Definitely would do it again- see you next winter!

Fantastic location! We had 10 people attend for a work offsite. Stayed in two large cabins and…read morerented snowmobiles from them as well. Mid- February. Restaurant is closed Tuesday and Wednesday (the food and drink choice is AMAZING). Brewery is open for breakfast 7-10 everyday and lunch/dinner everyday. (Their dark oat stout is amazing.). Plenty of linens provided. Plenty of dishes and baking utensils. Very responsive in phone for emails. Plenty of good trails right off the camp. About 1.5 hours from BGR airport. Little bit of non-paved roads but it's not extreme. The suv was needed in winter. One of the cabins had a gas grill which is great but our other one didn't. I wish they had a bonfire area but it was REALLY cold. -10 at night. It would be nice if they salted some of the walking areas but we had snow boots so all good. Rentals were easy!!! Rented snow mobiles and full gear with heated helmet visor. Totally worth it. We had our own local guide with us so I can't comment on those services. Will stay again!

What a fantastic place! I had the pleasure of accompanying my sons Junior Class outing to this…read moreresort and was impressed on many levels with this establishment. In first approach the roads were jagged and exhausted from the long winter. Being mud season this needs to be over looked but needs to be mentioned. The main lodge/restaurant is beautiful and spacious with front desk access as well as hostess stand to guide you to your table which looks out to Mt. Katahdin. Staff is in a word. AMAZING! Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. When I had a health issue arise unexpectedly, Shorey, an employee in the restaurant went above and beyond to help resolve my ailment. She was successful in helping me get the help I needed. Our group took up most, if not all of the sleeping cabins. The group of chaperones I was with stayed in the "Loon" cabin. This cabin is nicer then the house I live in! All the comfort of home plus radiant heat floors, concrete counter tops, full kitchen, and fireplace! Plenty of sleeping arrangements with three bedrooms with queen sized beds and one room had an additional twin bed. In sun room there was a bed as well. Ethan Allen furniture through out. At the River Driver restaurant we had breakfast and dinner nightly and there were no repeats in offerings and EVERYTHING was delicious! Compliments to the chef for the variety offered as well as offering Vegan and Gluten Free options. 120+ is not easy to handle and the staff did n excellent job of keeping things clean and neat.

The oxymoronic Trout Mountain exists, and it's magical!…read more We stayed two nights at this, a premium cabin aground the Twin Pine campground, for an Independence Day wedding. Granted, I can't speak to the plethora of available fun things, like volleyball, horseshoes, a rec center with ping pong, board games and screen doors, and all the kayaking Millinocket Lake has to offer, basically because a hurricane was blowing it all away. Check-in for the temporarily residential side of the New England Outdoor Center is sparkling, as its recently renovated to feature what we'd discover to be a damn fine in-house restaurant. Staff are an orchard of peaches for fruit-based metaphor, or a patch of blueberries if its more regionally appropriate, and while everything seems to be pencil and paper, they were organized. Back to Trout Mountain! With a full kitchen, proximity to all facilities and more beds than the Bunny Ranch, it's essentially a palace at the end of the AT. As such, it's only fitting it sleeps 14 (or 24 college kids, because stop playin'). The only rub - even when you roll deep, you're still looking at anywhere from $70-100 per glamper per night, and three of the beds are in a shared loft. Singles pad, anyone? The wifi is extremely spotty - tough luck keeping a signal to check email, let alone stream reruns of Big Brother on Hulu. Dog friendly, too, so bring ya pup, bring ya wife. Leave your iPhone. Breathe fresh air.

And "I don't think you can get there from here" was heard by another. There's no quick way to Leen's Lodge. Ok, there is a floatplane that gets you there quickly from Bangor. But you have to get yourself to Bangor, first. Driving it's two hours from the airport. But it is worth every bit of effort to get there. Leen's Lodge is a gem on the edge pristine clear waters of West Grand Lake in the heart of the northern Maine wilderness. The lodging is rustic - it is cabins on the lake. But they are clean, quaint, and comfortable. The service and food are top-notch. The proprietors, Scott and Kris Weeks, and family, along with a few extra staff provide an experience you won't ever forget. Dinner - 5 stars. The first night I had the most amazing, perfectly seasoned, tender lamb chops with freshly baked homemade bread, wild rice, asparagus, and dessert was local blueberry pie. Other entrees included maple glazed salmon, filet mignon, and fresh Maine lobster. Breakfast - You cannot beat it. Blueberry pancakes with local maple syrup and thickly sliced bacon. My morning order "Wendy, make whatever looks good today." I was never disappointed. But you are not just coming here for the food. It's an epic outdoor experience - the quality of hunting and fishing is among the best in the world. We fished and caught as many big perch as we wanted, plenty of smallmouth bass, and even some land-locked salmon. (I won't mention that my fishing buddy hooked an eel - that did not get in the boat.) All of this with epic views while bald eagles and osprey soar overhead. The fishing guides are amazing and make the experience suitable for anyone - whether you are an accomplished angler or you've never even baited a hook, you'll find what you're looking for here. I understand the hunting is even better. When you're there, don't forget to look up at the night sky. I don't think I have ever seen the stars so bright. I am counting the days until I can return to Leen's Lodge.
