This was our first time dining here, but I was so impressed, that it certainly won't be my last. Unlike most sushi restaurants, the first thing I noticed was that the sushi is not "jumbo" sized, but properly bite-sized. The presentation of their platters is artistic and they have some beautiful creations that I've never encountered elsewhere. The service is professional, but not overly fawning. The décor is tasteful and classically charming. Their prices are very, very reasonable for the quality of their food creations. I would say that Sushi Yoshi is one of the top 2 or 3 sushi restaurants in the Northeast of Brazil, so it goes without saying that I highly recommend this restaurant.

The upstairs dining room is larger, but I ate downstairs so I could watch the sushi chefs (which is part of the fun for me of eating sushi). The sushi we had was not only beautifully served (see the photos), but very fresh and delicious. I also had a cooked dish of swordfish ("meca" in Portuguese), and while it was attractive, the fish was so overcooked that it was dry and tough, despite the fact that I asked the server to make sure the fish was on the underdone side. If not for this plate, I would've given the restaurant a better score. This isn't the best Japanese restaurant in Recife, but it's still pretty good--just stick with the sushi.

But watch out if the restaurant is really what you are…read morelooking for: 1 - It costs between R$ (32 - 36) per person and you can eat all sushi you want. 2 - Drinks, and special orders (such as sashimy) is paid aside. 3 - On the weekends you usually have to wait almost one hour to get a table. 4 - When the restaurant is really crowded, sometimes the orders might take a while and it is hard to change table. Quina is so far the best Japanese restaurant that I've eaten in here in Brazil. It is part of Associação dos Restaurantes da Boa Lembrança, which is a society of restaurants that emphasizes excellence in food and service; in addition, each of these restaurants features an entrée, that when purchased, you received a unique plate as a souvenir.
