They have a large selection of young trees and plants you would expect to find. We purchased a medium monstera, a baby snake plant, and a small jade plant. The owners were both there and very friendly and each had a different knowledge/specialty set. The biggest surprise was finding a rare horsefly eating plant! I may have to go back and get him another time.

It was my first visit, and I was amazed at the thousands of varieties of stunningly colorful annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, and more. Rows and Rows of beautiful flowers everywhere. We ended up buying four flats of pretty pink and purple perennials @ $2.95/flat. The Raspberry Parfait Dianthus will really beautify our mailbox. They also have a store with all sorts of home decor and furnishings. Note that Coward Farms is open during the year in three distinct time periods - Spring from May 1st - July 3rd, Fall from Sept. 1st - Oct. 31st and Christmas -starting the Friday after Thanksgiving.

I received a dump truck load of compost filled with gravel! It is unusable, and I can't return it…read moresince I didn't report it for three days. The limit is two. It was raining, and so I wasn't working in the yard. I assume that the dump truck bed was not clean when they loaded it, but they offered no explanation. I was told, "no, it should not have rocks in it". The kind man who took my call assured me that the manager/owner would call me back to discuss it. No call. No concern. I have been a repeat customer, but no more. Beware, if you buy any dump truck load of anything from The Stockyard in Torrington, CT. Inspect it before the driver leaves. Extremely disappointed with their customer service and care. Extremely disappointed with the quality of their compost!

There were a wide variety of colorful flowers, all so pretty. There is a small parking lot and great farm stand. They had drinks, candy, soaps, meats, produce, and more. I also purchased some soaps and candies. The people working there were friendly. It's definitely worth a visit!

My Fantasy hydrangea arrived completely dehydrated and wilted due to an eight day UPS shipping experience from this company to the West Coast. The leaves were completely droopy and it was in very poor health. I have been nursing it back to health for a month now. All the canes are dead and new growth is finally emerging at the base after a lot of TLC. This company needs to switch to FedEx as their carrier and not use UPS, especially for longer transit. I never have this issue with Garden Crossings for my orders because they use FedEx 2-3 day. Everything arrives perfect from them.
