I have no clue why it took us so long to come here; maybe because there so many Latin places, and we have our favorites. Well we stepped out of the box, and went to the place that always seems dead. From the outside it's a little ominous, but once inside it's a pretty typical Mexican restaurant. Good size place with decorated booths, and tables. Our waitress while polite; seemed a little less than friendly. Don't get me wrong she fulfilled all our needs, she definitely put off the vibe of "I'm here for the check." That was literally the only issue I had; well that and the salsa wasn't great. As for the food; my burrito was perfectly seasoned, and my wife's chimichanga was as well. Both smothered in cheese, and both meats "chicken and beef" were tasty and moist. My child's chicken nuggets were actually hand made and hand breaded!!! The queso was literally some of the best I ever had, and my burrito was top 3! I am seriously wondering how this place is so dead!!! I think we got another favorite place on the menu! Recommend by a work colleague in the area for a quick lunch since we have never been in Russellville. I have to compare it to TexMex at home, so it would be average at best. It's a former fast food restaurant that was turned into the style quite a while ago, it was very dark inside. Service was fast and efficient. The chips were better than the salsa. The salsa was bland and had no bite to it, not even a hint of heat. I ordered the Bandero plate, 3 enchiladas with each of their sauces. It's only days from opening so the place is hopping and the wait staff is literally running to keep up. At 2 on a Saturday afternoon, no table stays empty for long, so I'm glad I got here before dinner service. The chips and salsa are fresh, very mild salsa which is the way I like it. Hotter salsa is available on request. Imagine my happiness to find a dairy-free offering in the Hawaiian Fajita. While awaiting my order I notice one of the TVs is set to basketball, one to figure skating and one to outdoor sports so it's a nice variety. My fajita plate has a huge pile of chicken, shrimp and steak. The lady at the next table is over the moon about the guacamole, which I don't eat. She says it's better than her own and she makes a mean guacamole. I may have to give in and try it! I got three tortillas to start with, and there's no way all that meat is going to fit into three tiny shells. This could definitely be shared. I didn't have time to eat everything, and to be honest there was a little problem in that nobody had time to check me out, much less get me a box for the leftovers. I was about to leave a check when someone came to process my payment real fast before seating the couple waiting impatiently next to me. The only negative is that the entrance is crowded and the tables are very close together. But when every table is full in the middle of the afternoon, is hard to see how they can take one out. It was awkward while waiting to pay, with people coming in behind me. Bottom line, I liked everything I tasted; the pineapple in the fajita, the salsa, and the punch. It's not that these flavors are stunning or jump up and slap you in the face, but Morelos gives you a good, solid plate and a good price at less than $10. read more

Great food! My favorite is the grilled veggie Quesadilla...outstanding! I love that the tortilla is filled to the brim with grilled veggies and not smashed to nothing like some other places. My drink is kept full and waitstaff are great at refilling chips and salsa and checking on things throughout the meal. My wife and I decided to try this place out, as it was new and we were curious. Well, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. When we walked in, there was no hostess, so we stood there for a good 7 minutes. As I stood there watching, I noticed that the waiters had to take orders, bus tables AND cash people out at the front. There was no cashier/hostess/Maitre d'. A waiter finally seated us, but the table was dirty. Come to think of it, the floor was quite filthy as well. I'm not sure if several people had called-in sick or what, but the place wan't that busy. A table of 7 to our left and maybe 6 other couples was all that I saw dining. Soon, our drinks and the usual chips & salsa arrived and I must say, the chips were hot and fresh, as if straight from a fryer, the salsa on the other hand, was a complete let-down. I'm as Irish as they come, but I know what salsa is and how to make it. The paste they brought us in the decanter was like pasta sauce. This was bland, thick and over-blended tomatoes; with zero chunk to it and hardly any garlic or cilantro. 20 minutes later our food arrived and I will make this short and sweet. The highlight was the chicken inside my burrito & enchilada (Guadalajara). It was moist, well-seasoned and quite good. Unfortunately, there was so much water underneath it that it killed everything. I don't know if they didn't drain the washed lettuce that was piled on there or if their "red sauce" was really that thin, but I know, that much water didn't come out of the shredded chicken. Maybe the pico de gallo or guacamole had a lot of water, I have no idea. My wife's taco lunch special wasn't any better. The yellow corn taco was soggy from the ground beef grease and when I sampled the beef from her taco, it tasted of nothing but salt. Even when I make Mexican beef dishes at home, I always add Cumin, chili powder (Ancho), garlic powder & onion powder. Heck, at least throw some Adobo or beef bullion in there (After the meat is cooked & drained). Overall, it was a big let-down. The place is decorated nicely, but so is La Chiquita and their food is hands-down a cut above this place. I will gladly give your chef a free lesson in seasoning techniques and food prep for free. We loved this place. The service was impeccable, the food came hot, fast and delicious. There was so much on my dish, I took half of it home to enjoy later as my evening meal. I wanted to love this restaurant... The parking lot was almost empty when we pulled up at 6 pm. When we walked in, there was only 1 or 2 other tables. We were greeted immediately and sat. Drinks, chips and salsa provided. The atmosphere was fantastic. Servers were kind and did their best to be attentive during our experience (a 32 top walked in right after we got our drinks). Server was attentive in taking our order, notating the additions of sour cream and other changes. All of our food came out correctly, but the food was extremely bland. My husband said the only redeeming item we had was the chili relleno, which was excellent. The enchilada was plain, corn tortilla maybe under cooked, the red sauce was missing seasoning, and was brown instead of red. The super nachos were smothered in the cheese sauce and some standing water which made all the chips soggy and inedible. Adding salsa helped, but it was still missing flavor. The salsa was ok, but still missing something. I've eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the country so I know flavor can fluctuate depending on location, but this was one of the more disappointing Mexican experiences yet. Makes me wonder if their bland seasoning is due to the local clientele wanting a less spicy experience. I hope the next time we visit, a request for a spicier selection might make the difference. read more
