I was excited to take my 11 year old son to the water park and stay the night. We did a last minute booking so the only room available that worked for us was the King Suite. It's a king bed, queen sofa sleeper, balcony and small kitchenette. The room itself was clean, lodgey/mountain feel without being run down. Views of the mountain were nice. At first it seemed great. We quickly put on our swimsuits and headed for the water park. When we came back is when our stay became very lackluster. The power along one wall didn't work at all. So none of the lamps, phone, outlets worked. I thought maybe a switch needed to be flipped on but we tried every switch and none of them turned it on. Oh well, the other lights worked so we moved on. Then I was getting my son settled in his sofa sleeper. There weren't any blankets on it or in the cabinets. So I had to call and ask for them, they brought them up quickly which was appreciated. Then when I was getting into my king bed I realized all the pillows are TINY! Not even queen sized pillows. I've never seen that at a hotel before where they have twin sized baby pillows on a king bed. They were lumpy, cotton pillows. Very uncomfortable. The bedding and blankets were very thin. So I had to have the heat up more than I'd like just to stay warm. All of these things wouldn't have been a huge inconvenience, it's only one night. But it was $385 for this room. I stayed at a hotel in Paris that was 5 stars, incredible beds with feather pillows, claw foot bathtub, heated toilet seats and bidet with a rainfall shower for less. It's off season so it doesn't make sense why it's so expensive. And I was hoping the beds would be more comfortable. Then the REAL problem is the hotel walls are NOT insulated well. I had one neighbor that I literally can hear every word they're saying like they're in my hotel room. I thought they were in the hallway so when I opened my door to politely ask them to quiet down (it was midnight and we were tired and couldn't sleep) I realized, no, they're next door and the walls are too thin. I could hear their entire conversation without trying and I wish I couldn't. I just wanted to sleep. Then the neighbors on the other side of the wall had a baby that cried all night and they woke up at 5:30 am. I could also hear their entire conversation and their baby crying like it was in my bed. Worst night of sleep ever! Definitely not worth the price. I have a terrible neck and back ache from the bed and pillows and barely slept due to the noise. We are in Building C on the 3rd floor for reference. read more

We rented the suite with a loft and with one (big) exception it was very nice. The exception is that in a suite that will sleep up to six, it only had one bathroom. This inevitably leads to chaos when everyone is trying to get ready for skiing. Adjoining rooms would be better, but they don't have a full kitchen or the nice sitting area. Other than that the place is very nice. It was clean and quiet (we were in building D). All of the staff is very nice, My grandkids had a great time in the waterpark. The waterpark was very crowded, but the kids did not mind, and I found a relatively quiet corner. read more

We booked a condo to treat ourselves. The room was large... but spending the extra money is not worth it if they put you in building D. The sidewalks were treacherous around building D, they were fine everywhere else. That and we were put right next to the freeway. The semi truck jake breaks were super annoying. If you do stay here, don't let them put you in building D. read more

This is where you buy your mountain passes and gondola tickets. My husband was holding our ten month old daughter and said we wanted to take her tubing when they sold us a $50 pass for 3 and under to go up the mountain. When we came down 40 mins after our time slot started (gondola takes 30 mins each way) the lady was a real bitch about it and said they never do refunds and after talking to her manager said "we will do it this ONE time but don't think it will happen again". All the staff we met at this lodge was AWFUL. I would never stay here based on this experience and never come back based on the staff either. I can go to Sweitzer for cheaper and shorter of a trip with friendly staff. She should have not sold us the tickets in the first place and told us we couldn't take our daughter tubing. read more

The mountain is great but the staff doesn't follow their own Covid posted rules. People must not believe in the pandemic here because half the staff is mask-less including check in desk and people bringing supplies to your room. read more

We have stayed in this Hotel before and have never been treated so horrible by all the Staff. Front desk Lady was yelling at someone when we went to check in. Once we were checked in the room it was not what was specified in the booking, there was still trash in the room and on the floor. Our cards were deactivated TWICE for no reason and we were blamed for having them next to a "ELECTRONIC DEVICE" and of course we said no which Irate the front desk. What is really going on here!! The price for a one bedroom condo for one night was over $600!!! SERIOUSLY OVER PRICED...considering it was an extremely poor Staff and Management. I recommend that no one stay here!!! Air BNB is a better choice or just someone else. Shame on you Morning Star! read more

