A beautiful historic property with lots of space for gathering. We were hear over the weekend for a wedding and took advantage of the many spaces to gather on the lobby level, the pub and the grand ballroom on the 17th floor. Service was overall good at each venue. The lobby restaurant didnt open until 5pm. However the pub was able to accommodate our needs. The adjacent bakery and coffee shop was a nice venue to have. I had a wonderful stay here and would happily stay here again! Stepping into this historic 110 year old hotel feels like a time capsule of opulence. I was immediately blown away with the foyer! At check in, there is fruit infused water to quench your thirst. Make sure you keep your room key in hand because you will need it to operate the elevator (once in, hold it against the black box until light turns green and quickly select your floor). The hallways were incredible! And still had their old charm! I even picked up the old fashioned telephone and it rings the front desk! You can use it shall you need something ... if for some reason you cannot enter your room, just pick up the black phone in the hallway and they will come to you (this didn't happen to me, but just a tip if it does). I stayed in room 1470 and absolutely love my view of the gothic architecture of the Union Trust. I looked out my window a million times! The size of my room was huge! I could have done cartwheels all over the place! The WiFi is complimentary for guests. There's cable TV. Maybe other options too but I didn't have my tv on much to know. The water pressure deserves its own special shout out! Holy moly it was heaven! And the brand of washes they had was nice! Usually the conditioner isn't good enough in hotels for my hair but this was just fine! And there's a good blow dryer on the back of the door (I still used my own because I have a lot of hair and it's long BUT had I forgotten it, their hair dryer would have been just fine at 1875 watts. There's a tag on your door that you can hang if you'd like to skip housekeeping for a day and the hotel will donate a meal for doing so .. check out the tag for more info! There's also cards you can put on your bed if you want your bedding changed. I was never bothered in my room by housekeeping. I was never bothered by noise. I never experienced a phony phantom call to my room. (All things I've experienced at other places). You will get a free drink at checkout you can get a beer at the tap room or a coffee at Mellon Square (on site). It is not good for the speakeasy ... and yes, it's a real speakeasy that existed in the 1920s you could access thru tunnels under the city! So cool! On checkout day, the event I attended was going to start early and finish after checkout time. Since I was up late the night before, the front desk said I was welcome to bring my bags down now for bellhop to hold, but they also put me for a late checkout at 1pm so I could come down late the next day too. So partway thru the event just before 1pm I brought down my bags and they held them for the next 90 mins I was there. I parked across the street at the Mellon square parking garage ... Apple GPS marks the garage in the wrong place FYI ... it marks it about a block away but it is directly across the street from the hotel, with the entrance to it being on the cross street. I paid $44 to park there from Thursday around 5pm to Sunday around 3pm. Not bad. They do have valet parking at the hotel too but that is $55 per day I believe. Leaving was sad. I would have liked more time to enjoy this place. I would love to come back sometime! I have nothing bad to say about this place. Wonderful staff and incredible hotel! Omni never disappoints with its pop-up bars. Cutest Valentine's Day decor? Ambiance with the flowers + lighting? Tasty drinks that also were spot on with the cups? The bartenders were nice and made great drinks, so you got the bang for your buck. The seating wasn't too bad but we also went when it opened. The lighting was a little too dark for my liking but the colors from the decor helped to spritz it up. Can't wait for the next one! read more

Theo had some great eating options on site. Their cafe in the hotel was really good. And Theo pub was very cozy. Beautiful building! The staff is very welcoming! I feel like they really enjoy their guests. I think it's a good location. You can walk to the food court, which is not too far from the hotel. Beautiful historical hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Two restaurants with bars, plenty of seating, conference rooms, and accessibility to downtown restaurants and other businesses. The reason for only the three star rating is the services was below par. We came for early check-in and were told that there was not a room available, but that they would contact us when one was ready. Never did hear back from them so we went back to the front desk hours later and checked in with another desk clerk. Staff acted like they really didn't care whether you were there or not. The upstairs bar had a very friendly bartender, but the speakeasy downstairs which you have to tip to get into had very poor service and the drinks were terrible. The ambience was amazing in the speakeasy, but bartenders and waiting staff were below par. Doesn't matter how great your hotel looks , it's the people that make it great or bad. May give it another try when in Pittsburgh but not sure. I will say the valet parking staff was the friendliest of all of the Omni staff. read more

