I set up a meeting with Shai Tal A week ago to discuss the renovation of my home. The agreement was he was supposed to pick me up at home and then drop me off back when we were done as the meeting was to take place at an event I even invited him to as my guest. Literally less than an hour before the event he requested I put his girl Friend on the guest list as well which I did. Then with less than 30 minutes before he was supposed to Pick me up he demanded I take an Uber home. When I refused this outrageous request he was a no show. Paid over 8k for engineering plans and permitting over 3 years ago that I never received. I paid for the blueprints for a patio, and for the permitting process. Communication was terrible during the process. Due to a personal situation, I wasn't able to go through with the build at the time, but did pay for the plans and permitting. I didn't receive either. Tal Builders, with Vardit's lead, just helped me complete a beautiful gut renovation of my condo and I am so happy with the experience and output! They did everything from installing the luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout, redoing my bathroom including laying all luxury bathroom tile, kitchen and laundry appliance installation, kitchen, living room and bathroom custom cabinet installation, plus all electrical and plumbing work. I reached out to Tal Builders due to its reviews. I had emailed them a floor plan with my idea for an addition without the need for any plumbing. It was basically the builder's floor plan with measurements that I had drawn on. I just needed the walls pushed out by 8ft on the same side of the house, top and bottom. This was mentioned in my first email. I talked to Victor, their design manager, after making an appointment. He seemed very unprepared with the phone call. He did not review any of the information I had already sent. He was asking me how much I had paid for my house. I am not to sure how it would be relevant. Maybe he was gauging to see how much money they could get from me. He quoted me an estimate of $350,000 based off 600 sq ft addition when the addition I had planned was 462 sq ft. With that being said, he was estimating $583/sq ft for a basic addition. I would be reusing the sliding door and some windows that came with the house; and using standard carpet and vinyl plank flooring. There wasn't anything over the top with what I wanted. I asked if he could email me that quote so I could keep track with different quotes from different contractors, but he refused. Per the information on their website as a source, it is quoted "2000 sq ft $410,000-425,000" as the average cost to build that size of a house. That would bring the cost to $205/sq ft on the lower end. Victor was quoting me 284% more than the average cost to build a house, to only build extensions. It would have costed me almost the same amount as building a house, and this would not be needing to pour a foundation, add plumbing, showers, cabinets, and other more expensive items. I emailed back the main contact with Tal expressing my dissatisfaction with Victor, but I have not received a response. read more

We are so grateful that we met Tal Builders for our full bathroom renovation. This was our 1st big renovation-project so we were apprehensive. Our project manager Ronen was very attentive and he gave us confidence from the first meeting to the end of the project. He was on-site every day, he was accommodative to our requests and demands, with a smile - and he made us comfortable. We also appreciate our designer Ronnie for providing us with computer rendered 3D images of our initial ideas. The beautiful images were inspirational and gave us confidence in pushing our ideas further. She also guided us purchasing of many of the materials, which we would not be able to do without her; and she made sure we didn't forget anything. And our special big thanks the build-team of Henry and PK for their amazing work! They showed up every morning, worked hard, and the project was completed on time. Their craftsmanship was meticulous, and every detail was to a high standard. Viktor, The reason I could not answer my phone is because I was in a meeting. I specifically said to Amit to wait in the car and I will get him when I'm ready. He was 45 minutes early. You can see how I am offended when I am on a time constraint and people cannot respect time. He gets out of his car and starts introducing himself to the previous builders I just met with and even exchanged cards with one of them. I do not appreciate this. I was given a time of 10:00am for an appointment at my home in Kahalu'u for 1,224 sq ft deck estimate repair/replacement and to allow for possible 30 minute leeway. Unfortunately, after several texts citing just minutes away, I informed the company rep if he wasn't here by 11:30am I was closing my gate. He called at 11:30 informing me he didn't know what house was mine although I had forwarded photos of my property entrance. I commissioned a major project with this company. Their estimate was high, but they're rated well, so I agreed. Within days, the project manager (Avi) was asking me for more money. He had obviously miscalculated some aspects of the project and expected me to cover his errors. That was not the last of my issues with this company. They had no respect for my property. They