We went through a few rescues and found that they were too invasive and rude and judgmental, or they didn't know the dogs at all. Lucky puppy is neither of those things. Our application was easy but I felt asked appropriate questions about us/our history-shows they care where their dogs go. Then I was in contact with someone to go over the next steps. We visited the rescue on a Sunday-it's a dogs paradise. We ended up adopting that day after meeting a few awesome dogs. We keep in contact with our girls foster. They do so much good for the community and really set the dogs up for success. Will absolutely adopt from them on the future!

My one issue was that because we are seniors, they were concerned as to how we would provide for our dogs as time progressed. We explained that our respective wills provided for immediate family, our daughter and husband, to assume guardianship in the event of our demise or incapacitation. The- shelter tested her with cats after I left and we all made the decision Pearl would not be a good fit- she was very tense around the cat they introduced her to. The employees were SUPER patient and kind, which i appreciated because I was indecisive and nervous (but excited) about adding another cat to our household. The setup to meet cats is unusual-- you go into the room behind the cat cages and can open them one at a time to meet the animals. I thought it was a really good setup. We were asked to wash our hands in between times to avoid spreading germs. They also have reading rooms where you can sit and read to extra shy cats to help socializing them. I didn't look at dogs, but it seemed like they were working hard to take good care of them and socialize them as well. I think if we ever decide to get another animal I'd try here.

There are many cat rooms here with cats that have been neglected or left behind. There are also many dog kennels in areas that patrons do not see. You can look at dog photos on the wall to pick a dog to play with. There is an outdoor area for you to play with the dogs. My favorite cat is princess lord. She is adorable. This animal shelter accepts food, monetary, time, and toy donations. The ladies that work here are really nice. There is a thrift store across the animal shelter which donates all the money to the animal shelter. Support it! The Susquehanna Animal Shelter also brings the animals to the local colleges to help students and faculty to destress during finals week. Adopt , don't shop!

On August 12, 2026 my grand rabbit passed away. I called my daughter who's out of state at school…read moreto let her know because Miley (the rabbit) was hers. She sent me the money to get Miley cremated so she could come back home which is $60 for the cremation. My daughter sent $80 so she could get her nose print and fur clipping. I called her while there and told her that the clay paw print was a extra $30. She said okay and asked for that as well. My daughter sent me the $30 for Miley's clay paw print. I and my daughter paid a total of $110 for her rabbit to come home. We paid on card and left Miley with APF. We trusted APF to make sure our wishes were fulfilled and granted. I was called yesterday August 19, 2026 towards the end of day that Miley had been returned and was ready for pickup. I was unable to pick her up yesterday so I went and picked Miley up today. I arrived at APF around 12:10pm. I walked in and picked up her remains. I was looking thru the bag when I noticed that the paw print was not there. So I walked back in and addressed the issue. They made it feel like I was lying to them and went and checked the receipt and saw that I did pay for it but never got it. Then they said that they will talk with the people tomorrow when they come in and I told them no because it wasn't going to fix the issue it's not like they can do her paw print now as she is cremated. I told them I wanted a refund. They asked me my address and I told them that they could refund it how I paid for it. They said that they aren't able to do that which I found highly aggravating. So they are mailing me a paper check. If this happened to someone who had lost a child in birth and they never did their child's hand and foot print an the child was cremated the parents and family would be highly upset and emotional. This is the same thing. Some people view there animals as there kids and treat them as such. There are no words in which we can express our aggravation, hurt, and there is absolutely no way they can ever correct this for us either. I'm shaking writing this because this is something that we will never be able to look at again. When I look at my dog's paw prints, my cat paw print, I an my daughter will never be able to look at Miley's paw print.

Several attempts to call again met with voicemail. I tried email, but was told to call them, but then never answered. I did receive this email, but no follow up, and no phone answering. "I apologize for the delay in getting back to you - it has been very busy around our adoption center these past few weeks! I spoke with our rescue coordinator, who oversees the maintenance and feeding of our cat colonies, and she said that right now, she is in need of help trapping cats in the Warrensburg area. Would you possibly be interested in assisting her in Warrensburg? I know there is also a site in Hudson Falls that she may need help feeding, if you would prefer something closer to home. Please let me know your thoughts!" I responded to the email, saying I have a havaheart trap and asking where to meet, but no one ever contacted me again. I offered to help trap feral cats for TNR, set up shelters and feed them, or to just clean cages and offer the animals love and attention. Why don't they want people to clean up and feed and love the animals for no pay? They seem to respond, but really they don't. Don't they want people to know what they are doing? There are terrible reviews of their other location. Now you cannot even go there without an appointment. I emailed for an appointment with no response. I urge anyone reading this review to volunteer and see if they can help to care for and feed the animals and see what is actually happening there. See if you can get a response. Animal shelters do not appear to have any outside oversight, even when the public is allowed entry.

The staff and volunteers are fabulous. This is strictly a cat/kitten adoption center and there is a pre-approval process for moving forward with bringing one of these adorable kitties home. Our kitten is still pretty young; we rescued her from our shed in the fall and we thought that she should have a playmate. We went looking for a cat/kitten that was around 6-8 months old with a personality that would jive with our current little princess. We went all over the facility to meet and spend time with so many different cats and kittens. The website and facebook pages are kept somewhat up to date, so we had already seen a couple of kitties that we were interested in meeting. Once the vetting process was complete (you'll need to provide references, a copy of your drivers license and lots of other stuff...which is great), you'll be cleared to take your new family member home. I can't recommend North Shore Animal League for finding your next "best kitty" friend. Or, they're always looking for volunteers and donation items...so if you're in the Glens Falls, SGF or Saratoga area, give them a visit.
