Wound up here after working late in the datacentre down the road, and knew that going to a Christmas party on an empty stomach would lead to a very early night.
So - first things first - the roundabout to get in here requires just a wee bit of concentration. Most people just blaze through it, and if you have to turn to get in to Morrison's, wait for your opportunity. Once you get inside, you'll pass the comparatively cheap gas station, so fill up and avoid higher prices if you're headed back to central London.
The interior of the supermarket itself is very clean, and brightly lit. Feeling famished, I walked along the left aisle and came across Libby in the bakery department. It was late enough in the day that she was putting out half-off stickers on the steak, chicken, and sausage pies, which I happily took advantage of. She also took pity on this lost traveler and walked me down to the beverages, helping me get set up for an impromptu dinner while I drove the hour back to Canary Wharf.
Super-friendly staff were also found at the self-checkout area, where I wound up sheepishly apologizing to the customer agent overlooking the consoles, as my US-based credit card required a signature even though it had a chip in it.
Genuinely nice staff in a well-stocked supermarket, which led to a dinner on the go for me? Much as I'd have preferred a sit-down lunch/dinner, this ended up working quite nicely for me. read more
