The dental care and services provided at this dental practice is top of care! I came to Dr. Rush with old dental work that needed much revisions, due to a change in technology. Dr. Rush took the time to explain what was needed, along with educating me on the dental techniques used in the past and why those dental techniques were in need of updating by way of better outcomes and applications. The support staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating, they provide you with wake up calls and reminder messages. I have been in total amazement of what exceptional dentistry service looks like. I would leave 0 stars if I could. AVOID THIS PRACTICE, because they are anything but professional. Don't be misled by all the great reviews. Not sure who they're paying to leave great reviews or maybe their demographic consists of primarily affluent people who are privileged enough to not have to fret over finances like my family. First, I was misled into believing that my insurance would cover and I got hit with a $1000 bill for a CLEANING and literally TWO fillings. They failed to inform me that they're considered OUT OF NETWORK for every patient. I've lived in like 5 different states, including California and my uninsured husband never had to pay that much and he got a root canal. Disgusting. Second, I rarely get cavities and had about 1 cavity in my life and never experienced the degree of PAIN that I did with dr. Esmail. Administering anesthesia in a minimal/painless manner is not one of his strong suits. In regards to my post procedure experience, the filling has been extremely uncomfortable and at times painful, so I'm guessing it was too high and my bite wasn't aligned properly. If I'm spending hundreds of dollars on a filling, I would at least want it to be pain-free and seamlessly done. Wow. Wow. Wow. No ouch! Painless, painless, painless! This is not your grandfather's dentist, it's not like "Marathon Man" with Dustin Hoffman in the chair and Sir Laurence Olivier as the dentist saying "....is it safe? ....is it safe?" Would you believe me that I had absolutely no pain on a cavity fill and a tooth pull! I noticed my body tightening, my heart rate increasing and my blood pressure going up or down (I don't know which way). But that's because I was expecting PAIN! It was all psychological! The only thing you have to fear is the memory of pain in the past! The staff is great! Friendly and competent. Excellent follow up on patient condition. Competitive pricing in an easy to reach location with plenty of parking. And the music! Ahhhh, la musica, la musica! 1950's and 60's to take us old foagies back! The technology has really zoomed in the past few years. X-rays done with portable hand held unit and real time pictures of each tooth and the problems they have. Everything is explained in a clear, concise and logical manner. Can't wait for my next phase in 2 weeks (my teeth are a mess). Is it possible to have a good experience at the... DENTIST?!? Totally. The front desk was friendly, the hygienist was gentle, and efficient (the quicker, the better!) The dentist was soft spoken, empathetic w/regards to anxiety, and very helpful with pain mitigation. But the best part? I received a hand-written follow-up letter in the mail from her asking how my tooth was feeling after the procedure!!! No. Kidding. Dr. Rush has been my dentist for many years until I moved to the Bay Area in California. After 2 years there and going to a dentist in California and not having a great experience, I came all the way back to Dr. Rush so that she can take care of me. Crystal was great who emailed me back and forth so that we can coordinate my visit to the area. Dr Rush has the highest level of expertise and is such a caring dentist. She even spoke to my (former) dentist in California to get all the history prior to my appointment with her. She is wonderful in every way! read more

Dr. Rush is an excellent dentist. I am a high school student who is a wimp when it comes to needles, so having to get 4 cavities filled was not fun. She was very pleasant while drilling my teeth, always making sure that i was comfortable, and even had her assistant hold my hand during the drilling. Dr. Rush was nice enough to give me the cheek retractor since my mouth was getting tired due to the amount of tools and hands involved. I have been back for cleanings since I had the work done, and will be in again soon to see the dentist for more fillings since she discovered multiple cavities last visit, along with an extraction. read more

