From me driving back to Texas to visit her 3 hours each way while she was still able to function on her own, to her living with my son and I when the horrible disease started to progress, and all of the doctor and hospital visits. After leaving my job to stay home and take care of mom for a year, I made the decision to start looking for mom and assisted living facility. After numerous calls and visits, I found Lakewood Residential. They took her in as family, allowed me to begin working without worry, and gave her over the top care. Joan, the resident director, treated my son and I like family since 2019 as well. You will not find a better place, group of people, or better care anywhere than what the residents and the residents families get at Lakewood Residential.

They…read morebecame like family to me, and I always did everything I could to provide them with the care, dignity, and respect they deserved. During my time there, I worked hard and eventually became the Director of Housekeeping, a position I truly enjoyed and took great pride in. Unfortunately, I found it increasingly difficult to do my job because of the leadership environment. In my experience, the Director of Nursing was often rude and unpleasant toward both employees and residents. I frequently observed harsh communication and felt that empathy was lacking. I also felt concerns raised about some CNAs were not addressed appropriately, making it difficult to maintain the standards of care and accountability I believed the residents deserved. In my opinion, promoting the Director of Nursing to Administrator was not the right decision. From what I observed, employees who spoke up for themselves or advocated for residents were often treated disrespectfully, and some were later no longer employed. That created an environment where many people were afraid to raise concerns. One of the most difficult experiences for me occurred after I reported what I believed was neglect of a resident and also raised concerns about a new employee's disrespectful behavior toward me. Within two weeks, my position was eliminated. While I cannot say why that decision was made, the timing left me with serious concerns. Despite the way my employment ended, I will always be grateful for the years I spent caring for the residents. They were the reason I stayed for nearly 15 years, and they will always hold a special place in my heart. My hope is that every resident receives the compassionate, respectful care they deserve and that employees who advocate for them are supported rather than discouraged.

They won't let employees discuss their wages. It's ridiculous, I can see why eveyone quits. And the food is horrible can't cook for anything, I feel bad for those old people
