There were several in town on this main drag. Our research had indicated that Big River Antiques was the place to visit if you want to shop for a diverse selection of antiques. The shop is run by some semi-retired hippies that are some great long time pickers. They have a good eye and bring a good mix of antiques into the shop. Word has it that even Mike Wolfe pops in there to buy when he's in town; We found the shop packed to the brim - floor to ceiling with antique treasures of all types packed and stacked everywhere. The shelves in the main room were packed so tight that it made it challenging to pull something out from the back of the shelf without creating a collectible avalanche. The lower shelves are deep and dark and I should have brought my pickin' light so I could see all the way into the back of the dark deep shelves. There are plenty of old metal advertising signs available in the shop. Lots of of old stoneware, some art pottery, salt and pepper shakers, glassware, jewelry, old oil paintings, prints, frames, lamps, tins, primitives and everything in between. It was a fun shop with so much antique eye candy everywhere that it took lots of time and patience to see it all. The smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies was refreshing as we shopped and they were indeed delicious. We enjoyed our visit to this shop and Le Claire, IA and will explore it again if we make it back into town. Definitely stop into the Buffalo Bill Cody museum while you are in town which is nearby. it was an interesting museum filled with much history and antiques.

This is not a thrift or vintage shop where you rummage around to find overlooked scores. Nothing is overlooked. The owner isn't unsure of what she has. "The score" is what Laura will help unearth for you that you didn't know was there. Don't want that experience? Go to Goodwill Trash Can Annie's supplies much of its inventory to films, celebrities, musicians, performers. Laura Heath is a professional costumer and stylist. She doesn't just own some shop with "second-hand clothes". We are very, very lucky to have access to her inventory, have her style us, and buy the outfit. This doesn't really exist anywhere else around here, or even in Los Angeles, folks. I have been shopping at Trash Can Annie's since 1984 or 85, long before Laura Heath rescued it (thank god for her) from the original Annie. The inventory she holds is staggering. If you are upset there's a stain or tear on that $380 dress, it's because you don't understand it's a hand-beaded flapper number of chiffon silk from 1921 and if you're making a sour face about a small stain, then yeah you should probably get out of the store. These clothes are outsourced to the entertainment industry. She's a costumer and industry stylist. You are lucky to have the opportunity to buy this stuff and be the star of your own movie. Don't claim you want to support local but are mad you could get something similar for less on AliExpress. JFC hear yourself will you I haven't yet been to the new location but I can't wait. AKA the holy freakin' trinity of vintage shops!!! I loved going from room to room in this old house to check out all the jewelry and clothing. The employees were super helpful and happy to offer information about the origins of everything. There was a mix of vintage and newer things, as well as some stuff (like the cute necklace I bought) that Danielle designs. It was pretty funny to hear the girls working at Antique Archaeology tell some shoppers who asked that Danielle wasn't there because she was away. "If she was in town, she'd definitely be here," said one employee. Did they really not think she'd be right across the street in her own shop? Cuz she was.

My mom…read moreaccidentally dropped off an antique ride on Thomas the tank engine with its caboose and full set of tracks today. Less than 10 minutes later she went back to get it and was told they crushed everything but the ride on. They refused to let her see the supposed crushed items and told her they were in bad shape and that's why they crushed them. It was an ABSOLUTE lie! They were in mint condition in a sturdy container! The staff were rude to her. I am beyond furious about this and will never support them again!

I initially visited the store at 3536 N Brady on 5/30/2026 and worked with Jeff. I needed to do…read moresome shopping around but told him I'd be back the next day and asked for a business card. He was pretty nice. Fast talker with numbers, but nice. Jeff provided me the business card along with the measurements of each piece of furniture I inquired about. Went back on 5/31 as I said I would. On the way there, I found a competitor which had a much lower price for the same piece of furniture. I went in showed it to Jeff and asked if they would match the price as the business card he gave me says 'Price Match and Beat Out Competitors'. Jeff looked it up the add on his computer and said he' done this before and had to get call his manager. I could tell by the tones - 1st in their language, then he put him on speaker phone and Jeff talked in English while the manager continued to talk in their language. Jeff gets off of the phone and tells me that his manager doesn't think it's real. Mind you, Jeff has pulled it up on HIS computer and even showed me. He pulled up the competitors website, so I'm not sure how this could not be real or why they didn't call the store ( which is less than 3 blocks away) and confirm. I now advise him that the card he provided me has printed on there 'Price Match and Beat Out Competitors'. I told him I wasn't upset at him, but he told me this could be done and that this is false advertisement. I wasted my time going back to him because he seemed like a nice salesman. He asked if I was going to give them a 1 star review. I was honest and told him YES. I explained I was not mad at Jeff, however, in that moment, he was the face of his company and unfortunately, he has to take the complaint for how his manager handled the situation. I thanked him and told him to enjoy the rest of his day. I went to the competitor, paid the great price, saved over $700, and was done in less than 15 mins including setting up delivery! The manager at this business should stand by what he says he will do on his business card. Sometimes, your word is all you have, and to me, their word means NOTHING!
