Bed was comfortable and clean, TV was weird to get a local channel- I gave up. A huge update is badly needed for the room I had on the first floor. Motel 6 website states "New" and "remodeled" for this location. No idea when- 40 yrs ago? I was in a pinch. IF I had seen bugs, I'd have been outta there and called the health department. As a Travel CNA who had stayed at ALOT of different Motel 6's across the country, especially for simple overnight stays before getting back in the car to finish driving to my destination... This had to be the WORST Motel 6 I've ever stayed at. The gentleman that initially greeted me at check-in after 4pm, was very kind and answered all my questions, respected my request for no housekeeping due to traveling with 2 CATS (keep this in mind) and my husband. Immediately walked into our room with the FOULEST smell of smoke and urine any person could Endor. Open minded, literally took perfume, car air freshener, and coffee grounds to cover the smell. Easy fix, especially driving 48 hours/4 days to get here and having no energy to fight about this... Fast forward to waking up at 6:30am the following morning, my husband found 2 COCKROACHES. 1 dead and 1 alive! I didn't even second guess looking for myself, because I already see the dead one... I go up to the front desk, same gentleman that checked me in, I asked about the refund policy and explained why, and he politely asked for me to wait 30 minutes until the manager came in so I could talk to her. Waited till 7a.m. Before returning back to the desk and talking to the manager, but had to inform her that "we wouldn't be able to check out until this evening because my husband and I had new hire orientation at one of the local hospitals and can't leave them in the car alone for 10 hours." Didn't realize she checked us out at 7a.m. without issuing a refund email/notice at the time. Fast forward again to 4p.m..... Husband and I went to go and grab our cats and anything else we left... LOCKED OUT OF THE ROOM. Turned around and went back to the desk, poor gentleman was absolutely confused because we greeted one another with positive attitudes, to now not and confused as to why I was checked out, wanting back into the room, and is also scared for his life that our cats were potentially MISSING. He let us into the room, spiritually reassured that our 2 cats and their stuff was still in the room, safe and sound. He kindly gave us space and let is peacefully leave with no other complications. Moral of the story: they have roaches, stunk of cigarettes and urine before we got there, locked us out of our room, held our cats captive from us, charged 2 nights instead of 1 (pEr PoLiCy). 1. We are from out of state and booked 7 nights at this motel because it was close to our venues and it was inexpensive. We've stayed at Motel 6 locations in the past and they've always suited our needs - they're not fancy, but they're clean and safe and relatively quiet. We should have known this one would be different when we walked up to the front desk to check in and waited for almost 10 minutes for someone to show up at the Plexiglas-shielded desk. Our room was on the third floor, and the floor was sagging as we walked to our room. The sheets and towels were stained, and everything smelled like mold and despair. No wash cloths, no blankets, the mattress was deeply uncomfortable, and two of the electrical outlets didn't work. There is no room service. We were told that they will not bring you fresh sheets or towels - you have to go downstairs and get them yourself. We don't expect them to be changed daily, but on the third day we asked if the room would be cleaned or the towels would be replenished, and they said they don't do that They won't take out your trash either. People leave bags of trash in the hallway. If you've ever wanted to know the most efficient way to breed roaches and mice, this is a great option to consider. We did not see any roaches while we were there but it was still really gross, and I couldn'stop thinking about what it will lead to. The whole motel was very clammy and moist - there is no central air, but our room did have an individual unit. There was a fan in the lobby that seemed to be running 24/7, but it didn't help. Halfway into our stay, we came back from our venue to discover that our key cards were deactivated. After talking to another guest on our floor, we found out that the police were called out to handle a domestic disturbance next door, so it appears that keys were deactivated en masse - but at least we knew the police could find us if things got any worse. One morning, around 2 am, throngs of people were literally STOMPING in the hallway right outside our door. Dogs were allowed to run rampant in the parking lot, barking up a storm (we love dogs, but this is a bit much) and people would throw loud parties in their rooms all night long with their doors wide open. Nothing was done about any of this. Upon reflection, it felt like people were living there - like a "low budget extended stay" motel. We saw someone get on the elevator with a crockpot and a bunch of groceries, among other things. If you are fine with these situations and don't mind the saggy floors, stained towels, rampant noise and occassional violence, maybe this motel will work out OK for you. Black mold in the fridge that constantly defrosts, leaving puddles of water running on the floor. Ruining the food I have stored in it. Roaches! 