Comforting, as I had 5 roots in one tooth. This allowed them to know what they were dealing with in advance of my root canal (which is fairly important). Dr Lucier worked on my teeth and she has SUCH a gentle touch with her anesthesia needle. Every other needle I've ever had was WILDLY painful (and dreaded on my part), but she put in just a little bit, let it get numb, then put in more, (which I didn't feel as it was numb) and slowly, so it really didn't hurt (all my other dentists did it all at once and usually had my eyes tearing with pain). Seriously, SUCH a treat! I had two root canals and they were so mellow. I honestly fell asleep during them. It was that comfortable. And btw, they were ready for me on time, moved me along quickly, but without hurrying, AND had a really nice waiting room with legitimately good reading material. Gang, I can not recommend these women enough. They are fantastic on all fronts.

He's not only expanded into a new, purpose-outfitted, facility, but he's introduced some new technology and other innovations that make it scheduling and other patient services much easier. Now, for example, I get texts about upcoming appointments and add them to my calendar automatically. I'd expect those conveniences in 2016. But what's really important is that technology (in communications and patient care) never gets in the way of great dental care. Dr. Knott and his staff provide friendly, excellent, high-quality care at every level -- far and above what one might expect in small-town Vermont. Can't recommend them highly enough.

I've had cleanings since that were normal and painless. But let's talk about today. I booked an appointment for 1:30. I got sent thirty texts to remind me about this appointment. I arrived at 1:10 and was the only person in the waiting room. For the next twenty minutes I waited, alone, and nothing happened. At 2:10, after seeing multiple people arrive quickly and just as quickly be taken back to be seen, I asked Joseph at reception what was happening. He gave a, "It is what it is, sorry, not sorry" reply. Why have five people who came in twenty minutes after me been seen before me? "There's only two dentists today," was the reply. There's simply no way that all of these people had appointments before me and got here after me. Someone messed up and no one wants to take responsibility. Joseph tells me he's spoken to the dentists and I will be the NEXT PERSON SEEN. This is an important detail. Who gets seen next? Not me! Who gets seen AFTER that person? Did you guess it wasn't me? You're correct!!! After that, I just wanted a reimbursement of the $57 fluoride they pre-charged me. Guess what? They can't do that because the right person isn't there! It's a miracle! You can't give me my money back for a treatment you didn't give me! I was told to call tomorrow and I'm eagerly awaiting the conversation where they try to tell me they can't give my money back for whatever scam reason they concoct. At that point, it'll be a BBB issue. To whichever bot or uncaring representative that replies to this review with a scripted, "We're so sorry, please contact us to work it out" message, don't bother. I'll be calling and fighting with this place tomorrow. Thanks for making me take time off from work for literally nothing but wasted gas and a scam charge for a treatment you didn't use. Soooo happy I missed making money for this.

You are in for a story and please read till the end.....especially if you need a root canal!…read more Let me say that I have had 3 dental meltdowns and thought I was headed for the dreaded root canal! All three times, something intervened to save me from what I thought was the worst dental experience you could ever have any time. Then....it happened. I was in the chair with Dr.Abby Gaughan who had just examined my tooth, and I could no longer have a different outcome. It was root canal time, and it was just my luck that she could do it right then! I was caught off guard for sure. I wanted to run out and say, Later but why worry about it and stress. All that extra anxiety? No way. So I stayed and prepared for hell in my mouth! Well I cannot tell you how totally different my experience was from what I thought and what others had told me. The doctor was funny, smart and explained the process to ease my concerns. She said it would not hurt, but who would believe that. Her assisting tech was a blast, with a great sense of humor. I can't believe I was in the chair....the Dental chair, mouth jacked open, and laughing with these super professional and super funny ladies. I was not in pain. Outside of the injection at the beginning, I felt nothing. When it was over, I still was not in pain. Two weeks later, yup, no pain. I could not believe it. I know it sounds crazy, but it was not horrible. I was not in pain and for sure, I was not traumatized by having a root canal. Please, if you find yourself in need of the scary sounding term.....root canal, do yourself a kind favor and see Dr. Abby Gaughan. The office is currently Covid prepared, safe and staff are very kind. They all are warm, share a smile and want you to have a very positive experience. No one loves going to the dental office. But it's a good health practice so don't put it off. Those oral issues just get worse with the passing of time. Please tell them Claire sent you and you'll be in for a party! Trust me. With a sincere heartfelt thank you to Champlain Endodontics, Claire Astone Brandon VT Love you guys!