consistently threw cigarette butts and trash around my property. All contractors do that, so I tried to ignore it. However, I couldn't ignore when they started dumping construction materials around my property. I noticed the first few, dumped in my planters. I asked Avi repeatedly to remove them. Instead of removing them, they just kept moving the debris around my property to other planters, killing my plants by dumping the debris on them. This aggravated me to no end, but I could not get them to clean it up. By the end of the project, they had a dozen dump sites around my property. Part of the project included pouring some new concrete. The concrete they poured was rough and uneven. I brought it up immediately to Avi. He assured me they would fix it before the end of the project. Didn't happen. My project also included a railing along the edge of my deck. They bolted the railing into wood backing, which they clearly didn't pre-drill, as they all cracked. I immediately pointed that out to Avi and asked him to fix it. Instead of fixing it, he glued another piece of wood over each one to try to hide it. Again, I couldn't get them to ever fix this. The majority of my project is nice, but Avi's project management was atrocious and several details were unsatisfactory. The disrespect for my property was the worst experience of the entire project. I would not recommend this company. Contractors in Hawaii are terrible, but this one is among the worst. read more

I researched a lot of companies but felt the most comfortable with Yaniv. I'm glad I listened to my intuition because working with them has been pretty seamless. There were a few minor bumps a long the way but I really appreciate how Yaniv is so calm and accommodating. And if there was anything I was unhappy with, he was sure to fix things. If you're looking to do renovation work, please read this. All the photos of projects they do look impressive and of course, the positive Yelp reviews. After getting other estimates, I decided to use TAL Builders. Initially, everything looked promising, they were organized and very professional. Then, on the first day, I get an alert from a neighbor that some guys who don't speak English showed up, trying to find a house. My contact persons arrive and goes over my project and assure me that if anything comes up, just contact either of them. Then they leave. Whaaat? You leave workmen who don't speak English to do a job? Since part of my project involved drywall work, I expected rooms to be sealed, furniture, etc. to be covered. Instead, a roll of construction paper was put down and plastic sheeting was put up only around the area they were working in and tools were put down directly on the carpet. Oh no, here we go. With no protective gear, the guys dry-scraped drywall covered in dust. Then, they walk through the house even taking shortcuts, raining dust wherever they go. The paper walkway was eventually full of holes but do you think they replaced it? One of the guys helped himself to my ladder from outside and was using it inside. He also went into a storage closet without even asking taking a broom to sweep up their mess. After mentioning this to my contact person, my ladder was put back and didn't bother to clean off the drywall mud. The workers did cover up a dining room light with a black trash bag and while they were going in and out of the area, one of them brushed a switch and left the light on. Late at night, I happened to notice a spot of light from a gap in the bag. Lucky that the bag did not catch fire and also pissed for the waste of electricity that they don't pay. When it was time to re-do the bathroom, the workers were making comments about other spaces in the house they had no business going into. They even looked for another bathroom to use without asking! Closing the door meant nothing to them because they would just open the door and enter. Imagine going to use your bathroom and find the toilet seat up, drywall dust and mud on the door handle and floor. Worse than pigs. Their work space was a mess. They never cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. One guy was tiling my bathroom floor with bags of garbage sitting in the bathroom. There was always a circus of different workers showing up for the day with no explanation as to what type of work they were going to do and of course, you couldn't ask questions because they don't speak English. Some just stood around watching. These are the highlights of my nightmare: -TAL makes you buy your own material. Aside from the fixtures and tile, they make you buy tile grout, Schluter systems, paint, light switchs, carpet tacks. I mean, really? A construction company? I had to ask if I had to buy nails and screws, too. -Unable to communicate with a crew that has no English speaking point person. -Workers who do not respect homeowner's property: entering the property when I was not home at the time and seeing workers walking around the perimeter; no use of drop cloths or sheeting to cover furniture; dumping food/drinks directly in my trash bin, plastic in my green bin; entering and using other areas of the house without permission; leaving a water hose on overnight and a dining room light on; asking to allow eating their lunch in the front porch area only to find skin peels (yes, disgusting skin peels) scattered around the bench. -Having