I'm so glad I went back on Sunday because I discovered that the whole inside area was NOT just overflow seating, but that there was a dining area and like a buffet-type of area and wine bar area and the kitchen demo area was in there too and another performance area AND a beautiful prayer book store!!!! WHAT!? I had no idea that was all in there so I hope they have that next year - I will explore those areas more! Saturday, I got my favorite Saganaki - flaming cheese!!! and I got the greek chicken dinner that came with greek potatoes and a deliciously light and fresh greek salad! Also got a whipped greek coffee at the coffee bar! New this year: I did get to the upper level retail vendor area and new GROCERY area which was SO delightful and intriguing. I had to look up what some of the items were but it was all very exciting. They had different rusks which - I don't know what those are but I will look into it and hopefully get some next year. They also had a lot of cheeses in the refrigerator and dairy products like lebnah and then a sour cherry drink??!! So next year I will be prepared and try some of those things and bring them home! I was looking for the Moussaka which I tried for the first time last year but I was told that they didn't have it and that they do a skip year or something and that this year they had pastitio instead, so I tried that and it was similar with the meat filling, béchamel and cinnamon and was like a casserole and it was very delicious! Also got another round of the flaming saganaki cheese which is SO good with the greek salad! I love all the social media they did this year for the event on instagram and I had even seen many clips of them on local news on YouTube leading up to the event! Very cool! The elevator had apparently broke on Friday and had trapped someone inside according to one worker. Long lines and high prices for the foods and drinks. Little shade and few places to sit. Then one of the vendors, 2 Greeks, were stealing money from people. They didn't bring change, so if you were paying cash, they would just keep the change. So, very crooked vendors. If you go to this once in a lifetime is enough, but I would recommend just not going. Parking was also not good. We tried to get there early, but they still had church going, so what was supposed to be the handicap lot was full of non-handicap cars. They only good thing I can say about the event was the female head of security was nice.

As good as it gets!" + SPACE: Mile High Station is a great venue for this Fest! It def embodies Colorado. It's a turn of the century steel and ironworks building that has been repurposed into and event space! Love the character. The only drawback here is the parking! The lot is super small. If you have a light-rail station near you I'd say take that to Mile High Stadium and walk over from there. It's not even a ten minute walk. + BREWERS: The line up is always fantastic! Obvs Colorado breweries dominate the show, but there's plenty of others in attendance too! Over the years I have even seen brewers from my hometown in Northern California in attendance. Colorado breweries often include names such as: Denver Beer Co, Stem Ciders, Crooked Stave, Grist, Wild Cider, Ratio Beerworks, Verboten, Weldworks, Strange Craft, Little Machine, Pikes Peak, Oscar Blues, and sooo many more. + FOOD TRUCKS: My personal favorite has been on-site for each Fest to date. Basic Kneads. It's pizza done awesome. Plus The Goods is usually on hand serving up some excellent smoked and grilled meats. Turkey leg anyone? + ENTERTAINMENT: There's a live band for each evening. This year featured Nevermind the 90's and Super Doppler. Usually the band is set up on a stage outside or in a tent area outside (depending on weather). They have speakers set up all around to ensure you can hear the tune regardless of where you are in the venue. + PRICE: At only $35 for general admission and $45 for VIP, I can safely say this is one of the cheapest Fests out there. But don't let the cheap cost fool you. They really deliver! A suggestion I would have for the future would be a two day pass offering. For those who want to check out both days of festivities. I say it's enough to keep me and my friend happy and all our curiosity about a few of the breweries were met. Here you'll be able to talk to the person responsible for the creation of the brew or someone who knows the history of the brew. This two story location can host a bunch of beer loving fun people. The food was hosted in a separate space past the tented area where the live entertainment is located. I had their amazing kielbasa and I'm regretting not asking for the lady's info :( This event has a two tiered ticket pricing. One for the VIP at a discounted rate of $45 if you purchase in advance. $55 at the door the day of. The VIP lets you in an hour early from 6-7. General admission starts at 7pm and will set you back $35 advance purchase and $45 day of. Tip: CASH ONLY AT THE DOOR. Free coat check. Your tix is only good for one day. Want to show up both days? Avery, Breck, Wits end, boulder brew, the list goes on (3 tents full). Some of the standouts - a Colorado Cider Company Lemon Grass cider . . .Paradox brewing barrel aged sour AND IPA. In addition to three large tents full of beer, there were also a handful of tasty food trucks (pizza, tacos, ice cream, etc) to counter the liquid calories. VIP got you in an hour earlier and access to the distillery tent where they were pouring delicious local spirits, experimenting with some cocktail combinations, and also had a VIP-only BBQ tent that was handing out free samples. The venue is very old, I think it's over a hundred years old or something like that, and it shows but I think it adds character. The sound quality there is good for how old it is at least for metal shows. The venue is consistently oversold to the point where the last few shows I went to, I was watching from the entrance area. The smoking area is also way too small. It's always shoulder to shoulder there. The parking there is always a pain. There is street parking but you have to get there at least an hour early to find anything around the venue. Otherwise, you'll be paying an arm and a leg for paid lot parking. This isn't the fault of the venue itself though. I am sure I will be back at the Ogden Theatre and hopefully they make some changes to enhance the show experience.

We've been to the downtown LA one a couple of times and the drill was the same: You start by scanning the QR code and making the initial order, then during the movie you write down your order on the provided pad and pressing the service call button. You have 20 minutes after the movie ends to settle up your bill; after that they will close it out for you with 20% gratuity. We ordered: - Spicy ranch popcorn (spicy! It's a dry powder so I should've gotten some light butter on it to hold the powder to the popcorn--we kept accidentally inhaling it, doh) - Churro crunch popcorn (not too sweet, with slight salty notes that gave it a really nice touch) - Vegan cauliflower bites with celery and fries (the gochujang sauce was a little too sweet and the fries were limp--just meh) - I got a Pilsner, hubby got an IPA The food was just ok but the service and atmosphere were great. The seats weren't THE most comfortable recliners, as they didn't recline quite as much as the AMC chairs we were used to, but they were fine. One of the best things at these theaters is the 15-20 minute montage they show before the movie that's related to the feature--worth getting there early for. Some of the clips they included were really obscure and funny, like the one from the 1960s where Frankenstein goes to college and becomes a party animal, lol.

There were specific areas for the highland games, medieval Scottish lifestyle, lots of girls with bouncy curls and rigid upper bodies dancing, Scottish food, dogs, sheep herding, find your clan, and stuff you don't need to buy tents. Most venues were cash only, they did have 2 ATM machines for those unprepared (including us!). Nessie greets you as you walk in to the park. The midday ceremonies included a parade of dogs (adorable), bands, and clans, which were colorful, loud, and fun. The food was the most disappointing. There's only one tent with subpar options for ~$8-10. The best part of the festival are the whiskey tastings! We got there relatively early and signed up for Ardbeg. Once inside the tent, we were given little crackers, place mats with whiskey, and a walk through. We even got whiskey glasses for souvenirs! I especially loved being surrounded by thick heavy Scottish accents whichever way I turned. I'll be back again next year! Please work on your food options.

As far as Highland Games go, this is a pretty good event. It's well organized, there are a lot of options as far as what to see and do, and it's affordable. Last year they had a parade of classic European cars that was just incredible. And the dancing! You have to go and check out the dancing. It's a great experience, be it for a casual date or a family outing.
