We drop by Moscarillo's several times each year, sometimes finding what we want at the right price, sometimes not so much. This year not so much. A couple of things about this garden shop. First, it's much larger than you might think from the road. There are lots and lots of flowers, veggies and other garden items; no quarreling over the choices to be found here. And for the most part the staff has proven helpful. Mostly. Our main issue is over the prices -- this is not a shop for anyone operating on a budget. And in the spring of 2024, it's pretty expensive here to buy potting plants, perennials, hanging baskets, fertilizer, potting soil, vegetables and the like. You may legitimately argue over whether the likes of Home Depot and Lowes can match the quality here, but they certainly do better when it comes to pricing. Check it out -- you may disagree. But at least you have been cautioned. read more

We stopped in the Moscarillo's Torrington nursery just because we happened to be driving by on our way home from visiting White Flower Farm in the Litchfield area. What a pleasant surprise! This place is a lot bigger than it looks. We found the very hard to find Donkey Tail or Burrito succulents! We bought 2 of those, a String of Teardrop, and a tiny String of Pearls. I also found the most beautiful rain gauge there. They had a really nice selection of all landscaping plants and flowers, even a nice sized selection of houseplants. Everything in this store is well taken care of and healthy. Lastly, the prices were very reasonable. I can highly recommend this place. read more

I was disappointed with my first experience of this business, despite it being recommended to me by friends and family. I was the only customer there but the two associates sat on their phones at the cashier's desk while I struggled to get a midsized terra cotta pot off of the shelf because they have them stacked too high up for short people. I wish I could have blamed it on them not knowing I was there but I walked by and said hello first and those pots are in view of the counter. That's fine, not that big of a deal. But when I asked about products for helping my aloe vera plant with root rot, thinking there might be a special rejuvenating fertilizer or spray for the roots or something, unfortunately, the employee I asked continued to sit on the bench, stare at her clipboard, and repeat her same answer of buy a smaller pot and buy cactus dirt to me as if I should have known this. I was trying to be as pleasant of a patron as I could because I know what it's like to work in customer service, perhaps there was a disability I was unaware of, but the whole experience for my first time there looking for help was kind of off-putting as she wouldn't even look at me. read more

Brilliant, beautiful bouquets! I've ordered several bouquets over the years from Mascarillo's and the last one, order for same day delivery, was simply astounding! Artfully arranged in what was simply the largest glass vase I've ever seen where TREMENDOUSLY HUGE roses! I have never seen anything like them! And they lasted several weeks, giving a beautiful centerpiece to our dining room table long after the birthday celebrations were done. :) read more

My husband orders flower arrangements through Moscarillo's a few times a year and I sometimes drop in to purchase items from their greenhouse/ store. We both have had very positive experiences! My husband receives abundant and friendly help whenever he orders bouquets. I have asked employees for help in the store and they have always been friendly and helpful. The bouquets we receive last a very long time, are absolutely beautiful and of good quality. The people who deliver the flowers are always friendly. read more

They have a great selection of healthy annuals, perennials, and house plants, also landscape plants and trees. They also have garden tchotchkes, fertilizers, planters, etc. Prices are not cheap ,but I find with plants you often get what you pay for. read more

I ordered flowers online for a funeral to be delivered to a local funeral home in Torrington. I was very disappointed and embarrased by the arrangement thar was delivered. The arrangement was supposed to have 17 stems of cala lillies and roses. The picture of what was ent says it all. I immediately called and sent two emails including a picture.three days later i did not hear back. When i called again, I was told that the owner needed to get involved. The website says customer satifaction is a priority. Not true. Finally did get a refund to my credit card one week later read more

I have not been to this florist in person, but I needed to send some flowers for Mother's birthday. Easy online ordering system, flowers arrived on time, fresh, and looked quite similar to online example. Delivery costs are quite reasonable as well. We ordered an arrangement for a funeral at the shop. We were able to look through various pictures of arrangements and the staff told us if those flowers were in season. Based on the information we were given we were able to order exactly what they knew they would have to work with. It came out beautiful. I would recommend you call or go into the shop if you want your arrangement to come out exactly as you want it. Ordering quickly online isn't always the best way to do that. Sue read more

They forgot to make my flowers for my wedding day. When a family member went to pick them up they told us they were for the following day- but the paper in front of them had the correct date. In addition we confirmed pick up about 3 days prior so there was no excuse . They rushed to make them - and dropped them off . They added colors I didn't ask for (I specifically asked for 2 colors ONLY in ALL the items ) and most of the boutonnières were falling apart (the petals) and We're all the way open - they looked awful. They never called to apologize or make it right either. I'll never go here again. read more

Moscarillo's is so nice. They have 2 indoor plant greenhouses as well as a few outdoor ones. I was able to find a few rare houseplants I was looking for, one of which someone working there was nice enough to switch out of a pre made planted flower arrangement, I was very happy! read more

Their greenhouse is pretty nice, and as low-rent as it sounds, I enjoy coming here just to walk through the scenery, especially in the winter. I wish Torrington had a proper greenhouse... read more

Why do you work in a flower shop, and not know your plants.Picked uo a plant in the greenhouse I liked with No id tag, asked 2 employees if they knew what the name of the plant was and needed care, They both said they did not know, finally found a young lady(she has been there a while) she not only id the plant but told me about it and its care, I wish I knew her name, so could compliment her more. She is very knowledgeable and knows her plants.Now I always look for her and ask her my needed questions, The other 2 ladies were not at all interested in helping me or guiding me in the right direction. They need to get another job, and the young lady aught to get a huge raise and promotion. read more

Our family has been doing business with Moscarillo's for over 50 years, however, after ordering flowers for my parents 54th wedding anniversary, we will be taking our business elsewhere. The mistake I made was not going through FTD. I saw a beautiful arrangement on the FTD site, which Moscarillo's participates with. I called Moscarillo's directly to place the order, however, what my parents received is not what I ordered. Gina, the floral manager was totally unprofessional in her manner of handling the situation. I contacted FTD and learned some interesting facts. Placing an order with FTD will guarantee that if you have any issues with what was sent, they will correct the problem with the florist. There is a recipe that all Florist receive regarding stem count and flowers to be used in arrangements, and lastly, FTD guarantees the arrangements will last 7 days. Gina did send over another arrangement, this time putting in the roses that were suppose to be in the original order, however sent over a less than fresh arrangement.When I called Gina again with my disappointment of the quality of the flowers, she was unacceptably rude and hung up the phone on me. Unfortunately I used my debit card as opposed to a credit card. It was too much of an inconvenience to put a stop payment on the charge. A reviewer also ordered an arrangement from out of town, and ended up with something different; was it worth the same price of what she thought she was sending? A word to the wise, PLACE YOUR ORDER THROUGH FTD DIRECTLY---avoid the rudeness and get exactly what you pay for. I for one, will no longer be doing business with Moscarillo's read more
