Any funeral I have attended throughout my life, I always pay attention to the people who are there working. From Brookes, Blake, the Harpers...they are the most patient, compassionate, caring, understanding group of people you could ever hope for during the most difficult moments of your life. They sound real nice, but don't let that fool you!! My Moms ashes were still at the funeral home 7…read moreweeks after she passed away. They said the delay was because they would have to drive the ashes to the cemetery in El Paso and it would be $1000 additional cost. Its very odd because, why would it take 7 weeks to realize this? Its also odd because they initially verified that mailing the ashes to the cemetery was not an issue, and easiest way to do it. And the most odd part is that I had originally offered to put in $1000 towards the services, but my offer was declined. I was treated like I had no right to have any say in the services. They only listed my sister (the one with the money, even though my $1K was rejected) as next of kin, so I was completely ignored in respect to my Mothers cremation and burial, even by the cemetery because they will only communicate with the listed next of kin. I was essentially erased from having any say in regard to anything related to my Mothers cremation and burial! My Moms caretakers, who are also family, were also completely disregarded by the funeral home. Lastly, the obituary was supposed to be in the El Paso newspaper, but now its just on their website because apparently that's $400 more. Oh, it turns out they did finally mail the ashes to the cemetery. I guess it wasn't a problem after all. I wonder what that $1K was going to be used for, and who it was going to? Very unprofessional and no consideration of the family's right to be involved. They only will cater to the person paying them. I guess its all about money in the end too!