An assistant seats you in an exam room and Dr. Rush or Dr. Esmail come in and kindly and professionally address your concerns, questions, and go over the procedures to take place. You are asked frequently how you are doing during your time "in the chair". You get a follow-up phone call the next day to make sure you are happy with the outcome. They do Facebook posts and monthly contests and have a great referral incentive program. . . that's how I got here. Within the past six months, I have run Drs.Rush and Esmail and their staff through the gamut. I have had an emergency consult, a referral to an endodontist for root canals, a treatment plan established, a CareCredit payment plan set up, cavities filled, changed dental insurance coverage twice, restorative work on root canals completed, old amalgam fillings replaced, a dental cleaning, tooth sensitivities addressed, x-rays, photos, and an orthodontic evaluation! But never once did I feel as though I was being treated by any one individually, meaning, they work as a team and all knew what was going on all the time, so there was no confusion when I walked in as to why I was being seen. It would have been understandable to have been given a standard, run-of-the-mill greeting or to have been asked, "so what are you coming in for today?" but that never happened because the office runs like a singular-minded machine. You are there, your business there is their priority, and you leave feeling like it was truly their pleasure to meet your needs. Loss of one star because for some people, the proactive, forward-moving nature of the office can be perceived as pushy or over-the-top, but it is simply a no-nonsense, thoroughly business-minded attitude that is preferred to an office where appointments migh be handled sloppily or personnel are gossipy, on their phones or disgruntled with their jobs (like most other places). EVERYONE might not LOVE it, so I am rating MDP with 4.5 of 5 stars. Dr. E is the best! I started going to him during a tooth crisis and he got me in right away, even though I wasn't one of his regular patients. He was caring and honest and got me on the path to tooth success. What I found most impressive was that he called me at home after hours to check on me and my sick tooth to make sure things were feeling better. I have never had that experience with any doctor or dentist. Since then, each appointment has been thorough, professional and pleasant from all staff members. Even calling the day of asking you to come in at a different time. And then asking "why?" When you tell them no. The scheduler who is extremely rude and pushy constantly calls you to see if you can come in on a different day and time and when you tell her no she says "you can't leave work a little early" extremely unprofessional!!!!! With regard to Tina's review of 10/14/14 - you are absolutely correct. Disclaimer: I have recently been "dismissed" as a patient for missing an appointment. I was also told that the thousands of dollars of dental work done by them would "fail" if i didn't proceed with work done by one of their specialists. I tried to explain that I was not yet in a financial position to undertake the next phase of work (implant surgery) but they just don't get it. Dr Esmail is a nice man, and a good dentist - but fees are very high, and he does not consider the cost to the patient. He always recommends the highest priced treatment initially and only provides other less costly alternatives when the initial treatment is refused. I also feel as if there is a bait and switch mentality in the office. Recently, Dr E quoted me a cost for a procedure which factored in the insurance reimbursement. I made the decision to proceed with the procedure based upon the information that Dr E gave to me. However, when the insurance was not accepted, I was left with an additional $900 bill - while Dr E took no responsibility. Had I known the total cost, I would not have proceeded, or more likely, waited 1-2 months until my benefits had reset for the year. Dr E did not care - nor did they take any responsibility for providing incorrect information. You cannot trust the office with their finances. read more

Experience with Dr. was good. However, I had a very disappointing experience with the office staff (specifically office manager) which completely ruined any positive experience. Dental claim was incorrectly submitted to insurance company SIX times. Went in for 2 routine fillings, my insurance is BCBSNJ "gold plan", I ended up with an over $600 bill! My husband and children have never paid a penny over deductible with same insurance. If the type of filling they were using was not covered by my insurance they should have offered a alternative... office staff was rude and not at all helpful. I mailed in my check along with a personal letter to the dentist explaining my concerns. The check was cashed within 24 hours, however no response to my letter. Very poor customer service. read more

only writing this because their office sent me what i assume was a mass email asking to be reviewed even though I haven't been a patient there in over 3 years. i feel this office is very focused on marketing and probably should focus more on they're office management. it was always difficult to get an appointment and there were about 3 different office managers there in the year or so I went to them. the were aggressive in wanting to treat or "seal" teeth when I had already maxed out my dental insurance for the year when I could have probably waited a month or so for my insurance to reset. anyway, they asked for my feedback so there it is.
