I did not wish to contest because the extortion fee was less than what I make an hr I choose to pay. Making extortion payments turns out to be very easy! You walk to the furthers window on the right and ring a bell for service. The same kind your first grade teacher had on her deak. This was my chance! I hammer fisted that bell! It rang threw the whole lobby, I felt really accomplished. Payment was taken fast and easy. There wast even a wait, it took longer to process from visa then the service which was really amazing for a government building as we all know when it comes to the government, ITT = It Takes Time. So I guess I'm saying thanks for the quick extortion and getting me back to my bitter life style quickly.

In front of the church is a marker that is part of the Florida Historical Marker Program, one of the Division of Historical Resources' most popular and valued public history programs. The markers raise awareness of Florida's cultural history while enhancing the enjoyment of historic sites for residents and tourists. The blue historic markers tell the stories of the people and places that were important to Florida's history and they can be found in front of schools, forts, roads, archaeological sites, battlefields, cemeteries, historic buildings, and churches like this one. Historic marker F-1037 was installed in 2018 by Brevard County Historical Commission, Brevard County Tourism Development Council, and the Florida Department of State. This church is a Florida Heritage Site. The first Roman Catholic Church in Brevard County, Florida, was St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Palm Bay, dedicated in 1914. One hundred Catholic families of Germanic and Slavonic heritage from the Midwest, settled in the area previously known as Tillman, Florida, around 1912. They were drawn to this area by the North Dakota-based Florida Indian River Catholic Colony corporation which advertised to them that they were starting a Catholic community in central Florida. In the beginning, the congregation was administered to by traveling clergy. When the corporation failed on its promise to build a church, the pioneers took it upon themselves to build the church on their own. The church was dedicated in 1914 by Bishop Michael J. Curley. In 1923, a rectory was built and the church's first resident priest arrived in 1924. For many years the church ministered to families who traveled here by wagon and boats from Melbourne and Eau Gallie. On December 3, 1987 the church was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This church is now surrounded by St. Joseph's Cemetery and continues to be used for special services.

Especially the people sitting at the side desk. Theres always a bunch of boomers taking up the table by themself. There's one old guy occupying a whole table just to charge his damn phone. The clean up guy is a CREEP, occupying the women's bathroom for most of the day. This is the closest library by me or else I wouldn't need to come here to deal with these idiots.

As you enter the libray you see a giant sculputure of dolphins. Besides the great selection of items to check out the only caveat of this library is the grounds it is on could be nicer. Besides that the items here are top notch from new books to vegan cookbooks to travel books along w/ many other things. Happy browsing!

I like this library. They have news papers I see people reading. I even learned something new here…read more I ordered the Jim Crow book online for pick up. But something said just go find the book myself since I was already there. So I went to the front desk and asked the nice lady about how I can find the book. The experience was weird. It was like she didn't want me to find it myself so I just told her I will figure it out. She walked around the desk and just followed behind me. She explained how I was able to find the book once we made it to the section. The service here varies. I truly wanted to figure it out on my own or just shown how to so I could do the rest. One time I was talking to a lady about her kids reading allot of books I was just amazed. And one librarian just interrupted our conversation as if she didn't want us to just talk. I think I was reading about ww1 or ww2 at the time. I do hope it gets better.

The blue historic markers tell the stories of the people and places that were important to Florida's history and they can be found in front of schools, forts, roads, archaeological sites, battlefields, cemeteries, churches, and historic buildings like this one. Historic marker F-750 was installed in 2012 by Commodore John Barry Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Florida Department of State. This house is a Florida Heritage Site. Funds for this marker were raised by the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter who sold U.S. flags to earn money. According to the marker this house was one of the first in Melbourne Beach. The Florida-Vernacular style house was built in 1890 of native pine and cypress for Jacob Fox by Captain Rufus W. Beaujean. Both men were original investors in the Melbourne Beach Company, later named the Melbourne Beach Improvement Company. Building supplies for the house were brought to Melbourne Beach on the boat Frost Line. Their was no electricity, and water was from an artesian well. Jacob Fox and his family used the home as a vacation retreat where they hunted, fished, and socialized. Garrett E. Ryckman, a major shareholder in the Melbourne Beach Company, purchased the house in 1908. The Ryckmans family moved to Melbourne Beach in 1908 with their daughter Ruth joining them in 1910. Ruth Ryckman was well known in the community as a private nurse for many years. She left one final gift to the town in 1979, the house upon her passing. In 2012 the Ryckman house was restored. Today the home sits in Ryckman park which also contains the Town Hall, the Melbourne Beach Community Center which was the Women's Club, a playground, several gazebos and the Melbourne Beach Pier. Periodically the Ryckman House Historical Preservation and Awareness Board will open the home for free tours. Even if it is closed you can peek into the window and get a glimpse into the past.
