My son and his wife just had a baby at Moses Taylor that was scheduled to be done at General but they closed the delivery ward that day with no notice at all. Well that was a blessing in disguise. They have had a great experience with all the staff and doctors. The nurses are unbelievably nice, kind and helpful. I can't say enough about how well they treated my first grandson. The hospital is clean and seems to have adequate equipment. However, there is a complete lack of respect and unprofessional behavior from entire staff. My 90 y/o father is in for pneumonia and heart failure. He wanted to get up and walk about 20 feet to move around and get out of the bed. So I asked the nurse if someone could help him...simple request. Well she snapped, I don't have a walker, do you? Shocked I said, no, but there must be someone who could help him move around a bit. She said, "You can help him"! So, I walked to the front desk and the nurse who gave him physical therapy was sitting and looking at the computer. I asked her, can you help me get an orderly or a CNA to help my dad get up and walk a few feet to get his circulation moving? And she said, "Well, I do not have enough walkers to just leave spare ones in each room. And we do not have time, so no, I cannot help you." In addition, the woman in the next room was screaming in pain until they decides to check on her about 20 minutes after she started screaming. The treatment was disgusting, the care is subpar and they should be closed. After being in Jefferson and U Penn, it was shockingly bad. read more

Horrible treatment of a young man who was bleeding internally. They didn't like him so they put him out on the sidewalk where he passed out. Those so called edumacated doctor and nurses belong in a factory and not a hospital. read more

Heaven forbid you end up in their ER. My son and his girlfriend ended up here for a car accident. Girlfriend sent home with broken thumb...they didn't know it was broken on the Xray, and glass all over her face. Had to request washcloths so she could wash her face and get the glass off. Son hurt he knee, which ended up needing surgery, they sent him on his way without crutches to walk on. Wonder if he did more damage by not having crutches? Then on to my visit to the same ER, insurance refuses to pay the physician's portion of the bill. Call the patient advocate requesting help, she states she will call me back after our first conversation, which she never did. This for profit facility does not care about the patients. read more

I was there last year sep 2017- pregnant with my baby boy. I have nothing to say but wonderful things about the maternity ward, every single nurse was patient, careful, attentive and caring! They answered all my questions and concerns, never felt alone or rushed. Thank you Moses Taylor! read more

Worst experience in an ER ever!! I will NEVER ever go there again. I called the patient advocate to complain of our treatment...I have no idea what impact it will have but I felt compelled to do something. I brought my elderly mother there who was barely able to walk because of pain. They asked us what we wanted them to do???!!! Than you PA Leah. Told there wasn't a wheelchair to help her get to the restroom during our 4 hour ordeal...I helped her get there. We were disrespected, and received poor care and discharged without reviewing the instructions on follow-up instructions, again, thanks PA Leah. I have the unsigned paperwork...She was eventually found to have a fracture in her spine. Thanks for finding the wheelchair nurse Dorothy. Also, thanks for not leaving my mother in the waiting room if I did not get my car to the patient ER pick-up right away nurse Dorothy ... I had a family member hospitalized here. Her first trip to the ED they sent her home on inappropriate treatment that likely made her condition deteriorate. On the second trip they reluctantly admitted her to the hospital for further work up. She repeatedly asked for the attending or resident physician to contact me in regards to her treatment plan. I also called and left my number asking for more information. My family member was discharged and the primary team never called, even though they were asked to on multiple occasions to call by the patient because there were serious concerns regarding her course of treatment. Overall very poor patient care and very questionable medical practices. read more

The emergency department has a lot of flaws. No respect for Hippa. My experience was so poor we left to go to Geisinger, since all confidence in the medical staff's ability was lost. I now understand why Geisinger has become a leader to this area. We are finally getting a higher standard. The emergency section of Moses Taylor hospital needs to be re-examined by the state. The medical staff need to be retrained. I do want to make note that i was there on a Saturday, in the evening. I can't say how efficient they are Monday through Friday. I make this a notation because it is possible that they just have a poor weekend staff. read more

I've had to go to the Er 3x this past year. One time I needed emergency abdominal surgery , a slight issue a month later , and today for spraining my back when I missed a step. Wait times are short , staff and doctors are awesome. Best ER around , I wouldn't go anywhere else. My daughter will be giving birth there next June she also wont go anywhere besides Moses Taylor. You guys do an awesome job. read more