1 washer/dryer set for 3 floors of guests. I dont use it due to the roaches. Window is screenless.( I open it for fresh air) Lockout if you dont pay on the dot yet they dont replenish what you need and you pay for fresh towels and toilet paper replenishhment in your room fee. I asked for a week and never got any of it after they lied twice about bringing those things due to me for my stay. The upside is the location. Safe overall. The bed had pretty horrendous stains and a bunch of hair all over it. My job booked this hotel because online it looks nice. Once I arrived there were residents of the hotel hanging outside. Walked in and it smelled stale and humid in the hallway. The carpet looked dirty . Got to my room and it looked decent. Later that night as I was getting ready for bed I noticed a dead bug on one of the pillows. I lifted the mattress and saw a bedbug crawling around. Once I saw that the mattresses were in bedbug bags I immediately got my luggage and left. When I showed the guy at the front desk the video of the bedbug crawling around he just looked like..damn were busted. I went to another hotel parking lot and slept in my car. The rooms have broken furniture, tiles are coming out of the floors, the toilets make noises when you sit on them, the metal on the lamps is rusty, the tubs look dirt, the towels ARE FILTHY! They charge $109 per night for singles and $206 per night for doubles. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. You will regret it! They even have broken refrigerators in some of the rooms. And, if you want to use a microwave then you have to go to the 1st floor lobby to heat up food. And, if you look around, you will be skeptical of doing that. I cannot stress enough how dirty it is in this place. There's an Indian Palace restaurant attached to the motel and who would eat there when the motel attached to it is a TOTAL DUMP! This used to be at least a "half-way" descent motel. It's anything but that now. The last two times I've been here, the bed linens appeared soiled. I'm not saying they hadn't wash, but they were definitely stained. Of course, there's no way to get clean linens if you arrive in the evening hours. Not even if you offer change them yourself. It took 3 trips to the front desk to get the card key to work. The place is like a sauna. I'm talking about just walking down the halls to get to your room. Of course the room is no better because the air conditioner is not turned on. You can turn it on and set it as low as it will go, and it still will not adequately cool the room. This motel is in an unpleasant neighborhood and it is hard to find. The giant Motel 6 sign was off and we missed any additional signs. The motel appeared poorly maintained and poorly cared for. Seven towels lying on the floor on the 1st floor hall were still there 12 hours later. Ice machines were removed but signs remain. Some garbage on stairs. They were pet friendly. The bath had blood in it, there was a used condom on the floor, the towel bar was broken/non existent, the shower handle was complete rust, the next door people were screaming at 4 am, something bit my husband leaving some major skin damage, there was no shampoo, small dirty towels, ALL the Linens had fire holes in them as well as the wood, I was put in a smoking room that activated my allergies/headache/asthma, I slept ONE hour, toilet didn't flush, shower curtain was BLACK with filth, lamp shade had filth spots all over it, corners had piles of stuck on filth, etc etc. look at all the comments--Managememt knows and DOES not care. I had only an acceptable experience at this motel. The bed was quite comfortable and the front desk attendant was friendly. I would not use the tub though. Hair in the tub and sink. Floors had not been swept. There were cigarette burns on the comforter and the room smelled of cigarette smoke. My travel partner also described a negative encounter with the housekeeping staff when she asked them where the ice machine was. But when I saw the room and where it was, she was very empathetic and put me in a nicer room above the front desk on the 2nd floor. She was exemplary in her accommodation and attitude. From giving me extra fresh sheets, to extra towels and making sure I was ok, I knew I would like to stay there even though the rooms weren't the best and not as renovated as the other Motel 6 in Hazelwood, MO. (DONT STAY THERE...THEY ARE RUDE) I knew Mr. "Jesse" had send me to Maryland Heights location to get back at me for challenging his inept judgement in the way he treated me. But I was going to make the best of a horrible situation. The next morning, when I went down to the front desk, I met a sweet young lady by the name of Valerie and another front desk clerk of east Indian descent (?). They both were in a festive mood laughing and just being nice to me. I felt very at ease with them. We stopped here late last night. I'll admit I never saw myself staying at a motel 6 EVER, but here we were. Exhausted from our day long trip of driving we just wanted a shower and clean bed. We got both. This was an unexpected expense to