The City is run by an egotistical Mayor with a mediocre career in the military and flaunts it like he was a 5 star general. He and the other City Council members(minus Mr Johnson) vote according to the developers lining their pockets the most while seemingly forgetting who they represent, the taxpayers. They have a real spending problem and they don't spend the money on infrastructure. They convinced their constituents that a 5 year road bond costing millions of dollars would be completed under budget and on time and almost 10 years later the roads are worse than ever and the road bond quietly slipped away while we got stuck with the bill. There was actually a book about the malfeasance written about the City, 30 years ago called the "Good Ole Boys" and th corruption that was happening then is still happening today even though we fought to get a better City Council the nonsense continues. We even have a notorious member of the council Chandler Langevin who has made National headlines for his racists, bigoted remarks and white supremacy platform. It is disgusting that this City cannot get more than 12 percent of the population to actually get out and vote to ensure a bright future for our children. We need solid leadership and infrastructure without constantly raising taxes to pay outrageous CITY SALARIES for not doing anything!! This is my home. I am not leaving but I will continue to speak out until the corruption in this City is replaced with competence, integrity and equality for all.

I walked up to the window and told the clerk (Tammy) that I had already put postage on these 2 envelopes, but decided I wanted to send them Certified. She said fine as if she understood & saw the stamps I had already put on the envelopes. She proceeded to process them and even though I assumed she knew what she was doing, I did repeat to her that I had already attached the postage. She repeated she knew that, but put large $5.26 postage stickers over the top of the stamps I had already put on both of the envelopes. (Assuming she knew what she was doing, I didn't question the $5.26 on the sticker) She stamped my certified receipts with yesterday's date & had to change the date and restamp them with today's date. I answered her questions & confirmed there was nothing hazardous in the envelopes. She then proceeded to give me a total charge of $10.52 - - I repeated to her that I already paid for postage by putting the stamps on, so why was I having to pay for the postage again? She then proceeded to rudely tell me that I did not have to yell at her, (which I wasn't doing), and told me she has been there since 5 AM. I told her I had also been up since 3 AM and had been through a lot already today and so I didn't need to repay for the postage. She then complained that it was the computer that made the error... (However, we all know that she failed to enter that there was postage already attached.) She then had to remove the 2 old $5.26 postage stickers - which ripped the stamps & the envelopes! She had to tape the one envelope twice & then put the new $4.00 postage stickers on both. My new total was $8.00 - which I paid for & left. All the work I put into the paperwork enclosed in both of those envelopes & the work I put into addressing the envelopes & she made both envelopes look like crap! Why is the price of Postage going up but the IQ levels of the clerks going down? Why are we accepting less performance & paying more???

Additionally....I wish they would spend the money to get patrons access to KANOPY, the free streaming service with top notch indie and foreign films. They offer HOOPLA, which pales in comparison. Still, an absolutely lovely facility and I'm so pleased to live right by it.

The marker is part of the Florida Historical Marker Program, one of the Division of Historical Resources' most popular and valued public history programs. The markers raise awareness of Florida's cultural history while enhancing the enjoyment of historic sites for residents and tourists. The blue historic markers tell the stories of the people and places that were important to Florida's history and they can be found in front of schools, forts, roads, archaeological sites, battlefields, cemeteries, churches, and historic buildings that once existed like this one. Historic Marker F-730 was installed in 2011 by the Brevard County Tourist Development Council and the Florida Department of State. In 1923 the Indialantic Casino was built on the site of what is now the southeast corner of James A. Nance Park. The casino was a two-story Mediterranean Revival style building designed by architect William Christen and developed by Herbert Earle. The casino opened on December 22, 1923, and although called a casino there was no gambling involved. Instead the building had shops, an Olympic-size saltwater pool, a landmark concrete diving tower, and wading pools. It became the center of social activity in Melbourne and hosted club meetings, socials, and galas, wedding receptions, banquets, and cotillions. Special events included a Midnight New Year's Eve dinner, a Fourth of July Celebration, and the Miss Melbourne and Miss Florida Beauty Pageants of 1925. Weekly rates in 1924 for room and board of an ocean view room was $20 for singles and $35 for doubles. During WWII the casino's pool was used to train military personnel from the Banana River Naval Station. The casino was renovated in 1942. In 1944 Karl Abbott purchased it changed the name to the Bahama Beach Club. The casino then became a private club from 1949 until it was purchased by the Town of Indialantic in 1967. Following storm damage, the building was torn down in 1970 by the Indialantic Fire Department.

Today I just went to drop off my voting ballot…read more They were listed as a place for early voting and ballot drop off. Although the early voting has ceased, you can still drop off your mail-in ballot. With all the strange things that has happened with the ballots... burning, thrown in the woods and falling off the truck, I prefer to bring it in person than send it in the mail. They had signs outside to make it very easy to find the right entrance. And a kind gentleman was waiting as soon as I stepped inside with a sticker and opened the mail slot for me. Today I visited this DMV office for my scheduled appointment to complete my driver license process…read more I provided all required immigration documents, including my passport, I-94, my approved EAD notice (C09), and an official letter from the Social Security Administration confirming they cannot issue my Social Security Number at this time. Unfortunately, the staff member did not understand or accept the SSA letter, even though Florida DMV's own rules state that if a person does not have an SSN, the DMV must accept a letter from SSA confirming this. Instead of processing my case or verifying my status through SAVE, I was told that they "could not make it work," without offering a real solution. This caused unnecessary stress and delay, even though I followed all legal requirements and came prepared with every document needed. I hope this office provides additional training on handling immigrant cases and SSA letters so future customers do not experience the same issue.
