I filed my taxes through them this year and I only owed $98 to the state. I paid the $98 and then…read moregot charged again the following month and I looked at the receipt and it had me set up for a payment plan of $98 for the next few months even though I had paid it in full. I called the state department of revenue and they said to contact the people I filed my taxes through to get it fixed. I have tried to call them during their operating hours 6 times the past week and they said just to email them because it's no longer tax season and they wont answer their phone. No support for THEIR work after they filed for you. Goss also emailed me to send him the copy of the receipt of the payment and when they tried to charge me again and it didnt go through. When I sent him both the response I got was blatantly obvious. Their response was "This says the payment was rejected due to insufficient funds." Well duh I know how to read. Didn't look at the forwarded receipt attached to the email. Bottom line- I emailed them multiple times, got an obvious response to one, and the second response was "Just ignore the notices from the state", called them 6 times the past two weeks without a single answer until on the second email he said "BTW, the best way to get information to and from me in the tax off-season is email. I seldom answer the telephone." So do not expect any support post season if they mess anything up. Not to mention I get charged $35 every time the state tries to charge me and it doesnt go through, $25 penalty from the bank because I move money out of that account so theyre charging an account with no money in it, and if I just pay it then I am out an extra $392 that I will never get back from the state. Turbo Tax is the only place I will do my taxes from now on.

On 4 June of 2018 I received a letter from the IRS that they would seize my personal property for…read moreunpaid taxes around $1550. Knowing I had paid everything full and on time with confirmation, I immediately called Brawe's office to see what had happened. I called the IRS that day to see what the penalties were for and they said it was because they had not received my extension so I was being assessed a late fee. I called Brawe back and let them know. Called them back at the end of the day to get an update. It turns out someone in the office had neglected to send the extension or the system they used to send it somehow glitched and neglected to send the extensionn on time. They were supposed to call me back with updates on how they would fix it. I did not receive a phone call or any followup communication for a week, though I called every single day and left messages. Panicked that they were blowing me off after trying to reach them for a full week, I paid the amount and thought we could sort it out later without it accruing further interest or going to collections. Tues June 12-I finally got ahold of someone who informed me that they had all been out sick. This sounded fishy that no one was answering phones or had even bothered to update the VM to reflect they would be out of office for a week. They had me send over notices. 10 days go by no updates.... Friday June 22nd- Checked back with M to see if there were any updates. She said she would ask Keith again and get back with me, but it wouldn't be until Monday afternoon. Tues June 26th- I check in again since I have not heard anything and M says Keith has sent in an 8821 and it will take 6-8 weeks for a response from the IRS. Thur June 28th- M lets me know they need an 8821 for my spouse (weird since this was a joint return and should have been asked for at the same time as mine) Tues Sep 11th- It is now 11 weeks and I still have not received a response from the IRS so I email Brawe and ask them if there are any updates since I have not received a response. Received no response Called sometime between Sep & Oct to see if I needed to do anything or if they needed to follow up since it had been more than 6-8 weeks and was told it sometimes takes 8-10 weeks Wed Nov 14- Emailed again to see if they needed to follow up or anything since it has been 8-10 weeks since they told me they responded on my behalf. Mid January 2019- I have consulted with 2 separate CPA's about my situation and they told me I should have received correspondence from the IRS by now. I called and spoke with Keith who told me the opposite. He told me the IRS can take MONTHS to get back on these things. He told me he doesn't know why anyone in his office would have given me these time frames, though I have the emails to show they did and why would they do that without his direction? When I asked if he would follow up with the IRS for me he said he could not call them on my behalf. This is utter BS since my current accountant had literally 3 way called me with the IRS about another matter using that 8821 he had me fill out. I told him this and he said "oh yeah, the 8821, well call them and tell me what you find out" *In case you have never done this before, the IRS can have you on hold for one hour or more before you can speak to a rep. I am beyond upset at this point because I paid my hard earned money to this person to not do the job and now they are gaslighting me and telling me to take care of it. Feb 28- I receive a collections letter from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. I have never been late on a bill in my life so I panic knowing that this is also tied up with Brawe. I leave a voice message with Brawe letting them know and that I still have not received that IRS followup letter. Mar 1- Call OTC and they inform me that this late fee was assessed due to a late return and that extensions do not mean you can pay late. They were also sending late notices to the wrong address. That's right. Their office got my address transposed by one number so I received no notices. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here and own that maybe it was my mistake. HOWEVER... I called my new accountant and they told me that anytime they file an extension for a client they give them an estimate of the amount they will owe so that it can be paid on time so this does not happen. I was never given this estimate so this penalty and interest that is now in collections was never supposed to have happened in the first place.

Better than expected, faster than I hoped…read more I never thought I would be someone that hired an attorney for a simple car accident. When I was rear-ended (parked) by a young person, texting and at almost 45 mph, I was concerned, especially given how much worse I felt two days later. I also never considered the additional issues in the future given I had purchased my Escape only six weeks early. I never thought about the impact in the future when it is time to sell it. The Lawter team provided an excellent service for me, without alienating my insurance carrier (whom I still use today). Thank goodness for uninsured motorist, and a big thumbs up and thank you to Team Lawter!
