Best burger ever! Onion rings....are every one. Veggie burger with big chunks of veggies. Bread was soft, tasty and fresh. Nothing in America compares to this place.

The server is super sweet and friendly but I don't remember the name. We just wanted to find a place somewhere between the train station and the castle. The food is good, but I wasn't really hungry. We had the nachos and burger. Both were good. They offer burgers/fries type food but also Tex Mex food - interesting how they view American food :D

Lunch with my roommate on the snow day

My roommate & I decide to take the hour train ride from Glasgow to Dunblane to make the most of our snow day and I'm glad we made the decesion to. Starving, we decided to have lunch at Monterey Jack's and it was a phenomenal idea. The service was great, the atmosphere was really relaxed and the food was REALLY good. We both decided on veggie burgers. I had the Veggie Rodeo with a side of Onion Rings and my roommate the Purple Rain with a side of Fries. I devoured my burger so quickly that I didn't realize until about halfway through that it was some sort of fried mac & cheese patty, which was PHENOMENAL. I'm used to going to places and only seeing the standard and bland Black Bean Burger. It was great to go somewhere that not only had options, but great options for non-meat eaters. I'd advise everyone to go check this gem out!

Awesome waffles with double bacon and maple, all for a bargainous £5!

Brilliant. Wandered by here last week and resolved to try it at the next breakfastable opportunity and are very glad we did! Cheap, cheerful and good service, 100% would come back to try their daytime menu. When we arrived the place was nearly empty which meant we got the server's almost undivided attention so the service was great but also not intrusive. As soon as our pals arrived with their wee toddler the chap quickly brought over a high chair without us having to ask and were very happy to accommodate us moving furniture around a bit. So the food then... Great portion sizes, fun presentation and everything tasted awesome. We had two lots of waffles with bacon and maple and two lumberjacker breakfasts as well which were an impressive tower of nice fluffy pancakes stacked with bacon, sausages and eggs. Everyone was really happy with the food and drinks, the coffee was tasty and although we didn't take advantage of the "bottomless" offer it was fun to see it on the menu. This is a place with a good sense of humour (we chuckled at the "wino's list" and the descriptions of bottles as good, gooder, great and "sell your granny red" for example), were pleased to find that they do takeaway/delivery, they have an app and apparently take PayPal too. It seemed to be a place really switched on to what their customers might like. They didn't seem bothered that we dithered around for a while before leaving which made the polite laid back atmosphere was one of my favourite things about MJs aside from the delicious waffles (obviously). Our whole bill was just around £40 for four breakfasts and five drinks, pretty reasonable. We'd recommend it for sure but I'll be interested to see if everything is quite as awesome at a busier time.

If the fryer is broken, how are there fries in the window?

Just visiting Dunblane and asked the local inn keeper for a recommendation on where to go. This place came up and when we got back and were asked how it was they apologized profusely. The Dunblane location is absolute garbage. We were told that the fryer was out of order but then saw basket after basket of fries come out the window (see picture). I went to the window and asked the cook if the fryer was broken and was told very gruffly that yes, it was. Then the cook put fries in the window. WTH? So we wait for our "burgers" and what we end up with if four charcoal briquettes on burnt buns. The server asked "How is everything?" and I show her the food. She says "Oh, that's a little overdone" and walks away. This is a terrible restaurant that should have it's permit revoked. Absolute garbage.

Friendly and quick service; great selection of burgers and dogs; prizes somewhat reasonable although portions not quite excessive

I ordered the Good Morning Breakfast Bap which is a square sausage, egg and bacon in a bap and I have to say it's the best I've ever had. Perfect. Wouldn't change a single thing about it. The chai could have been better, a bit thicker for my taste but still nice. The staff were wonderful and let us sit in before they had fully opened to get out of the cold. The interior is very modern and trendy, and the fairy lights add a lovely touch. Very pleased with this place yet again!

I've yet to find a better place in Falkirk to enjoy a beer outdoors and I'm going to miss it now that Autumn is starting to make itself more and more obvious. Eventually, we headed inside one lunchtime to try the food. Inside, Johnston's does just as good a job. It;s light and airy, there's plenty of seating (including some upstairs above the bar). We got comfy at a table and chose from their lunch menu. I ordered the fish and chips while my partner went for the steak pie. The fish and chips was enormous. I had thought, since this was the lunch menu, that it would be a slightly more moderate portion. Not that I'm complaining because it was also delicious. My partner loved his steak pie too. They run a loyalty card (although it's new and I'm not sure the system totally works as it eventually will). They offer cocktails and seem proud of their wine list, but they also offer good coffee and cake, as well as their own home made tablet. They cater to groups and parties and they run offers throughout the week, like two main meals for £7.99 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. So far, as far as I can tell, Johnston's is doing everything right.

As someone who truly loved little about Scotch, it was a wonderful way to taste and compare smoky vs peaty whiskeys. Fun. Our table was upstairs and we sat next to an open door which allows for fresh cool air. It was a warm day in Edinburgh. Our server was wonderful, patient and really helpful. Our choices were truly delicious. We started with the fish board, olives, and mushroom skewer. We loved them all. I enjoyed the cod main dish, while my wife finished the starters. The side of asparagus was also excellent. The mouse dessert was delicious but very rich, it's enough for 4 people. The cost of dinner was also totally reasonable. I recommend this place highly.

I'm not used to seeing it in blocks and our end time was bolded but not the start time. We showed up at the end time. We were charged obviously because you have to give a card for a guarantee. I get that. I was fine with it since it was my fault. What I wasn't fine with was the rude (dare I say bitchy?) hostess who I spoke with upon arriving. She was awful to me and looked at me like I was garbage. Even after that, I decided to rebook and pay attention to the time. The restaurant had been recommended to us by a relative as the "best place they had eaten" while in Edinburgh and I wanted to try it. I booked for lunch and when we arrived the male host was lovely. We were sat early (because I always show up to a reservation early) and then we waited almost a half an hour for the one waitress there to come and help. It was fine. I can understand they are understaffed and busy. But then the food, it was also just fine. It was decent but not great. Like a lot of things in the UK, it's understated and seasoned. My husband had the pappardelle and my two children and I had the flat iron steak. His pasta had zero flavor. It was a cream based sauce. It needed more salt. As for the steak, it was fine. It was cooked well. Mine was medium rare and the kids both had medium. It was also not seasoned well. However the steak was served with a dipping sauce (a garlic sauce, a peppercorn or lemon mint). We tried all three since we had three steaks and those were all good and kept the steak from being bland. On the plate were chips (fries), which were not salted well but we had the dipping sauces. Also on the plate was plain arugula and a couple on the vine cherry tomatoes. Nothing spectacular. The waitress didn't come back once the entire time we were eating. Overall, it just wasn't worth it for the money we paid.