My wife and I have such a wonderful history with this hotel. We got married here, and it was the best night of our lives! Every time we are in the city, we come and hangout in the beautiful lobby, even if it's to have a cup of coffee from the coffee shop or a drink from the lobby bar. They have a Prantl's Bakery opening soon, which is just another incredible amenity. We have attended a candlelight concert here in the Urban Room, and it was an incredible evening. We recently attended a friend's wedding here, and we told the front desk it was also close to our two-year wedding anniversary and that we got married at the hotel. They surprised us with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and flower petals on the bed. It's these gestures of Omni staff going the extra mile for us that make us come back again and again to capture the joy we've always felt here. The hotel is older, yet elegant. I've never had a bad stay here. If you get a chance, checkout the speakeasy and do a high tea in the Terrace Room. Both are great experiences! read more

Cirque & Sip is the newest pop up bar in town located inside the Omni William Penn Hotel! They did a fantastic job with the decor inside! I loved the detailed decorations, cute photo ops, and fun theme! The circus themed cocktails were really cute although a little too sweet for my taste and I like that they have crowd favorite snacks like mini corn dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy available. The pop up will be open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through Labor Day! read more

Wonderful hotel that is convenient to all the things in the city. Very historic and has loads of charm. Theres lots of dining and drinking options in the hotel. This hotel has been in existence since 1916 and the historic details are still there in all their glory. It is obvious that great care is taken in maintaining and honoring the heritage of this place. The lobbies, open public spaces, and the rooms are very well preserved and very clean. There's a coffee shop and several restaurants. There's also a gift shop that is open 7 days a week. There's also a Speak Easy which I highly recommend. The room itself was very spacious and clean. It was actually huge! Lots of space. We had a king sized bed and two separate bathrooms. One with a toilet and a vanity and the other with a toilet and a shower/tub. There were two closets, a desk, and a large window that was the length of the room and gave terrific views and light. There was a fridge, coffee maker, TV, and lots of outlets. The temperature was very comfortable and they even had a spare pillow and blanket in one of the closets. Everyone that works at this hotel is very friendly and pleasant. They were very accommodating and helpful. They do have valet for $45 per day or there's a garage across the street that you can park in for a daily fee. For sure would stay here again! read more

This a a very nice hotel I downtown Pittsburgh. It's over 100 years old. It has a lot of charm. The staff are great and the rooms are very nice. Price seemed reasonable for our room. They have several places to eat and drink on the property. They have a very nice gym with multiple treadmills, bikes and ellipticals, as well as some machines and free weights. This place had it all, location, vibrations, celebrations, and more. The hotel is a blend between luxury, modern and comfort. Upon entry your eyes are greeted with the beautiful interior from ceiling to the floor. Each furniture is brilliantly placed for a timeless look and comfort. With three places for drinks and fun it's hard to go anywhere else. Each gathering are felt like an episode of Cheers, you want to go where everyone knows your name and boy do the staff remember. Each eatery was delicious, well priced and local. I must say that unit 1430 was just perfect, the room was cozy and made me feel at home. Candlelight concerts - Queen They offered candlelight, string quartet, & Queen. That is exactly what we got. Two of the quartet's English was so heavily accented, I had no idea what they were saying. An hour was more than enough. It left a sour taste in my mouth that the musicians had a tip jar outside the performance area. Two tickets were at least $80 - $176. The hotel's performance bar had Diet Coke for $5 in a glass tumbler, not a bottle. Beer was being sold in a bottle. Water was free by the cup. read more

They did a Valentines pop up bar and it was awesome! There was a bit of a line to get in but then once we did we were able to get a table. I recently stayed here for a night while visiting Pittsburgh. The hotel is beautiful from the outside from the inside is where the issues begin. It is in desperate need of a remodel. the foundation of a once beautiful space with sweeping chandeliers in French windows is present, however, everything from the paint, the drapes and the carpet is it in the state of disrepair. Parking is also a huge issue as aside from $55 a day valet parking the hotel does not offer any on-site parking. There's a dingy garage across the street that you can use, again with no In-N-Out privileges. the rooms are at the level of a best Western, not very clean, and the bed in the room 1144 was not comfortable and sinking in the middle. The building is historic and I found it. A little disappointing that none of the staff I talk to could relate any of the history of the building to me. Overall, I would not stay here again. read more

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Pittsburgh. Our room was comfortable, but dated, and stocked with coffee (Keurig) and bottles of water. My kids liked exploring the hotel and seeing/reading some of the history in the lobby area. The major downside is the parking - $40 a day for valet is kind of steep, and I did not see a self parking option close to the hotel. read more

