A long, curving water slide, two diving boards and a separate kiddie splash pool provide plenty of options for a wide age range of swimmers. If it feels like you've been to this pool before, that might be because Morristown's Ginty Swim Pool and changing rooms appear to share the same exact layout. (Why build one when you can build two at twice the price!) There's slightly less foliage around the pool, but there are two substantial parking lots on each side of the entrance from Inamere Road. I've been on the GHA swim team for over 10 years and I am now a third year lifeguard here and I absolutely love the vibe and will always cherish the memories and friends I have made over the years. Everyone here knows each other and genuinely cares about one another. All of the lifeguards on staff are friendly and attentive to the people swimming and on top of that we offer free swim lessons to any member who needs them after swim practice a few days a week in July. You can host events here as a member and bring guests when you want to and we have a couple places to eat and grill when you want to. Speaking of which, we have a barbecue club that meets on Fridays with themed dinners and fun music. We also have kids parties and activities, teen nights with waterpolo and "gutterball" tournaments, and we sell ice cream and soda throughout most of the season. If you're still on the fence about joining, you can ask about a trial membership where you can test out the waters for a week and see what you think through experience. There's so much that I can say about this place and so much to enjoy here like the annual clambake, the pond (where I found my love for nature and animals), and the blacktop for playing basketball, volleyball, etc. but I won't spoil all the fun. All I have to say is, it has truly been a pleasure growing up here and meeting my closest friends through the swim team and lifeguarding. Like I said before, it's not perfect, but it wouldn't be our pool if it was. I love this place and the people here, and I wouldn't want this place any other way. :,)

After the class they told me I can longer come here unless I have a paid membership. I have national wide coverage but this YMCA refuses to honor that. I just wanted to take just one class and they said I have to pay full membership. They could still get paid if they went through the insurance. But they rather take money directly from member not understanding seniors are on low income budget. This was very disheartening because I really loved the class. So beware nationwide is not for this particular YMCA.

Everything is clean, well-maintained, and updated. The courses are great, and the teaching staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The Not-So-Great Stuff One other reviewer already mentioned the mystery busses that show up every so often and randomly disgorge mobs of teenage boys at the front door (who in turn fill the fitness room beyond capacity). I once submitted a proposal that the members simply be alerted the day before this happens so that they can plan; I never received an acknowledgement. The facility hosts swim meets, and when that happens you can forget about finding a place to park. I have no idea why they don't direct swim meet vehicles to park in one of the nearby YMCA lots for the day. If you do show up on a swim meet day, be prepared to make a slow Odyssean drive through the various areas of the parking lot before realizing that you won't be working out that day. I don't like that they charge extra for some classes. This place isn't cheap -- you can look up the membership prices on the website. It strikes me as a little mean to charge retirees who just want to learn how to play pickleball an extra $100.

The lesson is short (only 30 minutes) and they keep groups small which I like. There isn't too much attention from instructors though - they mostly tell you what to do, and it's parent led. Since this isn't a private lesson it's expected though. It's nice that they switch up the activities and toys and games that they bring out during class. Good way to keep things interesting when you've been going week after week. It's a nice, clean and spacious swim facility and a perfectly fine place to take beginner lessons.

If they are not liable for the facility, that should not excuse the cancellation of classes without proper resolution. The teacher often arrives late, and again, they claim no liability. Water temperature is inadequate -- still, they take no responsibility. Honestly, it's hard to understand what they are actually accountable for.

The constant turnover meant each lesson restarted from scratch, undermining progress and value. Based on this pattern of cancellations, inexperienced rotating incompetent instructors, and refusal to credit missed sessions, I cannot recommend Starfish.
