I had to hire a lawyer to get my brother to start moving on things. It's been almost a year since then, and since Gordon told me I was owed more from the estate. The amount is significant. He has given me the old, "I forgot" line too, a couple of times. He seems to just lag. I feel sorry for my mom and late step-father, who championed this guy as a good Christian fellow. That's the main reason they chose him as their attorney, they told me. I don't know when this will be over, but it would sure be nice to get some closure and move on, knowing it's done and over with.

Mike was able to fit me in for a consultation within a couple of weeks, and from there, he helped me through the entire probate process via email and phone calls. He ensured we stayed on track with the necessary filings and other legal requirements for Colorado probate and made himself available whenever I requested a phone call for a more detailed explanation about where we were in the process or what I needed to do next. His paralegal, Brenda Holt, was also wonderful to work with and incredibly prompt in responding to all of my emails. She went above and beyond, even helping me track down tax information from the county for my father's house and working with the court to get my Letters of Administration re-certified when I needed them later in the estate administration process. Our case was settled and David did an excellent job. One of the opposing parties attorney was particularly challenging to deal with and ultimately they kept give insultingly low settlement amounts. Finally after much negotiation that came to a number that wasn't a complete insult but was still really low, lower than we wanted to accept. David was able to get that amount raised by almost 10% to get us to a number that we could accept. I really appreciate their expertise and patience and working as best they could try and limit our legal fees. The evidence is our case was strong and a different opposing attorney tried the strategy of attempting to price us out of the game and try to cause us to rack up fees. They did a great job at keeping the fees as low as possible while still making this case progress. Initially they were only offering 25% of what we actually settled upon and it took them loosing their motion to dismiss to come back with some more serious offers. We really attribute the amount of our settlement to expertise and skill of the staff, over the years we dealt with many of them, and they were all great! This was an extremely stressful, complicated and expensive situation that Hans Tuft successfully and expertly navigated us through. We were ultimately able to recoup the replacement cost of the roof which was several hundred thousand dollars!! Through this personal experience I have come to appreciate how complicated construction defect is and how critical it is to secure the right attorney right away. Mr. Tuft helped us navigate the legal system. He helped us hire a quality engineer so that everything was documented correctly and would be admissable in court. Mr. Tuft also led us through the process of having the roof properly repaired and our attempt for pre-trial mediation. Going to trial is a trying, exhausting process that requires a lot of preparation. Mr. Tuft did a great job of navigating us through all of this so that my husband and I properly understood the process. Mr. Tuft gave us the opportunity to provide input into the trial, and prepared us as necessary. Hans Tuft did a great job representing us in court in front of a jury and was able to secure a great settlement for us. Ultimately, the jury awarded us what we were requesting for our settlement and my husband and I were finally able to put this behind us. I am very grateful to Hans Tuft for the job he did on our behalf. Mr. Tuft is knowledgable about construction defect, is experienced in navigating thru these kind of cases, is incredibly hard working at representing his clients, and is also very pleasant to work with.
