She helped me choose some evergreen azalea plants that will have beautiful blooms in the spring but keep their green leaves in the winter. She listened to what I was looking for and even what colors I had in mind and showed me what she had. She is a super sweet woman! Some things to note: she is open by appointment only on Saturdays. I've been a customer for years but no more. Quality has plummeted, prices have skyrocketed, and…read moreservice is basically nonexistent. A few days ago I purchased 3 shrubs and a perrenial. The plants and shrubs all looked very neglected, except for the seasonal mums and some of the pansies. Today, I needed perennial salvia. They all looked almost dead. All the gallon perennials looked pretty bad. At the register I asked the price. A lady at a different register with her back to me yelled $9.99. The young lady checking me out looked up the price of salvia and quoted $12.99. There were no prices on or near any of those plants. Little did they know that I paid $5 for the same item, same condition, at the same register in their store just a few days ago. No, I did not ask the price at that time or ask for a discount. It rang up $5. I won't be buying anything at Pope's at Gingers due to the poor quality, lack of price transparency, and primarily because if someone shouts a price out-who I didn't address-at least they can turn around and face me. They let me special order my chicks, and had them delivered with their usual spring shipment. All 12 of my chicks are still alive, and healthy. They all seem to be hens thus far, which is what I ordered. It is really rare that a rooster does not get mixed in with a hen order, and even more rare that all the chicks make it through the first couple of weeks. If you are interested in poultry, stop by and chat with these folks. They have one of the best bee keeping supply selections I have seen in a store, and information on the local bee keeping club. I am giving them 5 stars based on their exceptional animal husbandry support. If they don't have a good answer, they will call a friend, or give you a neighbor's phone number. It is that sort of place. You can also buy hardware, seeds, tires, auto supplies, garden plants, and gasoline at this coop. They will usually leave shoppers to browse in peace unless one looks confused, and they always carry my purchases to my car.
