This is a great hike to explore the many waterfalls. It is a 9 mile hike but well worth it.. Now more about wilson pond camps. Angie and her family are so gracious and accommodating. True Maine hospitality. They are the new owners, and they are doing it right. The cabins are simple and very clean. With all the nesessities for cooking, and a HOT shower. Also the screened in porch is overlooking the pond.. Stunning. They are located on the pond with a private deck for relaxing, reading, swimming. You can rent a canoe or kayak and paddle away. Its very quiet and serene. You might even come across some loons.

That's honestly the beauty of it. It's run by a family of siblings and their nephew and they are all extremely hardworking and friendly folks. Let me preface by saying it's a smallish campground that offers plugs for RV's to set up shop as well as a handful of one floor ranch-style cabins that contain the bare minimum. Not to say that's a bad thing-- besides, the point of a camp getaway is to feel unplugged and enjoy the experience/nature around! The RV's are set up pretty close next to eachother and as for the week of the 4th, there's a lot of families in soccer chairs/grilling/playing games and such all day outside. Across the board: - Extremely warm and inviting hospitality from Susan (one of the main kitchen workers who also runs this place) and her family - Solid view and access to Sebec Lake - Communal basketball court, cornhole, and bathrooms in the center of the marina but all of these are up on a semi slanted hill and in a patchy and rocky area of grass. But that adds to the fun-- bringing you back to old school days. Nothing glamorous but definitely could be worse - There's a hill you can walk down to see the dock and while doing so you'll pass a dirt volleyball court tucked away - There's a restaurant to order lunch and dinner, as well as a little office that serves as the check-in place and mini gift shop of trinkets if you will The restaurant: - The food is decent. Nothing fancy but also a good option if you don't feel like running to the store. There's really no other "takeout" food options nearby so it's either you cook your own food at your place along Sebec Lake or you go by the marina for food (whether you're staying here or not) - There was 20 of us (yes 20) and Susan was so friendly and ON TOP OF IT with our food and drink orders. The food was definitely better than we expected and it came out in a reasonable time, especially given there was 20 of us eating at once (although I'd suggest you call ahead for something like pizzas since those take more time here) - See menu photos for pricing. It can be pricey but again, there's nothing else really around (i.e. we ordered a fisherman's platter and it was $45) - Plenty of tables and chairs to comfortably eat and hangout - Solid selection of drinks and alcoholic beverages for sale in their fridge - Overall it's very open and has lots of natural light in the restaurant Our cabin stay (which might not be the case for all the other cabins but it could be): - It's definitely got everything you need to get by - Shower, toilet, sink, mirror, and towels provided. Although, the bathroom has no vent so you either have to leave the bathroom door open or open the window to air it out which wasn't too effective from a timing perspective but it did the job for us! - 3 bedrooms supplied with a full sized bed, a dresser, nightstand, and lamp - there is no A/C and it was 90° almost every day this week so it felt like a sauna but particularly at night it was really hot trying to sleep so be sure to bring multiple fans!! - Kitchen utensils, plates, glass cups, fridge, sink, old school TV, couches, dining table provided as well All in all it's a campsite that has a lot going for it in Sebec, for a cheap cost if you're looking to experience a getaway/go camping in an authentic fashion. :)

I visited Phil's, for the first time, in May. Stayed for a couple days to do a check out hike for…read moremy upcoming trip through the 100MW. On that trip I was the only guest. Phil gave me a tour of his place and provided some valuable tips. Coffee was ready in the morning - I appreciated the company (from both Phil and Woody). Used the grill that evening and spent time reading in the "community center". I felt totally at home and had a chance to destress from life. My sister and I returned at the end of June for our hike. Cabin was ready when we arrived. Phil was as engaging as ever. He dropped us at Abol Bridge in the morning. Unfortunately my sister fell and tore her ACL on the hike. Phil provided instructions for how to get her out and even, personally hiked in to look for us. After she got off trail, he helped me plan a two day solo hike. Really awesome place! I now think of Phil as a friend. I'd highly recommend.

The food drop was essential so we didn't have to carry 8 days worth of food. I can't thank him enough for making us feel so safe and secure. He sat down with us and went over our maps and made sure we didn't have any questions. He dropped us off at the trailhead. When we finished a day early he made sure we got picked up and we didn't have to wait long. His rates are very reasonable and he really went above and beyond for us. His cabins were so clean and comfortable. The shower was clean and had hot water. There is hardly any cell service in the 100 mile wilderness so using my Inreach was critical to staying in touch with him when we finished. He was also nice enough to text my husband with an update when my device wasn't working well. When we finished he offered us both use his personal phone to call our families which was a really nice gesture. I highly recommend Phil Pepin and his services. This stretch if trail is very remote and difficult. He knows the ins and outs of the area and that was very comforting to us!! Thanks Phil!!!!

So much so that we got a knock on our camper door only minutes past quiet hours started telling us to turn the movie we were watching down. We visited Bissell Brothers Three Rivers both days we camped, which is sadly not something we'll ever be able to do again. It was about 20 minutes up the road. We also ate at the Quarry in Monson during our stay. Very very windy roads, be careful of wildlife at night.

There…read morewas 7 of us, most came up in my fathers 35' RV, we chose the wilderness campsite so we could rage at all hours and not be disturbed by people looking for peace and quiet, great decision! The Wilderness site is about a qtr mile from the main campground and Lodge, which was fine because we would all pile into my buddys pickup and go back and forth. The site was basically a huge field with multiple sites laid right next to the Kennebec River so it was BEAUTIFUL! Def. bring mosquito and bug deterrent (obviously) Not once did any staff member come to check on us which we loved (nothings worse than feeling monitored) RV site had electric hookups which was great for my father so he could relax away from us party animals. The lodge is fantastic, corn hole tournaments, awesome bar with GREAT craft beer! They brew their own beer at the lodge downstairs, it is very delicious. We dined at the lodge our first night after 7+ hours of driving we didn't feel like cooking. Food was A+!!!!! The rafting was very cool, we were a rowdy group to say the least, the guide was very chill and laid back as we wrestled inside the raft trying to throw each other out of the raft even in the middle of rapids (which one of my groomsmen succeeded in doing so with me, it was a rush!) Hitting each other with our paddles, the guide couldn't have been better. Older guides would have screamed at us several times, def. made the experience very memorable letting us bicker amongst ourselves and have fun! It's a total hipster ran place which makes it totally chill, we are by no means hipsters but being around hipsters is never a bad time. Everyone who worked there was cool and relaxed. Not a single complaint! Shower house was clean and water was hot. Def bring gear and supplies, if you run out you're screwed, its about 45 minutes to the closest market of any kind. You're cell phone WILL NOT WORK here!!!!! The wifi in the Lodge is REALLY strong so you can make calls in the lodge once connected, don't expect to be on your Facebook if you're camping, you will be disappointed. Awesome campground! We are doing the Penobscot next year and hopefuly we find a campground as solid as this for that trip (Northern's campground at Penobscot doesn't have electric RV hookups so we can't stay there unfortunately but will use them for the rafting for sure!) We all went to breakfast at their restaurant. Delicious & huge portions. Reasonably priced as well. There's a large hot tub, game room, swimming pool & pool table. Nice cozy couches in this area as well. The staff were some of the nicest people I have ever met. This is an all season place. It is definitely worth the trip!