There are some people that are simply customer focused and go above and beyond to make sure the customer is satisfied...and it is natural. It started with my reservation. Kayla was simply a joy. Now that may seem like something that is supposed to be a given, but sadly in my experience (especially in the last few years) that is not the case. Kayla was so pleasant and accommodating that I told her I appreciated her kindness. She answered, "that is my job." I let her know although it may be her job, customer service is many people's jobs and they do it poorly. Then when we arrived and was checked in by Thomasine it was yet another level of pure professionalism. Although we had an interesting experience with another employee it is obvious that is not the Omni William Penn way and during check-out Thomasine and Kayla assured us of this. It was an amazing stay (the service, the room/accommodations, the amenities) and Kayla and Thomasine are wonderful representatives not only of the company but of customer service perfected. What they didn't know is we were in town for a sad occasion. We came to Pittsburgh to lay to rest the Patriarch of our family that died 5 days before his 95th birthday. They helped to make a sad occasion easier and for that we will forever be grateful. read more

I am not rating the hotel itself but their outrageously overpriced " High Tea ", which not including parking, amounted to a $70. bill with gratuity for three small cups of tea, three finger sandwiches, and a few cookies, which I could have bought at a store, we had to ask for lemon, sugar (no tongs), and no choices of tea or food. The tables were put together unevenly, immediately causing a spill, which staff were quick to clean up, but could have been prevented. This might be OK if you just wanted Christmas atmosphere, which unfortunately was also cold and drafty in the Palm Court; restrooms were located inconveniently down several steps, and a key was needed due to " preventing homeless people from hanging out in the bathrooms. I feel bad for the organizer of this event, who had much higher expectations, as did we all, who wouldn't have minded the cost if this had really been the type of classy "High Tea" deserving of the Omni William Penn. read more

If you are going there to drink at there stations you get whet you get from most hotels, however, the star of the show is the star of the show. The Music, if you pick what you want, who needs voice or introduction because the music is imbedded in time. Not worth the price. They didn't service the room, the toilet didn't flush, housekeeping carried on a 20 minute hallway conversation before 8:30 am on a Saturday. No shower cap or amenities in the bathroom. The lobby is beautiful. They give two complimentary waters. We will stay somewhere else on our next trip here, and avoid Omni in other locations. read more

Beautiful building overflowing with history. We were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The lobby was beautifully designed, creating an inviting and upscale atmosphere. Check-in was seamless, and Candace went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The room was spacious the bed was extremely comfortable. The pop-up bar attached is bustling with energy. Rudolph's this Christmas and Cupid's now are well decorated and fun. The downside are the drinks. Not very good as evident by all the half finished drinks on the tables but that doesn't keep the places from being packed and fun. We look forward to return trips. read more

I really enjoy the Omni in San Francisco, so while visiting Pittsburgh I booked this Omni Hotel. When I walked in, it was quite grand. High ceilings, beautiful lighting fixtures. The front desk staff was very friendly, or at least the gentleman that checked me in.  I was upgraded to a suite, which was very nice. The rooms are a bit dated, but you expect that with an Omni. They were very clean, cozy and comfortable bed. I like the old world feel, so I don't mind its lack of modernes.  Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. After dinner, I returned to the lobby bar - it's called the Terrace Room I believe. There was one bartender. I don't want to exaggerate, but there were roughly 50 people hanging out, some drinking, some not. I quickly noticed the bartender was simply overwhelmed.  I saw a manager walking around, so I asked her why there was only one bartender. Her response was very odd, and I quote, "We know, but we are a union hotel so we can't offer him help unless he asks for it". Now I am realizing everyone is walking on eggshells around this bartender. Customers are not happy, staff isn't happy and apparently there is nothing they can do. He controls it. His pride, the desire to make all the money, trumps the customer. 45 minutes later, I received a drink. Yes, I know both their names, but left them out.  After one drink, I went down to the Speakeasy. It's pretty cool, but good grief, the bartenders there were not friendly at all. I get the feeling the employee morale at this hotel is very low. Very odd vibe. read more

Excellent hotel atmosphere. Stayed a year ago here for same event, candlelight concert by fever. Check in was quick n easy. Room size and overall was great. At 3:30pm in afternoon Friday went downstairs to ask if there was anyplace to eat at hotel and they said nothing was open till dinner. I find that unacceptable not to have at least one place to get a snack in such a higher end hotel. They recommended another restaurant down the street which ended up being below average. Check out was easy as well next morning. Went to hotel coffee cafe which only had 1 staff working with 10 people in line for service. I would've expected better once again. Came here for the Valentines pop-up bar, Cupid's Corner, inside Mellon Square Coffee. The drinks, for the price, were slightly disappointing. To pay $14, I would expect some more decoration to complement the drink, but instead, there was just a simple fruit garnish on the drinks ordered by myself and my friends. The place was well decorated and the employees were nice, but I don't think I would come back to this pop-up bar for the drinks. read more

