjoyable time and easy to navigate. read more

Bad parking area and the Steel City Con had a line that stretched for days. Never had an issue getting in before...today was awful. Went and could not get in. We were told, maybe later. Later the line was worse. They offer prepaid admission but I don't know that it would have helped. That line wrapped all the way through the lot. Maybe it is time to change the venue...I am willing to pay to park if it is a bigger venue and I can get in. And secondly $30 per person to get in. 5 of us ate after we did not get in, including alcohol for the same price of what would be three adult admissions. What??? Incredibly disappointed!!! read more

Since the NRA convention is in town It made me remember the Gun show I went to at the Monroeville Convention Center. It is located right near the Monroeville Mall. One Saturday afternoon we decided to make the trip and I was excited to see all the crazy weapons! Action Movies are one of my favorite choices when catching a film, The Matrix, the Crow, Underworld! I have my Selene costume ready for Halloween already! I thought that the gun show would be filled with gruff super villain types. Whoa was I wrong! Booths and tables were set up throughout the giant space so to see everything that was offered you would zig zag back and forth. A lot of the tables displayed the usual loads of knives, tazers, and mace. Display cases are stocked with ammunition and all sizes of handguns, rifles, and antique weaponry I don't know why but I love weapons. The first time I ever went to a shooting range I felt a huge wave of relief. I had been terrified of hand guns for the longest time. (A trait instilled by my father as a child to keep me away from firearms.) I realized that the weapon in my hand capable of ending life was also simply a machine or a tool, nothing more. Training to use it made me feel like I was in control rather than helpless. Moral of the story I actually like going to a shooting range to shoot. It feels pretty bad ass I must say. The pearl handled 22 I spotted was so cute! I had images of hiding it in a boot or garter belt strolling around a dangerous menace to be reckoned with, but then I thought where would I ever wear that? Will this be my new signature accessory? Obviously not, but in my fictional life Hell YES! It was quite amazing to see the amount of weapons that are legal to own, machine guns, army gear, a bazooka! Why would anyone have those at home? It was a learning experience to see what was out there and a little scary. While I was picking out a Tazer these guys were messing around with them pointing at each other. It did make me step back from the table and I could tell the vendor was fuming! I ended up with a pink tazer (I wanted black) and a secret knife necklace. My boyfriend at the time convinced me to get pink because black would get lost in my purse. What I really wanted was a switch blade, those were pretty sinister looking! Illegal to carry though. A new experience at the gun show for sure! Now if someone ever messes with me I'll be standing over them with my pink tazer laughing! You just got zapped by the pink lady! read more

Decent venue. The gun show 4/28/19 was very overpriced & many tables were set up to seek donations & others were there to sell non-gun related items, such as crafts. I did find a couple OK deals, but most of the guns were priced OVER retail. There was a vendor selling stun guns for $20, when a quick online search finds the same item for $8.95. I can understand a profit margin, but a 225% markup is a bit much. That being said, be sure to know the current prices of what things should be before buying there. read more

Great amount of space. I go to the holiday craft show every year. The parking lot is also large but does fill up quick.

I have never been inside the center but I understand it is pretty nice. I do however wish that the people who go to events there would pay more attention to where and where not to park. I went to the Jo-ann store that is across from the center, I could not even find a parking space, I had to leave without shopping because their lot was full of cars from people at the convention center. It is very clearly is posted that it is not a parking lot for people going to events at the center. I wish all those cars would have gotten ticketed. CAN PEOPLE NOT READ???????? read more

Very nice space, much cleaner and brighter than the old Expo Mart. I was there to help a friend who had a table at Steel City Con, and then again for Celebrate Monroeville. Having a shuttle for Celebrate Monroeville was very cool, especially since there was no parking to be had without using the K-Mart parking lot. The bad...the bathrooms were deplorable when I was there for Celebrate Monroeville. The bathrooms in the far left corner area (if you are standing at the main entrance with the doors at your back) more than half of the stalls had some kind of human excrement smeared onto the seats. Very disappointing especially when there with small children. Also the ATM machines have exorbitant fees! I think the fee for the ATM was $3.50. Three Fifty?! Are you serious? Had I not been there with my two nieces (both under 6) and my mother I would have left to run to the mall to withdraw money. read more

Years ago, I frequented the old Monroeville Expo Center. While this new center is more aesthetically pleasing on the outside, the inside is small. Also, there seems to be a lack of parking. You can park in other places and there is often shuttle buses, but if you want to actually park at the Convention Center, you want to get to the event early. read more

Went here for the Antique Military Show. It was HUGE and took us about 2 and a half hours to look at everything.
