I'm leaving a 3 star review because I'm willing to meet Dr. Glover "in the middle", which is all she was willing to do for me. I was ready to leave a one star review because of the experience I had that left me feeling like I was robbed by this establishment. I pay out of pocket and was told before my first visit that the price of the appointment would be $165. The appointment went well and everyone was very nice to me. Before leaving I would have given them a 5 star review. When I went to check out, however, they informed me that they had taken $108 dollars worth of x-rays. They did not tell me at any point that the x-rays were going to change the cost of the appointment. Never did they ask, "would you like us to add $100 worth of xrays to your visit today?" No heads up. No warnings. No options. Just a surprise fee at the end of my visit. Only after I was charged for the x-rays, they informed me that if I had brought my own x-rays, I would not have needed more x-rays from them. In what other business is it okay for the business owner to quote you a price, and then add on extras without informed consent? I have frequented other dentist offices in the past and have always been informed about extra costs that were not previously discussed. This was also the first time I've ever even been charged extra for x-rays. I asked for a refund and I was told it would be "impossible" because the "x-rays were already taken", as if that was my fault they took the x-rays. Instead of a refund the dentist informed me that she would "meet me in the middle" by taking half off the $108. So after much frustration and an overall sour experience I'm willing to meet Dr. Glover in the middle too, with this 3 star review. read more

Dr. Montoya is very thoughtful and kind. He is patient and his staff is as well. WE have had a few unusual occurrences between myself and my daughters and every time they respond with care, patience and understanding. My kids like going to the Dentist and this is because not only is Dr. Montoya fantastic his staff is amazing. read more

First I would like to comment on POSITIVE sides I've experienced at Dr.Montoya's office. Scheduling and timing of appointments are always flawless. No or little wait time, professional stuff, easy to get into in case of emergency. Negative. Dr.Montoya did a mercury filling without notifying me or asking for my consent. As many probably aware of, Mercury fillings are BANNED in many European countries because of the health risk they posses. It didn't even occurred to me that a dental professional can do a mercury filling without letting me know. For a week after he did the filling I was experiencing bad headaches every day. I went back to his office and all he could suggest (and did) was to polish the filling. I still wasn't aware that the filling was mercury, so allowed him to do that. I'd like to add here, that health conscious dentists have a special protocol for removing mercury fillings, it's considered a hazard procedure, and there are extra precautions for making sure toxic material is not inhaled or will get in contact with the skin. Obviously polishing mercury fillings creates plenty of toxic dust. No special precautions were in place, not even a suggestion to thoroughly rinse my mouth. I would suggest to look for a different dentist if you look beyond traditional dental practices. Good dentist if you are OK with the mainstream. read more

So disappointing... I went to get a filling replaced, pretty straightforward I thought. I was expecting these steps: 1. numb, 2.drill, 3. prime, 4. fill, 5. adjust, 6. polish, 7, quality check. What I got was: numb, drill, fill. I had to go back once for adjust and polish, as the filling was protruding and rough. But it's still not floss-able, meaning another trip in. Compared to all other dentists I've been to, his work is haphazard and rushed. He didn't do many of the steps I thought were basic or fundamental to dentistry. As a family we're definitely switching dentists. Also, there is an odd emphasis from the Dentist on needing a bite guard. Every other patient of his I've talked to has also been encouraged to get a bite guard. Must be pretty hefty profit margin?! read more

I have been using DDS Montoya for over a year now with no complaints. Yes I have had procedures done and he has explained every step and when questioned if this is the only treatment he explained others, but why he felt this was the best for me. I have left two other Los Alamos dentist because they were doing procedures that were unnecessary and the other would not use local dental businesses for crowns and other mouth cosmetics. Be careful who you go to, get references. read more

Dr. Montoya is an arrogant dentist. I have TMJ, and needed a new "tooth guard" to keep me from grinding my teeth at night. This is what Dr. Montoyas nurse told me I would get. When the new apparatus was ready, it was designed to push my lower jaw back. This was NEVER discussed with me, and NOT what I wanted. It caused neck, jaw and shoulder pain and headaches for weeks. When I told Dr. Montoya that I couldn't take the pain, and really don't want to move my jaw, he got angry. I asked him if could file down this apparatus, so that it would function as a tooth guard. He said that he would, but that after that he would be "done." He said, "I'm done" several times in an angry voice. I'll never go back to see him. I've had no pain with my new "tooth guard" since he filed it down. Why cause extra pain? Shouldn't you tell a patient about new treatments you are implementing? I DO NOT recommend Dr. Montoya. Since then, I have spoken with several people who have described Dr. Montoya as arrogant and to several families who have switched to other dentists. So, it is not only me that feels this way. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Montoya's for many years now. He has always been compassionate and completely attentive to my concerns. He has always thoroughly discussed any procedure he has recommended or performed, and I trust him implicitly with my dental health. I have gone to other dentists in Los Alamos and have found them to be incompetent and/or uncaring about their patients' pain or fear. Dr. Montoya has always responded promptly to my dental needs, and has consistently ensured my highest level of comfort. I absolutely recommend Dr. Montoya and his staff for your dental health care. read more

Dr Montoya is an excellent dentist. He has taken care of my teeth since I moved to Los Alamos. He came highly recommended by a co-worker and I have been nothing by happy with him. My wife also finds the care at his office exceptional. On a caring note, my son who is on the autism spectrum allows Dr Montoya to clean his teeth. My son was dismissed by his child dentist for biting fingers in his mouth. Something about Dr Montoya's persona/chair side manner is soothing to my son. read more

I have gone through three dentists in the 15 years I have live here and been the most pleased. His work and office staff make you feel comfortable and that;s saying something for a trip to the dentist. Also I have never been hassled or even dismissed because of a bill I did not pay that I didn't even know I owed. One dentist completely destroyed a tooth that was a simple filling on top of the tooth. Dr Montoya was able to save it. read more