I was impressed with the level of attention and quick service at the ER on Wednesday night 8/14/2019. My wife's nurse took charge and got her symptoms. They got the IV connected, took blood and hooked her up to saline for de-hydration. Dr. David P. was excellent. The Staff handles many patients, including some who were difficult. read more

I have had two short procedure surgeries at Moses-Taylor. Both times the nurses and everyone else was so nice, accommodating and friendly!! Even going in for presurgery testing, they were quick and efficient, and of course so friendly!! read more

The complete lack of respect and unprofessional nature of the entire staff is astounding. I am shocked and saddened by the way this hospital and especially the emergency room, is ran. A young girl was ran in by her Father, doubled over in pain and puking. This young girl sat in the waiting room screaming and puking. Not. A. Soul came to help her. Unreal. Take the extra 15 minute ride and go to Geisinger Wyoming Valley and save yourself from a torture chamber. Geisinger was like a trip to Disney World in comparison. Moses Taylor attempted to do unnecessary procedures on my 3 year old and the nurses were mean and incompetent. They left a bowl of vomit in our room for over 24 hours, we had no toilet paper, and they almost overdosed my child on medication. When my daughter vomited, the nurses would not change her sheets. There was no staff available when the emergency button was pressed and we waited 30 minutes before a nurse came into our room. The food was disgusting and inedible, they "ran out" of bottled water, and the staff was downright nasty. In particular, a nurse who claimed to have been there for 18 years. She was rude, sarcastic, and deliberately rough to myself and my family after my 3 year old was admitted. This hospital repeatedly attempted to perform unnecessary and invasive procedures despite having alternative less invasive measures (catheter vs. sterile cup). The pediatrician never looked at my daughter's chart before discharging her and commented on her sugar level & bloodwork although I had declined all tests that day. I wouldn't return if it was the last hospital on earth. I ended up denying all medical treatment from staff and nursed my child back to health myself while staying in their dirty room to be monitored. read more

Nurse calling you in...well let me tell you...she looks like she got ran over by a reindeer...well ...let's not comment on appearance since I look a mess most of the time...but damn she was cold...cold like death like her appearance..ok that was mean...but her personality matched her appearance well.. so let's give her one star for matching that well! Then forget about the uncompassionate obviously over tired unfed so called 90lb doc..that certainly doesn't want to hear why you are there... Worst hospital ever. Wish I could give it 0 stars. Last year I walked into the E.R. , I was bleeding heavily while in my first trimester. I ended up waiting two hours to get a room, and another hour and a half before I got sick of waiting for a doctor and just left. I received a call today from a debt collectors telling me that although I never saw a doctor I am still responsible for paying for triage services. Long story short: if you need immediate care do not go here! read more

My doctor sent my blood for testing to this hospital. It was nothing more than a cholesterol profile and I was charged 900 dollars. My insurance paid 700 dollars and I was responsible for the 200-dollar difference. Other labs in the area do not charge this much for simple blood work. This hospital should be investigated for excessive overcharging. read more

I went to the ER at Moses Taylor the other day due to flu-like symptoms, and since I am pregnant, I was concerned. I have never had a problem with this hospital, but the way they handled things, I believe was very unprofessional. First, the nurse, told me I absolutely had to take a urine test, which is fine, I would've complied with anything as long as it helped me get better. I told her I didn't have to urinate at that moment, so I asked if I could get a cup of water. One because I was burning up with a fever and very thirsty, Two because I am pregnant, and Three because I had to take the urine test. She ignored my request for water and said "just take your time, we're not in a hurry." I took the urine test and she never even came back for it! I had to tell the nurse who discharged me that it was still sitting on there counter. My nose was swabbed twice because there was no communication. The doctor tried to discharge me without even telling me whether or not I had the flu. I had to ask, them some random nurse from the hallway told us it came back negative. She wasn't even in my room at all. I don't recommend this ER. read more

The way I felt after leaving the department to test fetal movement was horrible. The tech talk to me like I was unable to understand or even hear anything. This was my third child, think I know what i'm going thru at the time. Because of this I went on to refuse to have that test done again at least 2 times. The friend that was with me felt the same way. DISREPECT all the way. read more

I can not express my gratitude enough for this hospital. The staff is so friendly and go above and beyond for their patients. They do their absolute best to make sure you are comfortable and well taken care of. My grandfather was in ICU here and each nurse/doctor treated him if he was their own grandfather. I was so impressed and so thankful for their gratitude. The food is actually pretty good also, considering it is a hospital. It also is extremely clean. read more