our trip so cost was a huge factor. We found this place quickly on google and got off the next exit. Hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. We were given an exceptionally clean room with comfortable beds. I even made a comment about how I never thought this is what a motel 6 would be like. I'm sure they're not all this clean but thankfully we found a good one. Our room had laminate floors not carpet and the mattresses were fairly new. The only thing great about this motel is the location. The WiFi did not work at all but there was a sign stating that. I asked about it and he told me that it goes up and down. I took my shoes off and when I walked on the carpet it felt like it had never been cleaned. Most of the television channels did not work. I will say that the shower worked great and I had fresh towels. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows need replacing. I did notice that there were several windows bordered up and a construction dumpster sitting outside but I have no idea what that meant. This would probably receive one star, but the staff were very friendly and check-in/check-out was quick, easy, and hassle-free. I chose to stay at this Motel 6 because of its proximity to the venue I was in town to attend, and because it was the most affordable option. I wasn't planning on spending much time in my motel room, so I wasn't looking for anything beyond the most basic amenities. After completing my three-night stay, I would probably look for other options rather than return to this motel; I think it would be worth it to pay the extra money to go to the nearby Drury Inn instead. Again, the people I interacted with were great; it was everything else that was lacking. The motel is back a bit from the street, and there was parking space enough to suit my needs. The building looked as though it was under either renovation or demolition; I couldn't be sure. There were boarded up windows, a ground floor double-doors that were open for the entirety of my stay with construction materials stacked in front of them.The building next to the motel was also boarded up. The overall appearance of the area was kind of sketchy. The elevator floor was marked with stains and scrapes, perhaps as a result of construction? My bedroom was clean enough, at least upon first inspection. On the third day, when I moved the footrest away from the chair in the corner, I discovered an unidentified thing stuck to the carpet - I think it might have been a cherry seed? Or maybe a dried grape? I couldn't tell, but I didn't feel like examining it more closely to find out. Though I had been given adequate towels and soap, there was no shampoo. I would eventually end up having to purchase my own to bring in. Admittedly, I probably could have asked at the front desk, but I generally prefer to keep to myself when traveling. There had been a sign at the front desk apologizing for the spotty Wi-Fi service. I managed to get wifi for a few hours the first night, and then it never worked for me again. I really hope that this motel is being fixed up rather than torn down, because the location worked well for my purposes and the price is good. First day we came in not to bad as soon as I walked in you can tell people smoke everywhere. Next day we left to do some things with the family come back and I can't get in the room with my keys. I had to leave my husband with my child by the door with everything in front of the door to go see whats wrong with my keys. They got reset for some reason. Next day which is the 12th. We leave the room about 9 something. Everything is fine house keeping came by and gave us some towels and took our trash. Get back to the room about 6:45pm. I called the operator with my phone cause our phone dont work in our room for some odd reason at 6:53. Told her the fridge is leaking water what do I need to do. She said give her 15mins and she will be right up to fix it which means to replace it to a new one. Over 30mins go by I haven't seen them so I call again from my phone. 2 mins go by on the phone and I got someone. I was pissed because they literally forgot about us. So by like close 8pm a guy and a lady come up and change the fridge but don't take the old one. They wiped up the floor and said just push it outside the door and they will get it later. I was like it only gonna take just a min to get all the drinks out of here. But the left and I pushed it out the door. Since it was leaking water I had to clean up all the water that leaked from the fridge to the door. Since it leaked by the way I walked where it was leaking at and there is water coming up from the floor when you walk over there. Honestly I'm so disappointed with the service in all of this. I have never done someone else job in a hotel before. And the only reason why we up here is for my son 2nd birthday. And I have to worry about my room. There is so many drug things that look like that happen here. My husband and I looks like a weed bag sitting in the hall way. People smoke in the main entrance way. I needed a place to stay for a few days while I was working. The room was ok for the price. My problem was not the accommodations. My issue was when I arrived at 1am in the morning after working 14 hours. I go to my door to open up