The bakery has plenty of seating both outside and in. The smell of fresh bread fills your nose as you enter and there's a warmness to the staff and the people within. We didn't eat in today but we will definitely be back. Instead we grabbed a chocolate cookie and a salted caramel brownie and we went on our way. 5pm came round and it was cookie time! The cookie was packed full of chocolate chips and tasted wonderful. It was very crumbly but I liked this about it. I can only imagine it warm and gooey - NOM. Next, the brownie. Moist and melt in the mouth, it was truly delightful BUT I couldn't really taste the salted caramel, it just wasn't strong enough over the chocolate. Still a great brownie. When I went to ask where my order was, there was no apology, just a reply 'it's coming' as if it was reasonable to keep someone waiting so long. When my coffee finally arrived it had syrup in it. I took it back and politely asked them to change it. They denied that there was syrup in there - basically accusing me of lying. I asked for a refund. They were reluctant to refund me and behaved as if I was being unreasonable. The money was eventually put on the counter with a bad attitude and there was no apology. What a predicament tis that I must choose one or two. Walking by we couldn't help but notice the window display. So many tasty treats to tempt the eye and stomach of each and every street goer. We decided to purchase a few items. It is hard to remember the items that we purchased. We took our take away and continued to tour Greenwich and other stops before making it back to our hostel. Upon our arrival our desserts did not appear as when we left due to the jostling along the way. But, the treats were still tasty and delectable. They hit the spot. Fortunately for us, who love all things sweet and tasty, that is their only shortcoming. The presentation is lovely and I often find myself salivating while eagerly waiting to pick my cupcake and make my dash back to my desk to devour the sinful delight. The frosting and sponge are equally delicious; I have had many a cupcake where the one or the other is out of balance. But with Sweet Couture every bite is a delight! My only bone of contention is that they never seem to have the mini cupcakes! I think it is dishonest to advertise but only offer the treats by the box and rarely individually. I love cupcakes, my waistline does not. Sometimes I don't want a full sugar filled confection, just a taste. So please Sweet Couture either stop advertising that you have mini-cupcakes or make them regularly available for individual purchase. Personally I'd prefer the latter because then I could eat a mini cupcake everyday with no feelings of guilty rather than a big cupcake every once in a while.

So far I've only stopped twice and managed to try out their cupcakes and bought a medium chocolate cake for a birthday. The cupcakes are light and airy, and there is a wide variety of flavours (my personal favourite is peanut butter...!). The chocolate cake was just right - not too rich and just enough chocolate. Given the prices, it's definitely a treat, but that's OK since I'm not sure I want cake more often than occasionally anyway.

I came here on a Saturday, a little later than we had planned, but just in time to snag the last of the white chocolate almond croissants with cardamom. Seriously, that single item was worth the entire trip, but add to that the chili and goat cheese danish and you're at a whole other level. I think after this visit I'll have to make a weekly pilgrimage to this lovely bakery. Everyone was so sweet and kind and enjoyed what they were doing. The pastel de nata pastry was delicious. It was the same as an egg custard tart. The apple pie however was disappointing. Nothing like the chunky spice laden apple pie filling you find in the states. They offer a selection of cookies, cakes, ice cream sandwiches, coffees, lattes, etc. they offer cake baking classes, and baking cakes for your party or big day.
