As a real estate professional, Philip represented many dozens of my clients over the past decade with brilliant success. He is my first choice for problem solving and my only choice when it takes a master of mediating a solution. Philip Daunt is a fine attorney, who cares. We were asked for a $4,000 retainer. We were invoiced separately at $400.00 each for the consulation. Then we were charged things like Mr. Daunt leaving me a voicemail of 1 minute and 22 seconds at the rate of $40.00. Sending me an email at the charge of $40.00 and reading my very short responce of maybe 5 words another $20.00. All adding up to $700.00 each for my neighbor and I. My neighbor called the office and asked that Mr. Daunt not return the call yet he did and then charged for it. I feel the charges were unfair but you be the judge. I would think twice before hiring him. We fired him and sought out another Attorney.

After telling her where we lived and giving some details she told me that they wouldn't be able to give us a free consultation because we were from a different city. I mentioned that I didn't intend to hire an attorney, I simply had a couple quick questions that I needed answers to and that their website had offered "Free Consultations" as well as the Yelp page advertising this service. She told me that she could take my phone number, when I asked why I couldn't just talk to an attorney now she told me she would be happy to refer me to a Lawyer Referral service, implying that they had little interest in contacting me back. I mentioned that the Yelp page stated they provided "Free Consultations," to which she repeated that they couldn't take our case because we were not from the same city. After a couple more minutes of back and forth she clearly got frustrated and I was instead connected to Mr. Reed. When Mr. Reed got on the phone he was clearly very irate and began by yelling at me that they couldn't take our case because we were from a different city. I calmly explained that I simply had a few quick questions about our situation and that we didn't need to hire an attorney. He stated that they wouldn't give a "Free Consultation" unless there was the opportunity that they would be hired to represent us. I explained that this implies that it's not a "Free Consultation," at which point he got angrier and louder. I was able to calm him down and he did answer my questions, however this type of discourse was highly unprofessional and unbecoming of an Attorney. I wouldn't suggest hiring someone who would so quickly lie to avoid doing a few minutes of work to help a fellow human being.

Great Estate Planning Support!!!…read more I moved from out of state and had to have all of my estate planning documents updated per California law. Daniel Hollingsworth came highly recommended from friends, and I was able to quickly pass him my expired estate/trust documents to 1) make them CA-compliant and 2) also insert my own needed updates to reflect my current estate situation. After he had a chance to review my expired estate plan, I met with Daniel; he explained the differences between my previous state's laws and CA law, the changes he recommended and the rationale for each change. I found his opinions to be very insightful and appreciated the examples and scenarios he gave me to consider for each change. Daniel really put me at choice--and I felt I really understood my choices. I appreciated his explanations and the professionalism he exhibited in dealing with some touchy/feely family considerations too. Daniel and his staff quickly turned around my estate plan, and then he met with me and my young adult daughter so that I could sign off the final documents. He made the sign off quick for me, and yet very understandable for my daughter, who is one of my trustees. He also offered to do the same walk-through of documents for my adult son (also a trustee, but unavailable that day)--and it was so helpful to have everyone feel competent and confident in executing the estate plan together. I recommend Daniel for anyone who needs an estate plan/trust.  It was a night/day difference between his support and my previous experience out-of-state--and motivated me to write this recommendation. In fact, I'm referring my brother to him, as he is in the same process and I know Daniel is someone he can trust and depend on. Laura -- Pacific Grove
