Up until meeting Ms. Vance I walked the proverbial "Green-Mile" of outcomes most fathers face when dealing with matters of custody and divorce. It is difficult to describe the daily loss of hope I experienced in effort untangle myself from false accusations and cunning manipulations from my former wife. My experience prior to meeting Ms. Vance was at best a controlled demolition of my paternal rights, coupled with further costly court interventions that could have been avoided with an aggressive legal advocacy. Despite a multitude of violations made by my exwife, I found myself facing an inevitable landscape strewn with bleached corpses of fathers who had to succumb to the assembly-line system before me. It was an " inevitable" I had been subtlety encouraged to accept supported by comments, " the system is antiquated and needs updating, the courts will often favor the mothers unless they do something really bad, all depends on what judge you get." One of my now routine home rants connected with my daughter's lawyer friend who suggested Ms. Lisa Vance as the only family attorney he would trust in San Antonio. My initial meeting with Ms. Vance immediately instilled a high level of confidence in an individual who is anything but assembly-line or cookie cutter. Her office-setting matches her persona; warm, inviting, casual, friendly, and genuine. Communication with the attorney himself is limited and managed by his paralegal. Tammy was professional and responsive, however when speaking to Jesus himself he seemed unfamiliar with my case. He never gave me the feeling he cared and appeared to be content with whatever the "norm" for the state was vs. fighting for my rights as a father. This day I had a consultation with him went over all my documents told him how bad of an experience I was having with a previous attorney, not being aggressive and moving my case forward Mr. Briones's talked a real big game about how he's gonna be aggressive and get these motions filed for the enforcement get a temporary hearing order filed and he would have this case closed out within 45 days.. we are now going into February. We have not had a temporary order filed. I had to draft up my own enforcement, my own subpoena for phone records for hospital records, all of which were provided to him, and still not filed .on the day that the opposing council reaches out to him in a matter regarding their issues Mr. Briones decides he wants to file an enforcement for me Jan 20 2026 which I advised him was completed wrong and was missing over 15 of the violations that needed to be included. Mr. Briones refused to amend the petition to the correct filing. when it was time to do discovery, Mr. Briones's forward me the opposing parties email and did not explain anything to me what it was that I was answering what was expected of me to answer what my rights were to avoid answering some questions that were invasive and inappropriate, and not required to be answered instead continue to direct me to his paralegal in which eight out of the 10 times I could never get a hold of. when we finally get a moment to go over the discovery, Mr. Briones decided to bill me for his hourly rate and not the paralegals who was the one actively working on the paperwork. Mr. Briones's did not meet deadlines. I had to send four emails three phone calls to his office to know when the deadline for the discovery was due with no answer. This led to the deadline, not being met and following nearly 30 days behind because of his incompetence. He sent over discovery to the opposing council without any signatures or my approval, then reached out to me for my signature and my approval all which is recorded to show that he and his staff did not have the required signatures needed prior to sending any documents to the opposing council. if you are fighting for custody of your children dealing with Cps matters, this is not the Attorney for you stay so far away from this man cause every phone call you receive from him. Will be one asking you for more money despite having written contracts put into place with set payment plans. please read all reviews to include the -ones and trust that those are the accurate description of this con man. If I went two weeks with out checking in, nothing would get done. And of course every email is a cost. Took almost five months and 6k just to get mediation that was agreed upon, there was no fight. Just took that long for them to file things. They made three mistakes and corrected them but we were billed for each one. I spent four weeks arguing to have that credited back, because how fair is it to pay twice for one service. It was not pleasant. Is there knowledge there yes. But I truly believe they had too much on their plates while we were with them. Because we did not feel like we got the best service. We will need an attorney next year but I can assure you we will shop around better.
