The location, on Lake Colby, is convenient to all things Adirondack as it's close to Paul Smith's College- Tupper Lake-Saranac Lake downtown Village-Whiteface-Lake Placid- and the High Peak trails. Did I mention it is lakefront with kayaks and canoes to play with? The lake has a certain outboard motor restriction of 10 mph engines. Kelly and John own the 4 cabins. 3 are lakefront. Attention has been made to the smallest details like garden plantings, cottage themes, a boat house of gear, welcome bottle of goodies, small basket on the kitchen island with small necessities like flashlights, sewing kit, toothbrush, bug spray, pads and pens and more. If you are not familiar with the Adirondacks and/or want the "ADK experience", ( an attractive cozy intimate brown one story cabin on a pristine clean quiet lake with a great view with an attentive owner) look no farther than The Cabins at Lake Colby. The location is not way out in the middle of the woods. You are close to a main road and near the local hospital---- but when you step inside you are transported elsewhere! "Moose" Cottage was top drawer! Quality furnishings! Comfy mattress and sheets! The largest Moose head I have ever seen! Decorated beautifully! I can't give it all away! The flow of the cabin works. The kitchen is large enough for two to be prepping at the granite counters and stainless propane gourmet cooktop while others easily pass by. Room enough to cook together. The propane fire really can heat the place and adds ambiance. Outside there is a fire ring and split wood. We used the grill. Adirondack chairs line up like soldiers on the waters edge. Everything you require to cook was there! We forgot mustard and Kelly came over with two types. She enjoys meeting her visitors! These cabins are ideal for the couple who wants to get away. Two cabins have two bedrooms, two are one bedroom with a living area. One sports two bathrooms. Ours had a jet tub! Our cabin sported 2 queens and a sofabed. I recommend doing this so you have the dock and little beach all to yourself. It's a very affordable place with extremely nice owners. Lake Flower is stunning and it's a short ride into town by boat or car. We launch our boat at the town docks load up our belongings and drive the boat to the house and pick up the car later but there is access from the road to the house and if you have a smaller boat you could launch there except it's on a steep hill so you might still want to use public docks. The beds are not very comfortable but the beauty of the great outdoors makes me forget my achy back quickly after waking up. Come here for the beautiful view, private dock and spacious and affordable accommodations.

We stayed the first time when I had an asthma attack from the hotel on top of the hill and had to get out and take a walk to breathe. I was looking up possible other hotels and saw the sign for the Haus. I found the number and called and Mr. Michael was amazing and was able to get me and my son a room! It was clean, pretty, and we had everything we needed and loved being right on Main Street. We were able to walk wherever we wanted and after we wanted to stay longer. Yulia the manager moved us to the room across the hall since ours was taken and we wanted to stay longer and ended up in number 10 for the past 2 nights. What bliss! The staff was amazing! They were available easily by text or phone and accommodated us with any need we had! Towels... change of sheets, cleaning. We went back again the following year, last year 2023 and stayed in another suite since the ones we wanted were not available but without fail, we loved everything about our stay! This time dad came along and he enjoyed it too. Needless to say, we look super forward to being there again this year! Third year in a row! Thank you!

We stayed at Cochran's Cabins, Camp Melissa, from 7/1 to 7/5/17. The unit inside was cozy and clean. The owner, Marjorie, was very friendly and accommodating us during our late check-in but that's where it ended. There was no mention or followup concern about the picnic table and deck issues during our 1st morning at the cabin. Lastly, management needs to update their website: 1) There is no wraparound deck or charcoal grill on location at Camp Melissa and 2) Camp fires were not permitted (we found out on arrival), management needs to alert potential guests of this rule and/or have a distinctive notice on the website.

I have the luxury of knowing someone who owns a timeshare at this location so am fortunate to be able to stay from time to time. Each unit has a full kitchen, dining room, living room, loft, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, patio, and balcony. Amenities include a jacuzzi, sauna, and wood-burning fireplace. These three things alone make warming up and relaxing after long, cold (but fun!) days out in the frigid weather a breeze. The entry ways are large, with a bench and several coat hooks, to easily slip into and out of snow gear, boots, hats and gloves. The condo I stayed in had a gorgeous view of the golf course with a mountainous backdrop. I rented cross country skis from a local business and had the ability to ski right out the back door. The Jack Rabbit Trail runs nearby and there are plenty of paths and byways to explore in the immediate vicinity. Took sleds outside and slid down the sloping hills of the course. Wi-fi access was fast; plenty of room to spread out to get some work done remotely while I was there. Check-in was a breeze. Parking available for two cars. Initial supply of hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher tablets, sponge, toilet paper, and coffee supplies available but after that you're on your own. Plenty of clean sheets and towels.

Days before our stay, he was seriously injured in a horrible bike crash. He couldn't travel, couldn't compete, and our family was dealing with a real medical emergency, not an inconvenience. I contacted the company right away and explained what happened. They offered to refund us if they were able to rebook the property. I waited in good faith. The dates passed, and when I followed up, I learned they never rebooked it. When I asked again about the refund, they flatly refused. Let that sink in: a child was injured, and this company's response was to hide behind a policy instead of showing an ounce of basic human empathy. No compassion, no flexibility, no acknowledgment that a real person's real emergency mattered more than a few hundred dollars. They had every opportunity to do the right thing and chose not to, twice. This is what happens when a company decides money matters more than the people paying it. If you're looking for a host or property manager who will treat you like a human being if something goes wrong, look elsewhere. This one will take your money and offer you nothing but indifference in return.