The only reason this dump gets one star is because its not possible for me to put 0 stars. My son was born here not long ago. What was supposed to be one of the greatest two-three days of my wife and my lives turned unnecessarily stressful. First, it took the fools in the delivery room over 3 1/2 hours to give my wife her epidural. She asked for it at 6 cm because she was in the midst of a very painful back labor. Her pain was so severe that she turned pale white and began crying in pain (which is something I have never seen her do in over 13 years of being together, even in her precious delivery of our daughter). It was then that I went to the front desk and told them I was done playing nice and asking kindly. Once I got gruff, which I should not have had to do because it took focus off helping my wife, they finally decided to send some one up to do it. Also, while her delivery doctor, Dr. Tomassoni, was amazing and an incredibly positive help to us both; the delivery nurse helping her was anything but.I uunderstand the pressure of the job, but I sure didn't appreciate essentially being told to shut up while I was encouraging my wife and coaching her. Nor did I appreciate the off the cuff and flippant breastfeeding comment another of the nurses made after my son was born. Also, don't even get me going on the nursery. My wife had a mosquito bite on her leg, which led to the idiots in the post partum unit quarantining our room without notifying us first and acting like we all had some kind of communicable diseases. It really sat well with me when Nicole in the day care, who should invest a little less of her salary on fake nails and more on buying a personality, stripped my son in the hallway and made comments such as "what do you want??" every time I would attempt to bring my son in there so my wife and I could catch 10 minutes of sleep. While some of the nurses and aides there were good, by and large the experience was extremely undesirable. To put it in a nutshell, even if I were still in Scranton; which mercifully we aren't, I would sooner go without hospital care than go back to Moses Taylor. As for delivering another of my children? I'd go with Dr. Tomassoni again in a heartbeat, but if it had to be done at Moses Taylor, I'd rather have them born at home than there. Like I said to start, if I could give less than one star, I would. read more

I had my elderly parents four times to this hospital in the last three years for various illnesses from surgeries to cancer. We have been on the second and fourth floors. The doctors are the best. The nurses are terrible. All shifts of the nursing staff were very incompetent. I spent alot of time there because I was actually worried about their health as they were already in compromised situations. There were times when a nurse did not visit the room for almost three hours and that was during the day shift. There were alot of mistakes. The hourly rounding chart in the room that the nurses are supposed to check whenever they come in the room is a joke! Most of the rooms were empty and there was a lot of personal chatting going on. I don't know if its the nursing education in general or just this hospital. I wouldn't even want to take my pets here. I found the aides to be more compassionate and knowledgeable. On a side note, even the aides think the nurses are incompetent. read more

JP is 100% correct. This place is a dump! If I could give 0 stars, I would!! I gave birth to my first child 6 months ago at Moses. The staff was incompetent and rude. They are clearly overworked and underpaid. However, I am a healthcare professional, and I have been overworked and underpaid but I never took it out on my patients. If the staff had a shred of professionalism, they would do the same. My husband and I were treated with little to no respect during our stay there. Long story short, my OB was an idiot and told me that my contractions were Braxton-Hicks and to come into his office the next day. Being that I was 1 month early and a first timer, I listened. 5 hours later, my husband was rushing me to ER and I gave birth. I got there during the nurses shift change. So, I was forgotten about. No pain meds. No food. No water! For HOURS after giving birth with NO epidural!! Because I was rushed in, the staff assumed we were irresponsible idiots. If they asked, I could've explained. Because of my work, I am familiar with lab values and charting. The nurses NEED to be either tested or given some serious continuing education. As soon as I started asking questions, the lines of communication were cut. They didn't want to answer any questions and when they did, the answers were incorrect or wishy washy. In medicine, wishy washy answers are unacceptable. That says to me..They don't know what they are doing. So, after pushing a baby out, without sleep, meds or food, I was up at the nurses station yelling because they were taking my baby to do tests and labs without my knowledge. When I would ask why they were taking her, they would say.. I'm not sure? When I would ask for test results, they would push me off. When I would ask for explanations for certain testing, I would get... Idk?! This is unacceptable! After seeing how we were being treated, I asked to see my chart and my baby's chart. They refused! I actually had to ask a friend that works there to get the charts for me without the nurses knowledge. Needless to say, I didn't like what I read. Their charting practices are extremely unprofessional!! Neither myself or my family will ever set foot in that hospital again! The place should be shut down!! read more
