This has been our 2nd time staying at the Inn and needless to say we will be back. The accommodation are perfect for a small family or for just for two people, like us. Wallace Inn has been my accommodation choice in N. Idaho for many years. However, since they have dropped the Best Western affiliation, quality has been going downhill. My latest visit was 7/19. I booked their most expensive room. Issues encountered: Entering the room after check-in, we were overwhelmed by the odor of room deodorizer. Despite a 100 degree+ outside temperature, we were forced to open the windows, turn the fan on high and leave the room. Returning many hours later, we discovered: Horizontal surfaces were uncleaned and sticky. Stained furniture. Filthy bathroom floor. Clogged sink. Lastly, staff was unable to provide post-9pm dining information, needed because that was the time that our evening engagement concluded. They gave us a flyer for a delivery service in a nearby town as a solution. We had find food on our own. Needless to say, we will not be returning nor recommending the hotel to others. read more

Wouldn't stay here ever again. Front desk staff wasn't friendly. The back "secure" door that should only open with a hotel key for safety never locked and when mentioned to staff, they just shrugged and said someone would look at it. Bathrooms had mold on shower wall tile, large stain in middle of carpet, rips in curtains, and sheets were rough. To top it off, night desk staff called at 9pm demanding they needed their money because they were doing an audit. To clarify, we reserved our room on a credit card and informed front desk staff we'd be paying cash for the room when we checked out in the morning which was not a problem until our late night call waking up my entire family. Would not leave until we provided cash upon claims they had to do the audit tonight as manager was going out of town. I've never heard of an audit happening at 9pm on a Sunday and after reading a few other reviews other guests have mentioned discrepancies with credit card charges and room charges. Potential guests beware, if you don't have an immediate need for a hotel in Wallace, keep on driving to Kellogg. If you do need a place to lay your head PLEASE look elsewhere at the other hotels in the area that won't disturb your rest in more ways than one. read more

I have been staying here for years, as my family is local. This place is run down and the staff does not care. Clogged drains, dirty floors and cigarette smoke through the vents (I'm all for people having fun... respectfully) I hope they clean the place up, I've always enjoyed staying here. read more

The staff was polite and helpful. It has a small bar and a nice cafe that was full of locals. Our breakfasts were very good! I'm not picky when it comes to hotels. Just give me a clean place to sleep, and I'm good. The Wallace is a little outdated (80s). It is clean, beds are comfortable and it's fairly quiet. Their pool was wonderful for the kids and was very clean and warm. They also have a nice hot tub and two saunas. David at the front desk was a delight. He really knows a lot about Wallace and is very helpful for tourists. Our next trip to Wallace will include a stay here, again. read more

The tub in the room was delightful! Its like a small hot tub in your hotel room basically- it's huge. It could fit two full sized adults comfortablywithout problem. The room was large and beautiful. Clean and well kept. They do have a restaurant downstairs that I wasn't really that fond of but it was nice to have it on site. The biggest problem with this room (and why I rated it 3 stars) is the bed is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I didn't sleep well at all. I don't think I'm overly sensitive when it comes to beds Ive stayed in many hotel rooms but this bed was just not comfortable. The Hercules was booked for my birthday weekend, so I decided to spoil myself with a hot tub room at the Wallace. The wallpaper is a little scraped up, the coffeemaker crapped out after the 2nd cup, the main towel rack by the tub fell off of the wall when I tried to hang a towel on it, and the pillows were stained. The hotel in general seems to not be insulated very well. We heard every little sound in the hallway and through the walls. At least we had a plug for our tub, unlike the lady in line ahead of us, because what good would a hot tub be without a plug? Not worth the $200+ per night. read more

We booked 7 rooms to stay on the 6th day of our annual Harley trip. The morning we left Missoula en route to Wallace, my 65 and 75 year old Parent's rolled their CanAm Spyder at 65 mph down the highway suffering massive trauma. We contacted the hotel and they said they would cancel our rooms but we would still be charged. Absolutely zero Empathy or accommodation. Several calls were made to the manager but he refused to take our calls and still has not returned any messages. We have stayed here in the past but will never stay again. A few in our group did stay that night but my brother and I stayed in Missoula with our parents. The manager wouldn't even speak to anyone in our group. Avoided them during their one night stay before the headed home. The other motel we cancelled without being charged and was completely understanding. Our Missoula motel opened up our rooms even though being completely booked, cut our rates in half, and extended our stay until our Parent's get released. We are on day 4 with mom and dad still in hospital, with Dad in ICU. read more

After driving through the Montana mountains this was a site for sour eyes. While the room was typical the customer service is an A+++. Great service for a night that they were hosting a training event in a small town of less than 1,000 I believe. The room was clean with cable and a fridge which was nice after having food in our trunk for the long trip. The wi-fi was super spotty so we stopped trying. We stayed here for a couple of nights in November for a funeral. The staff was really friendly and the room was clean and nice for a quick weekend. Our whole family was together and they put our rooms right next to each other so that we could all communicate and spend time together. The pool was clean and big enough for the kids to play in and the hot tub was perfect for the adults. No complaints here other than the thin walls - you can hear doors shutting and people talking in the hallways. The restaurant was decent! There was only one server when we went in there (for what I THOUGHT would be a nice quiet breakfast) and our entire family (like 15 people) ended up showing up to eat. We're patient people, but we can get kind of loud. She seemed frazzled but she handled our group very well and the food was good! I had the chicken fried steak and eggs special - SO GOOD. My husband got the Center of the Universe and he loved it (it's basically a giant pile of breakfast food). The pancakes are HUGE and fluffy! read more