I trusted Dr. Taylor's choice and feel he did well. For over a year now I have gone in for my regular checkups at Dr. Reeder's office with no problems. In February, 2018 I realized I needed a hip replacement. I saw my primary care doctor, as advised, for my pre-op evaluation and was cleared for surgery. Then two weeks before I was scheduled for my hip replacement surgery I discovered a problem in my mouth. I called Dr. Reeder's office explained my concern. They got me in to the office immediately. After examining my mouth Dr. Reeder discovered I had an abscess under one of my teeth. Knowing I was going in for major surgery he set out to help me address the problem which included having a permanent bridge installed. This went forward amazingly smoothly because he has the latest technology at his fingertips and a wonderful support staff. Due to no fault of Dr. Reeder, or his support staff, the bridge didn't arrive by UPS as promised the Thursday before my scheduled surgery on Tuesday of the following week. He learned that it was at the distribution site in St. Johnsbury. The next morning, Friday, he drove over personally and picked up my permanent bridge and had me into his office at 12:00 PM calmly putting it into my mouth. I left an hour later ready for surgery and five weeks post-surgery I can happily report I have no complications from either procedure. If you are looking for a capable, caring, compassionate dentist I highly recommend Dr. Reeder. He is exceptional in the field of dentistry and cares about his patients health and well-being. I feel the same about his stellar support staff. They all work together to help make dental care go smoothly.

The staff was friendly, but what I expected to be a consultation felt more like a push toward having a root canal than a discussion of all available options. After the appointment, I decided to get a second opinion before proceeding with treatment. Two different dental offices requested my 3D CT scan from this office so they could properly evaluate my situation. Both offices told me they never received it. I paid for that scan, and I was trying to make an informed decision about a significant dental procedure. Instead, I found myself unable to get other specialists the information they needed to fully evaluate my case. Whether intentional or not, the result was the same: it made getting a second opinion far more difficult than it should have been. My advice to anyone considering treatment here: if they take imaging, ask for a copy before you leave the office. Do not assume it will be sent later if you decide to seek another opinion. Patients deserve access to their own diagnostic information and the ability to explore treatment options without obstacles. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

In August 2023 an old filling fell out. I'm 63 and hadn't had a filling in a couple of decades…read more At the appointment to replace it I explained that I'd never had any type of filling other than old-school silver. I asked them to tell me as we went along if the process would be different, using the newer materials. I received novocaine and Dr. Racz began drilling. Suddenly pain shot through and I jumped a little. I thought perhaps the novocaine wasn't working? I didn't know. I thought he would address that sudden pain, but Dr. Racz just said, "This isn't my day." I thought he was upset that I had jumped and knocked his arm. Then he filled the tooth, creating what felt like a boulder; I couldn't close the bite. I thought he'd made a terrible mistake; this never happened with silver fillings. He started to grind it down, but it was still a boulder. Then he walked out and didn't come back. The hygienist said he would grind it down. For the next half hour, first the hygienist, then the 'practice manager', ground that filling. I asked the practice manager what her dental qualifications were. She simply repeated she was the practice manager, and she could grind as long as she didn't touch the tooth itself. But she didn't succeed in restoring the bite. It was past closing time on Thursday and the practice didn't re-open until Monday. I went through a 3-day weekend with a boulder in my mouth and thinking I might not ever bite correctly again. At home I asked my sister, a former dental hygienist, about the pain, wondering if the novocaine had failed. She explained that if a dentist drills for too many seconds the tooth heats up and causes that pain, but the novocaine is still working. The dentist just needs to adjust drilling to a shorter time. She alleviated some fear around that by saying, "It happens," like it was not a big deal. No one told me that in the dental office; I was allowed to just worry about whether they know how to manage novocaine. They got me in Monday with Dr. Racz; he ground the filling until it was right, with me telling him where to grind based on my tongue's memory of the original shape of the tooth. Biting on the marking paper repeatedly didn't get us there. I learned then that a dentist is allowed to use a stronger grinding tool, so the process was much faster. I also learned for the first time that this grinding process is normal for the new material; they over-fill and then grind to the proper shape. Knowing that Thursday could have prevented a lot of inner panic but no one told me that. Finally Dr. Racz admitted he shouldn't have come in at all the previous Thursday because his dog had passed away that day. Well, that explained a lot! I expressed empathy, having been through that; we all love our dogs. Still, the lack of communication from the staff was a problem. No one explained the sudden jolt of pain, no one explained grinding the new material was normal, no one said it normally doesn't take over a half hour to restore the bite but that was because of the less powerful grinding tool than the dentist is allowed to use. No one said, "The dentist doesn't normally leave mid-filling, there was a personal emergency." When he walked out, I did not know he was not coming back. No one said anything. They just erased the charges for that filling, which told me they knew they'd messed up, but no one talked to me about it. All of this compels me to write this review and find a new dentist.

