So we have tried spring rolls (nr.5), coconut soup with chicken (nr.2) and rice with green curry/coconut source (nr.25) and all of these plates have been fresh and delicious. The size of portions are decent as well, if you don't mind sharing delicious food. The only minus I can think of is that there are no menus available in English, therefore unless you know the Thai-food related vocabulary in Danish, picking your food can be quite a lottery game. But I am not going to take away the star, as the staff was very helpful and willing to explain all the items we did not understand. Over. And over. And over. After several cursing rants, I said I was coming back and hung up. When I got there, I asked her if she could review what I paid for. She started in about she was sure she gave me 2 orders of fried shrimp. I said I knew she did. But that's not what I said was missing. But on the phone, like now, she just kept yelling at me. Not listening. When I pointed this out and got her to listen, she actually apologized. But then started yelling about the 2 orders of fried shrimp again. Then I asked if she was the owner and she said no. I said I would take it up with the owner. In the meantime, I needed to feed my visiting mother in law and asked an order of shrimp fried rice (that I would pay separately for!). She then told me she would not sell to me. This was a return trip to this restaurant for me on bike, In the rain. And we have ordered take out no less than 10 times in the last few months from here. Rude, disrespectful and just plain crazy. And this was without mentioning the fact that they are always much later than they estimate and order to be ready. i.e., today I was told 25 minutes, showed up at the 35/40 min mark and still had to wait for almost 30 min to take my shorted order...). I was always willing to tolerate the wait time because the food was good. Unfortunately the antics of the cashier have ensured we won't be ordering from this place again.

The food is awfully good, and FRESH, FRESH, FRESH. Our party shared veggie spring rolls and chicken shrimp spring rolls piping hot out of the pan. We also shared Chicken Pad Thai and Penang Curry. (White rice comes with the latter 2 dishes.) Again, extremely tasty, and absolutely fresh. When Wok says "Modern. Natural. Thai." they ain't kidding. The original location looks to be mostly take-away, but there are 2 tables for 6. This is a wonderful place to eat, and reasonably priced. I soon discovered why: Aside from regular tables, they have two 'beds' - it's sort of like bungalow-beds filled with pillows, lamps, candles hanging from the ceiling - it's really cosy and romantic, so thumbs up for that! When we arrived the beds where still occupoed so we went to the small bar where Ulrik started off with a beer and I had the lichee cocktail - the beer was good, the cocktail just OK. Ulrik and I are quite familiar with Thai food from Bangkok where we attended cooking classes at the Blue Elephant - and to be honest, the food here was a bit poor. We started off with the snack shrimp chips, which tasted pre-made as if just poured from a crisp bag. The duck and shrimp fresh spring rolls where OK, but the sauce to go with them was bland. However, the main was probably the worst part: Ulrik had the special pork and I had the shrimp in rice noodles. Ulrik's main was not very tasty, being very salt, fatty and unespecial. My shrimp dish was so over-cooked and rubbery, that I ended up sending it back. I guess they were out of shrimps and asked if I wanted to make another order. I went for the scallops, a much better choice than the shrimps as the scallops tasted more fresh and juicy. I'll give it a 3 star as I really liked the beds and the romantic feel of the place. But the food simply didn't live up to the expectations.

Just saying, you can eat there if you want. The food? Ah the food, the name itself is famous because the original Kiin Kiin is the only Thai place that has Michelin star (although I am pretty sure lots of restaurants in Thailand are better, just not recognised by what originally published as "car guide") We ordered nr 22 (sesame oil-fried shrimp coated with sesame seeds and served with wasabi mayo), 23 (Gau bao with sweet pork with peanuts and spring onions), 24 (Crispy calamari in panko-flour with chili mayo) for starters and nr 53 (Panang curry with beef and lychee and mixed vegetables served with jasmine rice) nr 62 (Pad Kra Pow - minced pork with chili and basil served with egg sunny side up) for main course. The snacks were average. My calamari was just like other calamari, but the bao was good (I am looking forward to trying kiin kiin bao!) and the chili mayo wasn't that strong either. The panang curry was delicious with heavy note of peanut sauce in it, just like the way it should be, but I kind of regret that I didn't order red curry instead (I don't eat chicken) because panang curry is always mild and I miss the burn in my tongue! The beef was thinly sliced and tasted wonderfully with the lychee (only 2??) and the broccoli and cauliflower were super good. They had the flavouring of the curry very well without being all limpy after being cooked to oblivion as most vegetables in curry do. Service was top too. I ordered by phone and told them that I would pick it up half an hour later and when I showed up, the food was still warm and ready for me to bring home, but there was a misunderstanding with the order as I ordered 22 and they thought I was ordering 27 (classic Danish number mistake) but they were very nice about it and replaced it immediately (with minimum waiting time) without complaints and apologised so many times for the inconvenience. The bill for my part of the food came up at around 210 DKK, way too expensive for take away, but with the quality of the food and the service, I gladly paid for it, although next time I might skip the snack and just stick to the main course - because the snacks weren't that much of worth (especially my calamari for 85 DKK - that could buy me damn good beef fried noodles in Magasasa already!)

Once we picked up the food and got it home, I got a small shock when I saw the Sesame-fried prawns with wasabi mayo (85 dkk). On the website they look light and tempura-fried. What I got was heavy and very thickly breaded; and where is the sesame? The taste was ok but it felt very inadequate for the price. Thankfully the main dish fared much better. Pad kra pow (115 dkk) comes with fresh coriander, Thai basil, bean sprouts, a perfectly fried egg, and jasmine rice. The pork was nicely spiced with chili but sweetened a little too much to try to balance it out. That was the most interesting thing on the menu; everything else was comparable to what you see on menus at other "Westernized" Thai takeaways. I was hoping for at least some better-looking Thai salads but I guess they don't want to overexcite the locals. Avoid the prawns that I got; the other starters looked much better. The Pad kra pow was good but certainly did not live up to the price nor the name. I would rather go to Ban-Gaw and get tastier, spicier food that costs less.