suppliers call me saying "There's a guy here that doesn't speak English asking about an order..." It took up a lot of their time looking for orders from elsewhere. -Being rushed to urgently buy more tile and after getting home to look at the job, the amount was questionable. It resulted in having to go back to the tile supplier to cut back on the shower tile reorder. -Having labelled different paints on each can only to find out that the bathroom was painted with the bedroom color, the trim paint was painted on the ceiling. -Removing the toilet but not covering the hole to prevent sewer gases from entering the house and suspecting that the toilet water inlet was being used as a water faucet and the toilet outlet used as a drain. -Installing poorly cut tile that was full of jagged and chipped edges. Refusing to fix the bathroom window screen after tiling was done and the screen no longer fit and the tiles partially covered the window screen clip hole. -Installing bathroom vanity but did not align the drawers and left it as is. When bringing it to TAL's attention, they blamed the vanity supplier. Luckily, the supplier sent a worker out to adjust it correctly explaining how the drawer adjusts after installation. -Lack of silicone caulking on the vanity countertop. Using an iPhone flashlight, it was pointed out the silicone is hidden between the backsplash and countertop. **not done but maxed out on space** read more

I am an investor that lives out of state. We purchased a home in Hawaii Kai earlier in the year with plans to vacation during the summer while house is being remodeled and sell at the end of the year. The plan so far has been executed perfectly thanks to the Tal Builders team and more specifically Yoni has been an amazing help. I tried booking an appointment with this company to do an estimation for my house I needed alot of work done unfortunately I never got one. I was contacted and asked to move my estimate time from 1000 to 1130 and said that was fine day of I messaged and asked around 1134 if they were still coming. I was told the project manager Meny was running late and to notify if he hadnt shown up in a few minutes. I figured things happen ill give him more time, around 1630 I had to get ready for work so I messaged back to let them know I was not gping to be home any longer. I did recieve a call back from them asking if I wanted to reschedule but im not sure if anyone was going to show for that appointment also. Not sure what exactly happened they have really good reviews but its hard to trust a company when the follow up for the first meeting isnt met. Aug 7th the day I wrote the review the owner called me to try and get things taken care of. I understand issues pop up and a lapse in communication happened with Meny. Caution... 0 stars! Received a verbal quote from Tal Builders after meeting and going over a small renovation project. After the 2nd meeting and project walk-through a month later, they submitted a written quote that was 20% more than the original verbal quote. The estimated construction period also increased from 5 weeks to 12 weeks. They claimed that things were added to the scope of work in the 2nd meeting, but that was untrue. We had our bathrooms renovated. Tal had very good reviews. The estimate and promises by the PM, Yaniv was very promising. He kept repeating "I'm here for you." However once work began the problems began. They use workers directly from China who do not speak, read or understand English. There is just one person who can translate but he is always somewhere else. And the workers are not licensed plumbers or electricians. They do the plumbing and electrical work unsupervised. Yaniv claimed they were licensed in both electrical and plumbing. He promised to bring the licenses three times but never did. They insisted on doing the quartz fabrication in our driveway. something unheard of, and left a mess. I had to repaint my fence. They claimed to caulk in areas such as behind appliances but did not and I had to do it myself. You have to supervise the work yourself as they can't read installation instructions. They threw away a part from a bathroom fan and almost threw away the toilet tank cover if I didn't catch it. There were too many discrepancies to list. When I told Yaniv I shouldn't be expecting to supervise his worker he told me why am I stressing about this when there are people in other places dying. I ended up fixing their mistakes because they took so long to come back and I just dreaded dealing with them. read more

After getting bids from 3 contractors we chose TAL. They provided a complete proposal, met with us several times for measurements, scope of work, discussion and choice of materials. The job was a 1200 square foot deck, surrounding our house on two sides about 3-4 feet off the ground with one set of stairs. Having been in place for over 40 years, in a very wet environment, it was an almost complete redo and included moving water and electric lines. Access to the deck was from behind the house which made it difficult to stage and access materials. The job was done beautifully and on time, being home I could see the daily progression and the excellence of the work being done. All areas were cleaned up and secured daily, safety was maintained at all times! Any questions or concerns were promptly answered and resolved.
