He joined at the age of 3.5 and within a few weeks made significant strides in terms of his learning & development, independence (such as dressing himself, cleaning up after play time, and helping out around the house), and overall curiosity on reading / writing / coloring. GMS still has that small community feel even as the classes continue to grow and the system becomes more mature over time. We are sad to have only learned of this school late in our time in the greater Boston area and wish we could've stayed for the full 3-year cycle.

My oldest has since graduated to elementary school and my youngest is finishing up her 4th and final year before heading to Kindergarten next year. We moved my son from a play based "daycare" to GMS because it was clear that he was hungry for more challenge in that last year before K. He thrived at GMS. Not only did he tell me that he LOVED his new school, he excelled at developing math skills (which he chose to pursue, true to the Montessori philosophy) that even 3 years later, still prepared him to be ahead of his elementary classmates. My daughter has had the benefit of 4 years at GMS. She has developed age appropriate math skills but her passion is reading and writing. At age 4, she was reading and spelling short words, and at age 5 she's reading entire books! She is so happy and proud of herself. Now don't get me wrong. GMS is not pushing my kids in educational drills. Far from it. The kids enjoy lots of outdoor play, craft projects, musical performances, and they are currently rehearsing their annual spring play (seriously the most adorable performance ever on stage!). I also really appreciate the self sufficiency skills the kids are taught (hand washing, teeth brushing, cleaning up after themselves, setting the table, etc). Two of the staff really stand out to us. Miriam C has been my kids' teacher for the past 4 years and she's outstanding. Kind, fun loving, enthusiastic, and structured. Tara S oversees the staff and is also wonderful: silly, warm, caring and organized.

The director and the teachers are so engaged with the kids and its an incredibly warm and welcoming community. We originally visited the school when it was located in Cushing Square. The space was fun and interactive but the new space has really allowed the school to grow in both capacity and programming. It's bright and sunny with plenty of room for more creative play and planned activities. It has an adjacent playground as well as a nearby park for more lengthy outdoor activities. The school provides several special activities which our son loves. Habitat, the Mass Audubon education center, regularly visits his class and provides hands-on exposure to the local fauna. They are also regularly visited by Hugh Hanley, a local musician who leads an hour of song and story telling. These are particularly fun days to be a parent helper in the classroom. Since this was our first foray into school for our son, we are very glad we chose a coop program. It allows us to see our son in his school environment and better understand his development and how we can help shape his growth both at school and home. We also get to know and work with other parents and families in the area. The teachers provide regular feedback which is encouraging and helpful. We particularly love the director who is constantly in the rooms with each group of kids and consistently checks in with us. I would highly recommend this school to anyone but would strongly urge families to look into the program sooner rather than later as the school regularly has a wait list.

Everyone on the teaching staff is extremely committed, detail-oriented, and caring. They are working really hard to create a fun, engaging environment, and to make sure that every child is included and enjoying the experience. The classroom is organized thoughtfully, with an impressive range of activities always available to the children plus daily curriculum plans that include developmentally appropriate and seasonal enrichment activities, and also the year's enrichment activities from outside visitors included theater, music, yoga, and art. There is always so much going on at this school, and yet it manages to feel comfortable and homelike for the kids. We have also really appreciated the co-op aspect of it, since we recently moved to the area from out-of-state. The school has a wonderful mix of families and they have all been very welcoming. This school feels like a close-knit family with teaching geniuses at the helm. I love it, the kids love it, and I can't believe we were lucky enough to find it.

They love going to this school and their CMS experience has taught them to love learning. My second grader interacts with adults gracefully and articulately because of the skills and confidence this schooling experience has given her. CMS has an excellent arts, music, and drama offering and the teachers encourage academic excellence. I would recommend CMS to any parent looking for a school that supports a curriculum that encourages independence and confidence in addition to accelerated learning.

Some of the things that made us withdraw our 3yo mid-year: Despite a stated open-door policy, parents were actively discouraged from involvement in or visiting the classroom. In March, a formal school memo forbade parents from speaking to each other at drop-off/pickup, asked parents to drop their children off at the front door instead of at the classroom door, and instructed parents not to carry their children or their children's belongings. The memo specifically suggested that any discipline problems at home were caused by not following the same rigid "expectations" as the school. When our son was afraid to use the toilet at school, the teacher forced him to sit on the toilet for 45 min while he cried in frustration. He was criticized for not doing work exactly the way the teachers wanted (e.g. sorting puzzle in the "right" order). In a parent conference, we were told our son was "too literal" because asked where rain came from, he said "From the sky," not "From clouds." He was already reading and adding at 3, but we were told this, along with his shyness, were signs of a possible psychological problem. We were bullied to take him for autism screening, even after a specialist and our pediatrician said he was likely fine. Administration, up to the head of school, either ignored problems or blamed us. When we sent a formal letter detailing our complaints, the school offered us a partial tuition refund if we signed a nondisparagement agreement. We refused. We've since learned other families had similar experiences. If you click on Yelp's "non-recommended reviews"--which are weeded out by algorithm--you'll see that other families have made similar complaints.