Lovely stay in an older hotel. Updates have been made and we found ample power outlets, good water pressure and comfortable mattresses. I didn't like the pillows but those are a hard thing to get right. We'd definitely stay here again to have a stay in such a historic property. Bedroom was good but they wouldn't allow us to eat in the main dining room despite being well dressed for dinner and planning a romantic evening around it. Instead we sat out in the lobby. Upon checking out, I noticed our hotel charges did not align with what we prepaid online. If you have a billing question you are directed to write a letter vie email rather than talk to a human with a notice they'll get back to you in 48 hours. Now almost a week later, we have still heard nothing. I will never stay at this Omni again. read more

Locations, Locations, Locations. This hotel is probably one of the most affordable hotel in the downtown area because it is so dated so the rates are usually reasonable. I liked the fact that the rooms have many power adaptors but the weirdest thing about this hotel is the bathroom set up, the room lacks of natural lighting and no window sheer which gives an very unease feeling (google this property and you will know why). Decent night of sleep but its one of the few hotels that I have stayed at that I want to have some sort of lights on when I sleep. For hotel this size, I am surprised they did not have any complimentary water nor coffee at the lobby for the guest in the morning. It feels like this property is tired even with all the history in it. read more

We stayed here for a weekend and there was an event above us for hours. We were not told before hand about this and the front desk assured us "it was going to be over very shortly" meanwhile it lasted another 2 hours of listening to loud obnoxious drums and bass. This hotel is supposed to be "high end quality" yet our phone didn't even work and i had to go to the front desk physically to complain. I would not recommend this place. They do not care about attending to their customers or alerting guests of loud events before hand. They have so many spaces on the first floor but used the top floor for a loud music concert. Inconsiderate and rude!!!! read more

We loved our stay at the William Penn. It's elegant, friendly, beautifully appointed, and in a terrific location. (We were in town to see concerts at PPG and it was an easy walk, as were a number of nice restaurants.) Guest rooms are small but extremely comfortable, with attention to details like convenient usb and electric charging ports, in room coffee service, complimentary bottled water, and so forth. Staff were universally cordial and accommodating, offering helpful concierge services and coupons for nearby restaurants, and swift and easy valet parking. The restaurants on site offer a good range of options, well prepared; the weekend brunch in the Terrace Room was a favorite, as were the fish and chips in the Tap Room. The lobby bar stays open until 1 and is a serene and inviting place for a late cocktail. Highly recommended. If we return to Pittsburgh, we'll absolutely return to the William Penn. read more

So this was my first time ever visiting Pittsburg and on my quest to find a hotel Omni kept on popping up. Despite it not really being the type of hotel I'm typically attracted too, I thought I would give something new a try. Given it's rich and long history (which I barely knew anything about honestly lol), I said why not! The lobby is the most magnificent and grand thing I've ever seen. Felt like I was in the home alone movie. When I arrived to valet, i was encouraged to park in the garage right around the corner because it was cheaper. Really appreciated the staffs honesty about that. Check in was smooth and quick. I had limited contact with staff because I was only there for a night but the interactions I did have with staff were friendly. I stayed on the 7th floor during my stay and I immediately noticed the smell of smoke and smelly carpet. You could visibly see the stains which was off putting. The room itself was spacious but very illustrated. I get that they're trying to keep the hotels original charm and elegance but c'mon. At least update the carpet or shower curtains, something. The side tables were a bit dusty and the room was just blah-- boring. Didn't get a chance to see the fitness room or visit the coffee shop but made sure I made it to the speakeasy. Easily one of my favorite parts of my stay. The drinks were STRONG and the ambiance was very romantic. Thoroughly enjoyed my night out/in. I wouldn't stay here again but I'm glad I got to experience this historic place. read more

This is absolutely a four star, full service, luxury hotel. Such a nice place and it was fun staying here. The Omni William Penn is a beautiful with ornate ceilings, spacious rooms, a maze of hallways and amazing detail in general...with excellent guest service. Upon arrival I checked into Valet (parking is $38.00 a night) and the bellman took my bags to the front desk where I checked in. After checkin I followed the bellman to the room and was taken back at the size of the room. It was an awesome room (room 1425). I stayed in a double room at the conference rate of $225.00 a night. I was so busy with work I didn't eat or drink at the hotel or check out another other amenities. The hotel does show it's age a bit but it adds to the charm and is overwhelming breathtaking. Overall the 4 days/ 3 nights with valet was a total of $883.50. I would add that the Key Card needed for floor access in elevators. Not needed for "L" if you would happen to lock yourself out. Not my preferred hotel brand, but an excellent stay and service. read more
