I am very pleased with the leadership, the facilities, the programs (especially fine-arts/music), and especially the TEACHERS. These are professional teachers. They are dedicated, they treat my kids with respect, and they set great examples. They often show up at after-hours extracurricular-events, something they are not paid to do and do not have to do, but in doing so, help the kids feel what they are doing matters and is important. My family chose Mt. Lebanon among pretty much all Pittsburgh-area communities (via corp. relo) expressly because of the research we did on schools. We have not been disappointed. In fact, my experience so far (two years in) has exceeded my expectations.

The priests are so nice and personable and always make a point to greet the parishioners after mass, even during inclement weather. The 2 main priests are also very engaging and make mass interesting. Unlike some other Catholic Churches that I have attended through the years, they are also very welcoming to non-parishioners as well. Another thing that was different from any other church that I have attended was that when i first joined about 4 years ago, they had a welcoming cocktail and appetizer party for all new members. It was a nice chance to get to know then clergy, other fellow new members and also many current active younger adult members were in attendance too.

The track is decently maintained and has some give under your feet, which is great for your joints. The only complaint I can really think of is that the usual users of this track don't tend to observe the lane rules (runners on the inside lanes, walkers on the outside) so you occasionally are dodging people who are furiously pumping their hand weights. We'd prefer to use the Schenley Oval, but it's a little further from home and usually pretty crowded, so this track suits me just fine for what I need it for.

It was very hot, because it's kind of in a hole & the rubber radiates the heat like crazy! They're doing some major construction on the HS, so some of the entrances are blocked off, but you can get in from the back park entrance. The park next door is very nice & shaded & a good place to escape the heat.
