I ran my own business before becoming disabled; I would have had NO CLIENTS if I talked to my clients the way these people talked to theirs when they had their storefront up in MP.. MY FATHER WAS DYING! and he sent my mom and me roses, separately; Conroy's forgot mine. They didn't want to deliver just mine and gave me so much grief, I started crying. I told them this was going to be my last Valentine's with my dad, that's why he had someone order us flowers. They FINALLY delivered mine, and SPELLED MY DAD'S NAME WRONG ON THE CARD. When I called to ask for a card with the CORRECT name, they told me NO, I can write it myself. So my last rose ever from my father had a card WRITTEN BY ME. Fast forward to Saturday, two days ago, when I went to order flowers for my mom's 76th birthday. Conroy's is now the only florist around, and I thought, NO WAY, so went online and found AVAS. They had mostly 5 Star reviews (turns out that's because they screen their reviews...) They promised morning delivery because my mom was going out and I'm disabled and cannot open the door. At 11:30am I called and was told by the 2nd AVAS Rep, that the flowers would get there by 7pm! My mom was going out...I was promised between 9:30am and noon delivery. My mom was going out at 12:15pm. She wound up changing her birthday lunch date until 2:30pm, waiting for the flowers... My mom got a call from MORRIS PLAINS FLORIST asking for directions. My mom asked me if "that was the big birthday surprise-- flowers". I said no, (because I didn't order from Morris Plains Florist. Never heard of it. Wasn't listed online). I knew their storefront had closed and a local businessman told me they moved to a place that's more of a wholesale place that did weddings and was a tuxedo shop. He didn't know of a florist in town. The flower arrangement I ordered for my mom arrived around 1pm. My mom said she loved it. Then she was sneezing and I asked her to show me the arrangement: there were specifically no flowers she was allergic to in the arrangement I had ordered (I told the AVAS Customer Service Rep she was allergic to certain flowers). I saw the order and my heart dropped. I was so excited about this order. I went all out on her birthday to make it extra special and when I saw the arrangement, it was not even REMOTELY what I ordered, and not nearly as big...I showed my mom the photo of what I ordered, and she said, "NOW I understand why you're upset! This is NOTHING like that arrangement. The one you ordered is beautiful! Stunning colors!" I spent $91.00 and the arrangement my mom received was only HALF the size as the one in the photo, was missing most of the flowers that were SUPPOSED to be in the order, and instead of beautiful small yellow daisies, there were yellow weeds (I worked in a flower store) that made my mom sneeze for an hour. Two roses missing. Roses already fully open, some flowers wilting. Some petals falling off already. No lovely delicate blue flowers. I ordered this beautiful arrangement with my mom's favorite flowers... they weren't in the arrangement, besides two tiger lily stems. The "bow" was a joke. I told my mom, "THIS is the 'beautiful matching bow' I paid for?" My mom said, "Where's the bow?" You couldn't even tell it was a bow It was the tiniest piece of hay wrapped around the vase and tied like a shoelace. The ribbon used on the mylar balloon didn't even remotely match the arrangement. Look at the two photos. My mom had to throw out the yellow weeds because they gave her hay fever. I DISGRACEFUL. I've already contacted my credit card regarding AVAS (that's a different review). I'm not paying for this arrangement; if Conroy's didn't have the flowers to fulfill this order they should have told AVAS! I worked in my aunt's flower store... this arrangement would have been returned immediately because it's nothing like what was ordered, and mostly filler. Plus it's small, and I specifically didn't want dark, fall colors because my mom is grieving. I picked something that would cheer her up. I will never use Conroy's again (that was a given before). If I ever had any reservation before, THIS just proves that they don't care. Ruin someone's birthday surprise? Dad dying? They don't care. If I had known AVAS was going to farm out the job to Conroy's, I would have asked a friend to pick up a couple bunches of Gerbera Daisies at a local supermarket. I'll never use AVAS again. As far as Conroy's, it's sad, really. Six years and nothing's changed.

I'm still scratching my head over the experience I had at Elliott's Flower Shoppe, this past…read moreSaturday morning. I am planning my second wedding, and saw in their window, a sign that read DIY Weddings. Well, I had already planned to do my own table arrangements and had, in fact, already bought 16 vases. So, I thought... this is GREAT! We can discuss flowers, maybe they can help me do a trial arrangement, then I'll place an order for a large quantity of flowers for the day before my wedding (nice sale for Elliott's... in addition to a few corsages, a few boutonnieres, a bouquet for me - in other words.. dropping a few bills, easily) They aren't open any evening, and they did not respond to an email I had sent weeks ago, so I had this saturday morning free to drop in. I brought a vase with me, and a small notebook... I was ready to work. But, no..... the woman at the shop wouldn't help me, because I didn't have an appointment. She said, and I quote, "I can't help you right now because I have to help other customers and answer the phone". She mentioned this on more than one occasion, during the 10 minutes I was in the store. When she first mentioned it, I said I understood... and of course she should help other customers and answer the phone... I'll wait. The second time, I thought to myself.... but there ARE no other customers and the phone hasn't rung. And, I AM a potentially GOOD CUSTOMER with MONEY TO SPEND! This woman clearly did not want to work with me at all, discuss flowers or prices, offer me any insight as to what might be a good option for my vases. She pointed to a desk and suggested I look through a few catalogs of wedding arrangements. That was the help she offered. I would expect she'd ask me things like, what time of day is the wedding, is it casual or formal, what do you envision... nothing like that, at all. So disgusted with this place. You try to shop locally. I'm a Morristown resident and WANT to support our local businesses. But, clearly this place is not interested in that, which is disappointing, to say the least.

Having had a sheet of ice smash through my windshield (before there was a law), it's irksome to see people unaware and unconcerned about the safety of others.
