Mosquito Squad used to be good- SEVERAL YEARS AGO. We have had them spray at least 5 summers, but the last two have gotten bad. We consider this service a 'splurge' because it is costly and we really don't have the extra money for this, but we like being outside in the summer. It used to be worth it. It has gone downhill in the past few years, but this year is exceptionally poor. I wish there was a way to upload a video instead of a picture on here. We have had two sprays so far. The first one was a Thursday before my son's graduation party on Saturday at the end of May. There was no discernible difference in the amount of mosquitoes . The mosquitoes were so bad that everyone was miserable and complained. It was a huge disappointment, so we called in and they sent someone for a 'free re-spray' telling us how BAD the mosquitoes are this year. They came out and sprayed and the mosquitoes were gone. Weird. The next treatment was yesterday. i watched the guy spray from my window and he barely put any down. They didnt even come NEAR the house. I emailed them immediately after the truck left because they said they used 8 gallons, and the guy never re-filled his tank. I got a long voice message about how they DID spray and that mosquitoes are so terrible this year because of the humidity. a) although the mosquitoes are bad here, I have seen them worse. The spraying used to mean that I saw no mosquitoes until a day or two before the next spray. b) it has been the driest summer i can remember in the 16 years we have been here, so that is no excuse for the amount of mosquitoes in my yard. c) It is now Friday(the day after the spray,) and we can't be outside because the mosquitoes are so bad. There is no difference from the day before the spray to the day after. This is another weekend wasted because we can't be outside. I would LOVE one of those workers to come here and see if they can tolerate even 15 minutes outside. I'd bet money they can't. I have asked them to cancel our summer contract with them TWICE now because of the poor job they have done. They won't. It's fine, I will continue to 'take one for the team' this season. Let my experience be a warning- don't bother with this severely declined company. OR, at the very least, DO NOT sign a contract for the season. With all the Mosquito Squad franchises around, it is a very confusing "company" to deal with. They do NOT work with each other, they are individual franchises, and are not able to come to a satisfactory conclusion for the customer if the service is not what they thought they were getting. There was confusion with my order regarding what property I wanted sprayed, but, after a verbal and a written confirmation that the correct property was going to be sprayed, no call, no show. I got a call three days AFTER the expected service saying that the mistake was mine and Mosquito Squad out of Merrifield, Mn. was not going to take care of me. North Central Mosquito Squad in Merrifield, MN has been wonderful. We have used their services the last three years and even with an ownership change, the service remained incredible. Their customer service is very friendly and willing to work with you on creating a schedule that is accommodating to what is going on in your life. The technicians are polite, thorough and efficient. They communicate through email and phone calls before and after they spray, which is appreciated so I have time to close my windows and keep the kiddos inside during the spray. We arrived at our vacation rental to an army of hungry mosquitoes...so many that we couldn't enjoy being outdoors, despite the liberal application of insect repellant. (I have been coming to the Crosslake area for 45 years and have NEVER experienced mosquitoes like this). We had passed the Mosquito Squad office on our way in so we decided to look them up online. Their website said to expect a 90% reduction in mosquitoes for 14 to 21 days, so we figured we'd give them a try. The yard is large (just under an acre), and they quoted us $145 and said they would be out the next day. They arrived as scheduled, and it probably took 20 minutes for them to spray the entire property as we all waited inside for them to finish. I was skeptical about how effective the Mosquito Squad spraying would be, but consider me convinced. We honestly haven't noticed a single mosquito in the 48 hours since they left, and it has completely transformed our stay. We are now able to spend all day and evening in the yard, on the porch, at the beach, and around the campfire without even having to apply any insect repellant. Pretty amazing difference. I will not hesitate to call them in the future for any similar experiences, as the results have greatly exceeded our expectations. Thank you Mosquito Squad! read more