I will never do this fundraiser again and will recommend to other organizers as well to look for something better - good old fashioned candy bars even for $2 would be better. It is ridiculously expensive. not only are you paying $30 for 12 oz of popcorn or nuts, They then hit you with a service fee 1.74 and $9.99 in shipping which you don't see until the end. Not everyone especially elderly people want to or have the ability to do things online. I would have rather given the $40 to the school so they would get all the money. We had so many people refuse to do this fundraiser for that reason - if this is charity, why charge a service fee, really ! Then we don't even have an option to have the product delivered in one place and pick it up. Yes, it's convenient in this day and age but you are certainly paying for that connivance now without a choices. who pays $150 for popcorn ??? I'm in marketing and this product is so cheap to produce the mark up is close to 100%- again for Charity. Just disgusting and the product is not even worth that price! The nuts we got liked and tasted old. Try to support your kids another way go get your school to just take checks! I'd love up even know how much of that money the kids actually see!!! This organization should be ashamed of themselves taking advantage of family and char organizations! I was a girl scout troupe leader, a CCD teacher and a cheer Coach, I know about fundraising. This is not it. Try canning we did great at it!

Our children have…read morecompleted the preschool cycle, the three-year lower elementary cycle, and are now in upper elementary, and throughout the process, the highly qualified staff and teachers have consistently encouraged them to be independent in their learning. As someone who specializes in education, I recognize the importance of self-motivation, and LMS has exceeded our expectations in promoting this for our children. The academic breadth and depth of learning at LMS have surpassed our expectations. Although some may worry that the "freedom" in learning styles may lead to falling behind, LMS has a packed, comprehensive, and individualized curriculum that is tailored to the needs and skills of each child. Additionally, standardized testing is introduced starting in fourth grade. The independence fostered at LMS, instead of being a constraint, I trust that it will benefit our children for a lifetime. In addition to the excellent academics, LMS also hosts numerous activities throughout the year to build a sense of community, including culture fest, ice cream socials, a 5k, book clubs, volunteering opportunities, farming, and many more. The children have had very few conflicts, if any, during our time at LMS, as the staff and teachers are conscientious and work closely with parents to address concerns as soon as they arise. Overall, we have been extremely satisfied with our experience at LMS and would highly recommend it to other families.

It…read moresomehow got filtered by Google. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parents be aware I am not able to comment on the activities and services they provide since they were close for a long time and we were not able to send our infant there. I am reviewing their awkward and inefficient management and communication processes. We registered a spot for the unborn child with IC Kids in Newton, MA and paid the $75.00 registration fee and the $1,690.00 deposit for the first month tuition on January 21, 2020. The original plan was to send the child to the daycare in July or August 2020. IC Kids were shut down in March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic (like many other daycares). The center had then closed for over a year. The director we met and communicated back then also left the daycare. I was concerned about the deposit we paid and would like to know when the daycare would be reopen. I was able to find one of the co-owners, and talked to him via phone calls several times to have updates about the center's reopen plan and also discuss about a safer timing to send the child to the center. It was a global pandemic and with so many uncertainties, I sympathized the challenges the daycare had to deal with and also preferred to send my little baby there in a safer timing. With several back and forth discussions and the state's vaccine rollout plan, I later informed him that March or April 2021 would be the timing to send the child to the center. He first assured me they would be able to reopen in March and already hired a new director. However, they were still in the process of renewing the license and need to meet EEC's requirements for reopen. I contacted the new director via emails on February 17th, 2021 and also had a Zoom meeting with her on March 8th, 2021. She stated they were still in the process on renewing the license and she cannot commit if they will be open in April. One other question I brought was how many kids they will have when they reopen because I certainly didn't want my little baby to be the only kid there. She wasn't able to provide an answer to me. Due to the uncertainty of their operation status and the lack of experience of practicing COVID protocol I requested to have a refund of the registration fee of $75.00 and first month deposit of $1690.00 via an email sent on March 11, 2021. The co-owner called me the next day and put the blame on me for delaying sending the baby to the center due to Covid concern but not the fact they were not be able to reopen. He mentioned their primary investor is in China and he needed to discuss with the investor. He also needed to forward my email to the primary investor since the investor can't use Gmail in China. He manages the bank account but does not have the rights to make the decision for reimbursing the money back. I followed up again on March 24. 2021. The co-owner mentioned again it was my decision delaying to send the baby there and if we were planning to send the child to the daycare in April or May they should be reopen by then and stated again he needs to discuss about this situation with the investor. As of now, I haven't heard anything regarding this matter from them again (not to mention getting my hard earned money back). The communication and decision channel and process are confusing and awkward. The director never replied me on this issue and I had to deal with the co-owner and waited for them to discuss with someone in another country. Parents had no choice but to wait for them to reopen whereas most other daycares were reopen for a while? My baby might end up being the only child there when they reopen(how could they even allow this to happen? Let one infant being alone in an entirely new environment...). These are all extremely concerning. I need somewhere trustworthy and I can get comfortable that my child is happy and safe there. I wouldn't send my baby there even if they are reopen. 4/24/2021 Update - My personal cell phone # was shared with a "potential parent" of IC Kids. She called me and asked when I will send my child to IC Kids. She claimed she is planning to send her child there but they are still in the process of enrollment and don't have any kid there. So the owner asked her to call me to check. I was shocked when I got this call. First - my personal contact information was shared to a stranger without my permission. Second - Why was a "potential parent" contacting me instead a director or owner responding my request to return the money back She even further asked my where my child's current daycare is (of course I didn't share...God...) This is all beyond my normal understanding and I have never heard a daycare handling things like this. I now am concerned who else my personal information has been shared with and am extremely cautious about my child's safety.

Last week my child came home with a black face mask. Don't send your kids here, there are much…read morebetter options for the same price.
