Andrew Forman responded that he would "love to learn more about your ideas for the home," so we scheduled a meeting with him. At the meeting, we explained how we want to age in-place and that function is what is most important to us, not exterior aesthetics and fancy interior design. Andrew told us that his company is good at focusing on design for function. The next day Andrew sent us an email with a list of the next steps we should take should we be interested in working with BLUEPRINT808 Architecture. He said, "Let me know if I can explain absolutely anything on the contract for you in detail." It sounded like a potential good fit for both parties, so we followed up with an email asking Andrew if BLUEPRINT808 is an LLC company and if it is registered with the Better Business Bureau. Those two simple questions must have hit a nerve because after previously acting interested and making it sound like he and his company could and wanted to work with us, Andrew declined and said his company is "better suited to design entire homes with a focus on function and aesthetics." What happened? Why the change? Andrew's behavior also begs the question as to why he agreed to meet with us in the first place since he knew this was for a major renovation and remodel--NOT designing and building a new home. Note that the one other review for BLUEPRINT808 currently on Yelp was in regard to the addition of a carport at a home, NOT designing an entire home. Andrew wasted our time and his--so immature and unprofessional. BLUEPRINT808 claims to have won awards from Hawaii Home + Remodeling. Note that last word: REMODELING. In addition, it is obvious that BLUEPRINT808 is NOT an LLC and is not registered with the Better Business Bureau. They have not even claimed their business here on Yelp. Those facts should be red flags to potential clients. Because of this negative experience, we must report that Andrew and his company have been VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. There are many architects and architecture companies in Hawaii who are reputable and are TRUE professionals. One of them will get our business and make a ton of money in the process.

My wife and I were seeking more storage space for our 1100 sq. ft. home. After calling around to…read moredesign & build contractors, we were put in touch with BluePrint808 Architecture. Andrew the owner intently listened to our needs/wants and after several on-site and skype meetings he drew up several designs that included a beautiful ADU and an impressive Carport for the existing home. Due to financing restrictions, we were only able to build the beautiful 800 sq. ft. Carport which was designed as a flex space for entertainment, exercise, and parking--plus it also included 200 sq. ft. of storage. Andrew's pricing was very fair despite our constant revisions, and his attention to our desires and our budget was foremost in his designs including the build materials to be used (biggest bang for the buck in construction materials and design). He also worked closely with DPP for permitting and we received our permits faster than expected. In the end, we and our chosen builder were very impressed with the final design and the finished carport perfectly matches our existing home and blends well into the country style of homes in our rural community. We have been given multiple accolades from our neighbors and even other construction friends for our carport. Andrew is a credit to his craft and is a true professional in his field. She did an amazing job of hearing my handwavy ideas and converting them into 3D renderings. She nailed the design on the second round of renderings and quickly generated architectural drawings. Being new to Hawai'i she was great at walking me through the permit process, and helping me find contractors and materials. During construction her consistent onsite visits ensured the contractors were following the details in the plans especially when it came to waterproofing. I think his office should charge more so a full time human office assistant can be at his office at least 5 days per week.
