My family is visiting Houston on vacation, and my 8‑year‑old son had a severe allergic reaction--he was struggling to breathe and had hives all over his body. When we arrived at Grace ER, instead of receiving urgent care, the doctor (Dr. H -- didn't catch his full name) told the nurse he wouldn't treat my child because we have TRICARE insurance. What makes this even more frustrating is that Grace ER's own website states: "We are committed to caring for you and will always work with you and adjust our rates accordingly even when you have no insurance." So according to their policy, someone with no insurance would receive care--but a child with TRICARE was refused. In the middle of a medical emergency, his health was dismissed without hesitation. As a military family, this was shocking, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. If you value your safety and your family's well‑being, especially if you're active duty or covered by TRICARE, please stay away from Grace ER.

But in this case, I noticed the Nigerian name and thought this was not the case. Cynthia Obi was my attending physician. She was fantastic! While so many doctors are just legal drug pushers, she knowledgeable, thorough, attentive to detail, and gave a complete description of the problem that was easy to understand. She spoke of recent research (I've never had a doctor speak of that in 64 years) and gave me a plan of action to follow. My ER nurse wife was impressed. I give her 5 stars, and I almost never give 5 stars. She was truly amazing!