My family booked our stay here after doing a lot of research on the resort. I looked into different condos and some Air bnbs before ultimately deciding on the Morningstar Lodge. All reviews and the website talked about the accommodations and wonderful dining selections available. My husband and I brought our 2 year old son and dog with us, so we weren't expecting to have a lavish, relaxing time; but when we arrived our room had been half-cleaned. There was a glob of toothpaste on the bathroom floor, my son spilled some water washing his hands so I took a towel to the bathroom floor and it was BLACK with black hair all over it. We are all blonde. Not to mention the King sized bed advertised is two twins pushed together!! It wasn't mentioned until I asked to switch all Kings are that way. Very condescending front desk staff. The pizza we ordered from wildcat pizza took double the time they quoted and they had multiple pieces of hair in the pizza. The waterpark was nice until we got over to Pollywog Pond, there was trash in the corner next to the stairs I had to take away from my son, the lifeguard watched this and turned the other way. More trash accumulated in the time we were there. The front desk staff at the waterpark were kind in the evening and super helpful, but in the morning they seemed flustered. We chalked it all up to the race that was going on that weekend and went to checkout, and pack the truck up. The maintenance/housekeeping lady, who was taking some trash out made a rude comment about our truck as we were packing up. She giggled kept walking. Overall, super disappointing experience here. We won't be staying again and I will be calling to see what I can do about a partial refund. read more

The great thing about staying here is that there is an indoor waterpark on site that is free with a stay at the hotel. Its also the site of the gondola that goes up the mountain to the Silver Mountain ski resort. There are a few restuarants and a bar. There are 4 large buildings, apparently some of these are used as condos, but it somehow also works as a hotel. It was much nicer than I expected for the price (which was much cheaper than another themed hotel/indoor water park). Free computers to use in the lobby. Rooms come with kitchens or kitchenettes, which can be ever more helpful in keeping costs down. Rooms also have balconies. I love the historical pictures located in the light fixtures around the halls, such a great idea. Not sure why the parking area needed to be gated as this was more of an inconvenience than anything but I suppose its to keep skiiers from parking in the area. There a few hottubs, some are located on different floors of the buildings, all outside. I would love to see the waterpark have longer hours and free wifi would be a nice touch. read more

This place was incredible. The room was high end. The bed was sooo comfy. The whole place was clean and inviting. The staff was great as well. Asked for dinner recommendations at the front desk and not only did we get an excellent referral but it was obvious the staff was familiar with the area. Although we were there for our anniversary we felt it was very family friendly and can't wait to come back with our kids. I took off one star for lack of room service and dining options in general in the lodge area. They will most certainly have our business again! read more

First room was still dirty. Trash not empty, bed made but linens were dirty, dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Not horrible, stuff happens. I moved to another room. Ashes all over the coffee table and the linens did not look fresh. I washed them before I went to bed. Good parts... washer and dryer in the room, nice furnishings, large and spacious rooms. Too bad the patio door doesn't have blinds as everyone outside can see in to where you sit on the sofa. read more

I've been coming to Silver for a couple of years now and my fiancé and I finally decided to spend the weekend and stay at the lodge (Memorial Day 2017 - we got to ski and bike! Pretty cool). We were super excited to stay at the lodge and were initially impressed by the well-appointed studio room, which has a mini kitchen and a nice sized bathroom. Then someone in the room next to is started talking at what seemed to be a normal level. And we could hear everything, and clearly enough that I could have written down the phone number she was giving to the pizza delivery guy she was ordering from. So I called the front desk to ask if we could move, hoping it was just this room (we were near a corner suite so the rooms were situated a little oddly). Nope. At least the new room only shares a wall with one other room. And hopefully Doris and her husband really can drop the discussion about the photo he posted. Because it's a boring one. So, yeah, everything looks nice, but it seems like they skimped on the construction materials. And, at $150 a night, we may look into the other nice hotel if we choose to stay again. I'd much rather have privacy than a water park. read more