the room and the key doesn't work. I walk to the front desk and their are two cops there (apparently they use police officers to evict people) and the front desk worker with the nasty attitude wants to see my I.D to reset the key. I don't have it, but I offer my information. She then looks me up and says that I've been evicted for smoking in the room. I DON'T FREAKIN SMOKE!!! As the cops are leaving she asks them to escort me to the room for the rest of my belongings because I've been evicted too that night. I didn't argue with her. I just stood there in shock. The police went in first and I guess they were perplexed too. I was then allowed to collect my things and left quietly. I too will never return. And yes as the other reviewers stated that hotel is known to be rancid with prostitution and the cops are there a lot. The whole situation makes you very uneasy! I made a reservation on the 6th for 9-13-18. My mom was to have surgery and would be at the hospital overnight. I found out on the 11th, that there would be a pull out bed for me in her hospital room. So, I went online to cancel my reservation. It was not under future reservations as it should have been, so I looked at the other option of past. And there it was. Even though I booked it for the 13th, it was registered for the 6th. I called the hotel and the person I talked to told me there have been issues with the wrong date for customers who booked on line. But then the very nice person turned into a hateful and unhelpful person when I told her my reservation should have been for the 13th not the 6th. She looked it up on her computer and said, "you stayed here on the 6th" I said, "no, I did not", she said "our system says you where here". I told her I gave my credit card number to hold the room, but I did not stay there on the 6th. As we talked, she became more confrontational and basically called me a liar! I said, do you have my signature for that night? She said, "I am not going to take the time to look that up until your credit card company requests it" "It will have to be settled by your card company or if not, then you will have to sue us!" I was shocked how she went from this very friendly person, to this nasty angry person. I called the Motel 6 customer relations, and they said they would email the area manager or owner and ask them to call me to work this issue out. It has been 2 days. No email or phone call has been received, so I guess I will have to contact my credit card company and file a complaint. It is very sad that Motel 6 allows this kind of customer service. I will be sending a letter to the corporate offices. I have been a long term customer of Motel 6 for over 15 yrs. I travel often with my job and have used Motel 6 when possible. I will never give my credit card info in order to book a room, ever again! And, if this issue does not get resolved I might decide not to use Motel 6, again, ever again! I looked up to see 5 children 2 parents and 2 dogs walking from the motel towards my store. The server and I looked at each other...again it's 3am and 20 degrees outside. I cannot have animals in the store but the Ma brought her children in to be warm. Their ages...2-11yr old, 2-13yr old and a 16 year old. All who should be in bed sleeping so they can go to school, but Motel 6 had fire alarm problems (didn't work)so they told this family they had to leave cause of this. The family has no money no vehicle and there was no place for them to go. My heart ached for this family. A ma who was just lost for words and a dad who was just helpless still outside with their dogs trying his best to make the kids smile through the window. It made me and the other server cry. The other server Amy made 5 hot chocolates for these soooo polite well behaved children. Why would u as a big business like Motel 6 displace this family??? Sure they gave them back 45 dollars for the night but added it back to a credit card telling this family they wouldn't have access to the funds for 2 days. With full knowledge that this was a needy family who was already struggling to make ends meet. Why not make it possible to transport this family to another hotel??? You throw them on the street...REALLY???? Couldn't have called the red cross so these children stayed warm???? I'm just appalled!!!!! My hats off to Maryland Heights Police Department for helping me last night find placement for this family. I called them and the dispatch and the sergeant spent a hour with me on the phone and sending 2 patrol cars to bring this family to another hotel for the night. You are all God sent!!!! I truly am just so appreciative of your service. I will let this be known now! I will NOT be using your hotel services EVER in my lifetime!!! This was so unnecessary and it humanity at its worse to see this family and others just thrown out in the middle of the night without a care of what's to happen to any of them. I pray God has mercy on u (Motel 6) I'm tagging this hotel for obvious reasons!!! On a lighter note I made no money last night but I walked out the richest I do promise. Your bad choice became my blessing as I made many many new friends. PLEASE SHARE THIS POST TO SHOW THIS COMPANY THAT THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! (Not even worth one star) read more
