Get past the lifejackets stacked in the corner of the store and the general disorganized feeling and you'll find that this place has a lot of options for boaters, including several types of boats (with variable speeds) that can be rented out. My group ended up settling for a 15-horsepower boat that cost us $80 for the day plus gas charges. Luckily, they'll refund a portion of the gas charge based on what you have left at the end of the day. This is a very laid-back place. The owner's dog saunters around and sees visitors off in the boat (by sitting at the end of the dock), and we had some old (very old) paddles in the boat that we attempted to use to row (to no avail). The boats get you to where you need to go and the general experience is very good. The owner gave my group a short lesson on how to use the boat (one of my friends had boating experience and knew how to operate one), which was appreciated. Sturgeon Bay Marine is a great place to rent a boat if you don't have any other options.

Walkers Point -- aside from being one of the more well-established and full-service on the lakes -- is conveniently located for trips in and out of Gravenhurst. Aside from fuel, WP offers new and used boat sales in a beautiful showroom that's dangerous fun to browse, service and parts, boat supplies from bumpers to navigation lights, water sport supplies like kayaks and wake boards, cottage indulgences such as Aqua Lily Pads and water trampolines, snacks, coffee, and wifi. Yup, you could hang out in the bow of a Cobalt Facebooking friends and enjoying a cappuccino if you were so inclined. One day I just may try it and see what happens.

The staff a great at training and put in enough time to teach you how to handle the houseboat. They provide a service line if you need it and always have someone there to answer questions. I went in late May where the whether was ok but very quiet in the late spring so no issues with busy locks or too many boaters in the water. Got a chance to see their luxury boats and it's like a floating hotel. Can't wait to go back. Highlights of the trip were Boyd island, Bobcaygeon, Lower Buckhorn lake, Wolfe Island and Lovesick lock.

Now they recognize us when we come to refuel, ask how the boat's running, and keep an account in our name where we can charge things like gas, water toys and bumpers (sometimes they go missing from the boat, what can I say?).
