Esp if you have something they want; Good grades, high placement test scores, athletics, or I am sure a lot of money to donate to the school. I would not know about the last one. My son got excellent grades on his placement test and had always been a good student. However needed a lot of financial assistance to attend. We were assured "If you want Seton, Seton wants you, don't worry about the cost." That was from the recruiter, the last time I talked to her. Right after we he was accepted, we never heard from her again. We did hear from the business office and "Smart Tuition" soon enough with a big old bill though!! I almost choked as it was a heck of a lot more than I expected!! Many hidden "fees" they do not tell you about up front. At first I felt blindsighted and as thought they had not been totally honest with me. The year went on, and I felt a little better, and my son liked it there. Then his "chromebook" broke. I had purchased insurance on it, which was "guaranteed to cover" said instrument for all four years. Honestly things were very bad not through anything having to do with school, but in our personal finance issues, that the price of the insurance was difficult, but I figured it was a lot better than the cost of the computer. I knew my son was careful, but machine is a machine and things can happen. However when my son's broke I was told the insurance dropped them, and I was on my own anyway, and expected to pony up a few hundred to purchase a new computer for the school. This would be given to him to keep upon graduation. I could not afford it it first, so he went an entire year w/o one, using the library one, getting in trouble with one of the English teachers because she penalized him for not having one. He maintained good grades, but I know he would have done better with the proper materials. HIs junior year I finally got him one, and he did great, however our life circumstances recently dictated a move during the summer to another school district out of the area. I figured well, he paid for the computer, and in one more year, it is his anyway. Wrong, because he was forced through no fault of his own, and even though he had no fault in the charger not staying in the port of his first one............we were to send it back or they flat out refused to send his records. I was told I did not "purchase a computer for my son", even though he would have maintained it in another nine months, I purchased an "asset for the school". I cannot help but feel I was being penalized for leaving. I do like that the school stays away from Common Core by not even accepting federal lunch programs, even though that was quite an economic hardship as well, I bore as I ha to. However you leave and they do not get their PSAS money for you, you will pay. Dearly. They, like many so called "Catholics" and "Catholic institutions" nowdays are all about the money and/or the sports, not the people.

Of course this is only after I studied days before and was ready for the test. One teacher showed up to class 5-10 minutes late on a near daily basis. Freshman year, I had a teacher that gave us authors test on a book we did not have! Therefore, we had questions on the test that the teacher did not cover nor were they covered in our textbook. I think it is absurdly lazy to give the students authors test to begin with. The class average one particular quarter was just 64%. Pathetic! In my senior year, I had a teacher for one semester that was determined to give me a B. In the first quarter of the class I received an A with ease. The second quarter each and every paper I would turn in would come back with the most ridiculously amount of points taken off. These would not be for grammar or spelling errors but some absurd statement that I had never seen before. Toward the end the class we were told to write up a review of a movie we recently saw. She knocked off 15% for the one reason that I gave too much of the movie away. I can assure you that I did not give away even the first 15 minutes of the film. At the end of the day, I was given a B for the semester. This was not a unique example. Nearly, every paper I wrote up in the second quarter was knocked out, not for spelling or grammar issues but for nonsensical items. The teachers also massively favored females. If you all think this is an absurd notion, you wont be laughing if your son is distraught of their grades, become zoned out because they did A work on an assignment but got a B instead, or is obtaining less in a college scholarship of which you will be footing the bill for. I actually had teachers confirm to the entire class that they do in fact favor the girls. Imagine how that sounds to a boy. From kindergarten till the 6th grade I had zero male teachers. Throughout school the general viewpoint among the boys was that they were treated far inferior compared to the girls. Finally, I also had numerous teachers that gave out each student's grade to the entire class. Yeah, that's real professional. The laziness and apathy were overwhelming. I would give no stars if I could.

Bethel Park HS is no exception to this. Sept 9th is the Community day where you can meet local vendors in the area, watch a parade, and even enjoy a car cruise! Held on the high school campus I had the brief opportunity to go inside while using the rest room. Once you enter the main building you can see the cafeteria on the lower level by looking over the foyer and also see the outside beauty. The school office is located directly to the left when you come in. Everything here is state of the art. People are there to guide you with traffic patterns as well as parking. Some of the vendors I visited were ones I had previously reviewed including my own gym Healthtrax. Nearby was "Give mia cookie" located at the junction of Rt 88 and South Park Road. Boy scouts, chiropractors, churches, as well as high school vendors are there selling or promoting their own interests. I even got a glimpse of their high school band after the parade since they were marching through the vendor areas. Pasta too, which is on my bucket list, also had there own stand and many others places were you can grab a quick bite. I was told that the car cruise was running all day so part of the school entrance is blocked off but they will guide you around. Please note that there is major construction on Bethel Church Rd where it intersects Fort Couch. If you are heading from South Hills Village please consider an alternate route. It's truly wonderful to get out when the day is nice to see what the community has to offer and take part in the activities. Great family fun for all!