It has been some years now since I saw Main Street dental, and I really should have made this…read morereview then...I just was far too frustrated. I went to this place once and had a full examination. The reason I never went back was because of the things the doctor said to me. After going over my medical history with the doctor, we talked about my previous surgeries. I went to this dental office when I was around 23. I was just answering their question as to what surgeries I have had, and when I said I had a bilateral salpingectomy the doctor (yes DOCTOR, not assistant etc. but the DOCTOR) then scoffed at me. I then had to hear about how this dental "professional" thought my OBGYN specialists were basically crazy for doing this surgery for me. How basically they were stupid for allowing someone that young to get the surgery, despite any possible medical reason I could have needed this surgery. How I shouldn't have gotten the surgery, how they'll just give anyone any surgery they want etc. Scoffing at my doctor and I's decision and that it was wrong. Between laughs I looked at the other workers around me looking for help, and no one stopped this doctor. (I was too shy then to stand up for myself then). No one should be laughing at or making fun of a surgery a woman decides to do for their own body, but ESPECIALLY another doctor who has nothing to do with that field. The doctor had no idea why I got the surgery, what I had gone through, etc....and it didn't even matter why. No professional should be laughing at another patients personal decisions with another doctor they've had that obviously knew them for much longer than this one visit with the dental dentist. I was appalled, hurt, confused, but most of all disappointed that another human being could think this was ok, let alone a health professional. To act like any personal surgery someone has is wrong, is appalling for anyone to do, let alone another doctor. To act like any other doctor is incompetent for following through with a health plan they and the patient had been working on for YEARS is just wrong. (but they wouldn't know how many team members I had on this, years we spent, all the hoops I had to go through...because they of course didn't ask before they started making mean comments to me) To laugh at, ridicule, and treat a patient so meanly for no reason is just WRONG. I was suppose to get some fillings done at another date and canceled them all. I felt so hurt, I knew I could never go back to this office. What that meant though was, I had to go find another dentist. When you start with a new dentist, (at least in my case) you have to do a whole full examination every time, your insurance will only cover so many in a certain time frame. So it was either go back to the dental office that made fun of my body, my choices, my experiences, my capabilities, my doctors choices, my doctors capabilities, and be made fun of possibly again....or go to another dentist and have to pay out of pocket for a full examination, which I couldn't afford (and I'm still paying the bill for) but couldn't emotionally handle going back. (btw, when I went to new dentist, they told me I didn't even need all the fillings Main Street mentioned....) It took me this long to write this because that event really impacted me. I had been waiting for this surgery for over 15 years and I medically and choice wise needed it. It was going to benefit me in so many ways and just a couple months out of the surgery, I was still so happy. My excitement about my choices soon diminished, those 15 years of waiting got taken away by another health professionals hurtful comments and I became scared telling anyone else, stopped trusting every doctor etc. And every time I drive by this office I still get upset. But I decided I didn't want anyone else to go through what I did. My intent with this post is to not bash this office. My intent with this review is to make the office see this, reflect on how they treat their patients, and to work on it not happening again. There's nothing wrong in being wrong, the only thing wrong is not making it right. So I hope for this office to see this and have better training on what is okay to say to patients and what is not. To treat others with kindness and just to do better. I know that to this doctor, this conversation meant nothing and they probably don't remember it. But it still impacts me to this day. That's how impactful words can be and I just want people mindful of that, especially those in the health profession. I am a forgiving person and if that doctor ever wants to apologize I'd be more than accepting. I can help inform and teach people why its not ok to do what happened, I'd love nothing more than to be helpful. But again, we can't get better until we're told about the things we should fix. That's all I want.