While conducting some business with Dave Smith, I decided that our stay would be at the Wallace Inn. Most reviews included positive comments about cleanliness and that is number one for My Wife. Our stay would be 2 nights. I checked in, grabbed a luggage cart, and loaded up. Walked in the motel and asked the lady behind the counter to point me to the elevator as we were on the second floor. She kindly pointed to the stairs and explained that they didn't have an elevator. Oh well, time for a bit of exercise. Our room was clean. Definitely outdated but clean none the less. It will do. It was late and the local places for a nightcap were closing in an hour or so. O'Rourke's Lounge is located on site and happened to be open tonight. The place was empty so we had it to ourselves. Jessica usually works the Trailside Cafe (also on site) but was asked to help with the bar tonight. She explained that she wasn't a bartender but would make anything we wanted happen. Just bottled beer for us tonight so it all worked out. Jessica was awesome! Jessica was a local and had a wealth of knowledge about the area which kept it entertaining and interesting. Cold beer, a great person behind the bar, and The Cougs on TV! An Alamo Bowl Win today...Go Cougs! Other than The Trailside Cafe and a coffee in the lobby there is no breakfast at The Wallace Inn. All in all it was a decent stay in Wallace. Nothing fancy but the place is clean and you can get a good nights sleep. Maybe you'll luck out and Jessica will be working the bar. We have traveled by and through Wallace Idaho many many times on the way to Spokane or Seattle and never thought to stop. We decided to do some of the activities that Kellog/Wallace have to offer (hike the Palusky trail, old Museums and bike the Hiawatha Trail) and stayed at the Wallace Inn. Very surprised and very happy we stayed there. Are standard is Best Western Plus (not Best Western only Best Western Plus) and above like Hampton Inn. And Wallace Inn is right up there with a Best Western Plus. The rooms are great and well decored, has a great pool and jacuzzi, has the Trailside Cafe that offers a great breakfast. They are pet friendly with excellent parking, access and security (our vehicle was not vandalized or burglarized on premise like at the last Ramada Inn we stayed at in Garden Grove CA.) I would definitely stay at this place again and would recommend you try it. Cost about $100 for the night extremely reasonable. read more

This quaint town welcomed us at the Wallace Inn. Rick the manager gave us the star treatment and all the staff were very helpful. We used the indoor pool, spa and steam room, and relaxed in our rooms -- sleeping in WAY too late (a good thing to do on vacation) because of the black out curtains. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel's cafe and were treated wonderfully there too. Hot coffee refills to your hearts desire. The room we were in had a fridge for our drinks and a coffee maker. The A/C kept us nice and cool throughout the night. We also enjoyed walking around the town and getting to know a bit of its history. We will be back again for sure; especially to take in some of the Wallace sites! read more

She mentioned that the hot tub and pool area was closed but that she would be happy to give us towels and make an exception. I typically stay at the 50,000 Silver Dollar hotel on the other side of lookout pass in Montana when commuting east from Seattle, but recently I opted for Wallace Inn. The cost is slightly higher, but the experience is also slightly better. My stay was $84 + $20 for pet fee plus taxes. The price was cheaper when I called them directly compared to every travel site I visited by a minimum of $5.00. Are you travelling with a pet? If so, you have to call them directly to book. The hotel lobby is very homey and the front desk staff were nice. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the tv was flat. There was also a couch in the room, so plenty of space. The water pressure in the shower could use some help. In addition, they leave the local news paper in front of the door in the morning. One issue I'd like to see addressed is the side door entrance lock, which was not functioning via key card. Instead, it was open to the public. I would stay here again. read more

This is definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! My post on Facebook has now been deleted 10 times! I have all the time in the world to copy and paste and continue to repost so every dog owner avoids it like the plague! I will also post the to the BBB and other relevant sites such as yelp etc. During my experience at the Wallace Inn, I briefly left my 3 dogs in the room for approximately 20 minutes to help my fiancé get needed supply's from the tied down cargo hold on top of our SUV. He could not do this alone because he had to stand on the tire and hand me the items. During this time, the Manager Rick Schafer chose to go into our room, invade our privacy without permission, and take my 3 beloved dogs from our room without letting us know and placed them in a locked van! His reason? A complaint of barking. Well now that my trip is almost at an end we have stayed at four additional hotels (different chains), and when we have briefly had to leave the dogs to get food, we have stood outside the door for 20 minutes to see if the dogs barked and they did not! In fact everyone that we told this to ensured us that they would never treat a paying guest in this manner! All of my pets are beloved family members as previously stated but two of them are English bulldogs, AKC registered with champion bloodlines. Male and Female. They not only are my family but they serve as my service dogs for my combined 5 disabilities. These are expensive, highly desirable, and frequently stolen. As most bulldog owners know. With this being said, Rick Schafer we do not believe your story or your intentions towards our dogs. I personally also do not appreciate you walking aggressively towards me as a disabled woman with disrespect and anger saying you wished that we would leave! Also where was your dog when you were so concerned for the Wallace Inn guests as you were putting mine in a locked van? Unattended, off the leash, walking out of the hotel and into the parking lot! How do I know? Because it was standing right next to me as you were loading one of mine into the locked van. It was a yellow lab with a blue collar if I am not mistaken. Dog owners beware! Avoid this place like the plague!! Also the walls are thin, the rooms are dated and smell! read more
