Worst customer service ever Jennifer accepted the case on Feb 25th and again on March 1st through phone and email, then telling us she doesn't have time, 10 days before the submission deadline Phone conversation: Feb 25, she accepted the case and sent the secure link which initially didn't work and after back and forth, link sent on Feb 28 We uploaded all docs on March 3rd. No response to 4 follow up emails and 4 phone calls after that until March 25th. Finally quote came on March 25th. I Accepted on April 1st. No response again until I called them and asked for the status. on April 5th she emailed me that: "They normally don't accept clients in March and now we need to file extension because she doesn't have time" She was blaming us for answering to the quote email late!!! I couldn't believe what I saw in the email. I will add all the email screenshots to this review if this company is accusing me of providing inaccurate info. read more

I have been with Morling and Company for over 5 years. They have increased the cost of doing my taxes by 40% over the years with no change in the complexity in my taxes. When I called to ask for justification for the rise in cost, I was made to feel like an undervalued customer because I was not in their price point followed by a farewell and best of luck in finding a new tax service company. For more than 15 years I had worked with a CPA firm in San Francisco which grew so large by focusing on corporate clients, that it became difficult to reach my CPA to discuss my annual tax planning strategy and the fees doubled each year. I decided that it was time to search for a new CPA firm in 2010. Several of my colleagues at a SF tech company highly recommended Jennifer Batuyong at Morling & Company. After carefully completing a tax planning preparation packet we made an appointment to meet at the Morling & Company office on Montgomery Street. During our initial meeting Jennifer had prepared a conference room and projected sophisticated 'tax planning software' to analyzed several strategies-very impressive. Our first 3 hour session was extremely detailed, informative, comfortable and well planned. In my case we planned for several years in advance. I would be selling equities, selling CA property, purchasing a home, and making a move out of state. Together we worked on a tax strategy for semi-retirement and plans to set up a consulting business LLC. I am so grateful for Jennifer and her thoughtful guidance and expertise each and every step of way. She has calmly guided me through several stressful years and being there to advise me on all the complicated tax codes and regulations. They failed at the one thing that they were hired to do. We hired this company in February after deciding that the accounting firm we had used for the last few years was too big to really care about our tiny business. Morling & Co., a firm that seemed tailored to small businesses, told us no problem, gave us an info packet, and said if we got the info packet back to them by March 21st, our taxes would be prepared and e-filed by April 15th. So, we fill out the appropriate information about our finances, gather all tax documents and send them off by March 21st as directed. We heard from them once right after sending the packet, where they called and asked a few follow-up questions. Then, nothing....we waited and waited. When we hadn't heard from them by April 14th, my husband and I were fairly concerned. Tax day came and they still hadn't called, so my husband calls and they admit that THEY DID NOT DO OUR TAXES!!! What?!?!?! Then, to try and escape the liability they themselves created, they "advised" us to pay a tax rate of what amounted to 50% of our income to cover THEIR butts so that penalties and interest wouldn't start to accrue. FURTHERMORE, he tried to get US to file the extension for filing when THEY were the ones that missed the deadline, so that it would seem like WE had missed the deadline, and not THE FIRM WE HIRED TO WORRY ABOUT THIS STUFF FOR US. To make matters worse, when we were able to see what little calculations they had actually accomplished, they had our income off by $62,000!!!! I know all of this sounds made up, I can hardly believe this happened myself, but unfortunately it is all too real. I don't know how a company stays in business when they fail at the one thing they are hired to do, but I AM TELLING EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS ACCOUNTING FIRM!!! What a freaking circus, I was and continue to be flabbergasted by this. Needless to say, we fired Morling & Co. and have hired another accountant to file our taxes. read more

My taxes are not terribly complex. We hired Morling to execute them for us from the mid 90's until 2012 when we discovered that for two years in a row, they failed to file a critical schedule for us. It resulted in interest penalties and hours of frustrating back and forth to figure out what had happened. During the whole process, Morling was defensive and unhelpful. Their point of view is that they have bigger clients to serve. Avoid them at all costs if you want your taxes done properly! read more

I first read about Morling Co on yelp earlier in the year when I was doing 2013 taxes. This was my first time using an account, before coming here I used turbo tax. After finding out I qualified for the alternative minimum tax, I realized turbo tax wasn't going to cut it. Within a week I went from owing 18k to getting a small refund thanks to Jerry. I'm now in the middle of an audit for a refund from a few years back. Jerry is once again coming to the rescue. I would highly recommend seeing Jerry for any tax refunds.
