Mortimer's Marine Ltd. -- known more affectionately as Mortimer's Point -- is one of my favorite marinas on the Lakes because of the following: 1) They sell bulk candy, all of it gummy. I absolutely cannot resist gummy candy, especially if you make it sour and coat it in sugar. Pick up a brown paper bag (reminiscent of school lunches all those many years ago), a pair of miniature tongs, and go to town. Keep track of the number you put in your sack (they're $0.05 apiece), tell the cashier and pay, and you're on your way to a candy coma. 2) There's an old-fashioned Esso sign hanging out in the middle of the Lake, letting you know Mortimer's point is up around the bend. I *love* this Esso sign, all by its lonesome in the middle of the water. I think I have more pictures of *it* than of the family up there. 3) MP doubles as an "airport." Meaning, this is where the rich folk from Toronto (who aren't rich enough to have a seaplane garage at their cottage) land and store their seaplanes. So there's always several moored at Mortimer's. We like to eyeball them whenever we're gassing up the boat. The novelty of a seaplane really never wears off... 4) There never seem to be any adults around. It's like this place is run entirely by children and teens. It gives you an oddly exciting, "Children of the Corn" adrenaline rush. And when you push off the dock to leave, you kind of feel a sense of relief that you didn't fall victim to He Who Walks Behind the Rows. read more

Great marina, friendly, knowledgeable! The best dock yoga. All the gifts and sweaters you can buy in the little store are so cute.

There is a massive rock when you pull into the marina which is not marked. Multiple boats hit it regularly and get severely damaged but the team at the marina is so helpful every time it happens and have communicated the problem to the city counsel numerous times but the city refuses to do anything about it. read more

I purchased a boat over the winter which the previous owner stored, prepaid, at Mortimer's Marina. I was eager to understand how to collect the boat. After many tries by phone, I reached a person who said 'Don't call on a Friday expecting the boat on a weekend'. I accepted that and accordingly I called on a late June Tuesday hoping to send for my boat. No answer but I did leave voicemail. Called Wednesday more voicemail. Called Thursday, voicemail full. I got a call Friday night saying 'Sorry I was away'. What Marina operator goes away at the end of June? Eventually I was able to collect the boat a week from the following Tuesday. The marina guy said 'We'll clean the boat before we put it in the water'. That didn't happen. We're now cleaning the boat, scrubbing the hull, getting at the mould in the cup-holders, etc. Cleaning the boat was one of the things that was prepaid. Our experience was just horses**t. Wow. Random cottager called in for supports. Arranged transport with this company. Kid couldn't drive the boat. Kept stalling. Couldn't find the cottage - which was their client. Over an hour on the lake trying random places. Bill the customer. Jay lies to the customer saying that didn't occur, despite a text message. Indicates I through him under the bus! Umm. No you costed my five hours of labour not the marina nor the client were at all accountable. The kept wife reiterated over and over that shouldn't take that long. All and all the client is probably the liar but this marina is beyond incompetent. The entitled cottager probably won't pay a cent. The end. read more

We have been customers of Mortimer's Marine for over 40 years. Always a friendly face, a caring person, ready to assist you in any way. There may be bigger and fancier marinas on the lake, but I don't think any that are friendlier. I'd recommend them to anyone. read more
