Room 2 has delightful views to the fells & local park but overlooks the main rd running past but isn't to noisy in my opinion. Very clean & breakfast was perfect. The proprietors Paul & Diane where perfect hosts. Couldn't fault it at all. Points to note. Parking is provided in a secure compound only accessed by a locked gate which you have a key, it's just across the park about 200 metres away. Very strict on taking the local chinky take away in but can't understand why you might want to do that as there are so many places to eat not more than a 5 min walk away. Its best booked direct for the best price & not on the internet as the booking company charges an extra 10%. Well deserved 5 stars. Would certainly recommend & would return.

Rooms are spacious - I was in a twin room which had a decent sized bathroom. Shower was over the bath but separate controls - no messing about with the taps which was great. Plenty of wardrobe space, good sized room with chair and tables (plus tea and coffee) and little balcony, accessible from patio doors. Not really used in October, but it would be handy on a summer's night. As part of the wedding, we ate in Room One-o-One, the hotel's upmarket restaurant. The food was excellent, with a crab and lobster starter, guinea fowl main and panacotta pud. All dishes were cooked to perfection and packed full of flavour - surprising for a hotel restaurant as often dishes can be a bit 'meh' and over priced. The service from staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is in the main dining room - a huge selection of cereals, continential breakfast items and a full English you can help yourself to. I was pleased to find they offered gluten free bread toasted :) I was booked into the Burnside as part of the wedding but I'm currently investigating it for a return visit as I would like to explore Bowness and the Lakes further. I did notice that some people were registered as having KGB deals for £49.50 for a room and breakfast so that would be a great option. There are lovely grounds too - looking out over the Lakes and there is also a leisure centre. Sadly I did not have the chance to try the pool and the jacuzzi but other guests used the facilities so worth taking swimming gear with you. I would return to the Burnside again - lovely hotel in a great location with nice friendly staff making it a great place to spend a few days.

The Inn is quaint, charming, and comfortable and the staff are kind, welcoming and accommodating! We arrived and were immediately happy with the safe and private parking accommodations. We actually arrived very late that evening, and called ahead, they waited up for us and were so kind upon arrival. The Hotel is SO charming, cute and cozy. The aesthetic is charming English cottage, while also being updated and feeling clean. The hotel rooms themselves are more modern (though unique) to give you all of the comforts of home - my fave being the towel warmer. Our room was wonderfully clean (and I'm a stickler on cleanliness!) and the bed was so comfortable, especially after a long drive. It was such a comfortable and clean place to lay our heads for the evening. The hotel has a restaurant that I would also recommend. Breakfast was incredible - one of the first hotel breakfasts where I haven't had to douse in pepper haha. Well seasoned and well cooked, high quality ingredients. Jonathan is a wonderful chef. My husband said the hollandaise was one of the best he's ever had. I'd recommend stopping by for sure, and don't miss breakfast! As a lover of afternoon tea I'm always on the look out for somewhere that is a little bit different…read more.. but luxurious all rolled into one. As an anniversary treat my partner took me here for afternoon tea over the weekend. We also wanted to have a look at the legendary Lake House which is a mile from the hotel next to its own private lake, with private spa and grounds. We booked in at 5pm for afternoon tea .. A little later than I wanted but it's seems they just serve late afternoon. When we arrived it seems we drew upto a private residence rather than a hotel... which made it more appealing! We were seated quickly in the gorgeous lounge area (if it hadn't have been raining we would have been out on the gorgeous terrace) the whole room oozed class. The coffee table was laid out ready for us and we decided to have cold drinks to start with our savouries. Not a single member of staff went by without seeing if we were ok and needed anything.. attentive isn't the word! So we set up our tour of the lake house after we finished our afternoon tea very quickly! The savouries were frankly delicious. . Sausage and choritzo rolls, egg mayo, roast beef (cooked medium rare.. as it should be) and horseradish, smoked salmon and watercress and ham & wholegrain mustard sandwiches. .. then the most perfect part.. A pot of light, creamy salmon mousse with roasted brioche. Being a savouries person this was the best part and wish there was more ... but as it's afternoon tea we needed to leave space for the cakes. The cakes arrived beautifully presented and obviously made by a master of baking! Toffee and cream profiterole, chocolate slice with many layer of creamy mousse and chocolate ganache.. Victoria slice.. sponge, cream and jam in perfect layers, raspberry cheesecake.. perfectly light and creamy.. The scone was to die for... With all the trimmings. The choice of teas was lacking many fruit teas but only Earl Grey and English Breakfast in traditional teas.. After we finished we drove down to the lake house for a look round... it was classic, beautiful and entirely an elegant way to host a small wedding or special party. I feel this hotel is a little overlooked being just out of the tourist area... but it is a gem. I would love to hire the lake house for exclusive use with a group of friends for a weekend or new year.. All in all a special experience on a special day.. The website is excellent .. another tick!

Unfortunately cannot recommend this one…read more Had to move a chest of drawers to find a socket in my room to plug my phone in to charge. Sent back the dessert in the restaurant as it was so solid (a brownie) that when I tried to take a piece with a spoon it went flying off the plate all over my shirt. Didn't get an itemised bill until after I'd paid and was still charged for it. When I asked for a refund on it, the 'manager' told me he'd have to take all my bank details and phone number and call me tomorrow once he'd been able to arrange it. Yeah, right!!! Won't be staying here again.

Menu featured traditional English pub items, cooked nicely, everything done properly. Many local ales are poured; wine list had enough going for it to be interesting. A 'no worries' service approach from start to finish. All in all, another atmospheric, real pub to visit in the Lake District.
